Chapter 1: First Encounter
TABY finally arrived at her dorm and she was very excited. She notices that she has two other roommates but they’re nowhere to be found. She placed her suitcase on the third bed near the window and started to unpack her things. That is when the door opened and two giggling girls came in.
“You must be Tabitha, our new roommate,” said the girl with the pixie-cut black hair, her admiration cannot be concealed while she looked at Taby’s face.
“Yes, but you can call me Taby” She shook the hands of both girls.
“I'm Sasha and this is Cleo”, pointing to the blond girl.
“Oh My Goodness, You look like a princess that came out straight from a fairytale” said Cleo, smiling.
Taby blushed, she was still not used to other people admiring her.
“Taby, what's your schedule for today?” Sasha asked.
“uhm.. History”, Taby answered.
“That’s perfect, we're in the same class,” said Cleo.
Taby smiled. It’s great to know that she’s not alone on her first day in class.
The girls gathered their stuff and went into their history classroom.
There were only a few students seated when they arrived. They chose the seat on the middle bench.
Taby notices a guy coming in with two other guys behind him. But her gaze was focused on the first guy.
He was wearing a black leather jacket and he paired it with blue jeans that seemed to have a lot of zippers as designed on them, and completed the look with a black pair of sneakers, and when his face came up, Taby held her breath. The guy was gorgeous. His hair was raven black and it was pushed back, he also had fair skin and the shape of his face was perfect like it was molded by the best sculptor, and his eyes were like the deepest blue of the ocean and he had this serious expression on his face like he didn’t care, even though there are girls swooning around him.
Taby quickly looked down and paid attention to her books. She doesn’t want to look like she is interested in him.
XIAN noticed the girl sitting in the middle. She was having a conversation with the girls beside her. She doesn't look familiar because most of the students in the college building are from the junior high building.
“Seems like we have a fresh face in school” mentioned by the guy with blond curls seated next to Xian.
Xian didn’t react, but he could tell that she was looking at him earlier. "Well, no one can resist the charm of Xian", he thought to
himself. Then he slightly grinned.
"Hey, what are you grinning about, Xi? You're curious about the new girl, am I right?" said the guy with the blue hair.
"You know that I'm not interested in anybody, I'm grinning because you guys are going crazy just because there's a new girl" said Xian.
"I really can't believe how you do that, like remain all cool. If I have atleast half of your good looks, man! I will not waste it." said the blue-haired guy again.
"That's the reason why you don't have Xian looks!" said the blond-haired guy loudly.
Because they were too busy making fun of each other, they did not notice the professor was already inside the classroom. She grabbed a small empty water bottle and tried to throw it in the hallway just on the left side where they were sitting to get their attention, but it went straight to where Taby was sitting and it hit her on her shoulder,
Taby was surprised, and looked right up at the professor. She was trying to figure out if she had done something wrong.
"Oh my dear, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to, I was just trying to get these guys' attention since they seem to be so busy with what they're talking about.
"That's okay ma'am, no harm done." Taby answered.
Xian's friends looked at each other and they smiled. "It seems that she's the perfect girl, a beautiful face matched with a beautiful voice as well", Xian thought to himself.
The professor finished the lecture and once again approached Taby to apologize for the third time.
"I'm really sorry, Ms. Montgomery," said the professor.
"I'm fine ma'am, you don't have to keep on apologizing." Taby smiled warmly to the professor.
The girls started to walk back into their dorm and when they arrived at their room Taby went straight to her study table.
"So that's the infamous Xian. I'd heard about him back in junior high but I hadn't seen him upclose, and my goodness, he is yummy", Cleo said with a mischievous smile on her lips.
"Hey, down girl!" Sasha said, laughing.
Taby was still quiet, she couldn't help it, but when their eyes met her heart skipped a beat, and now she also felt embarrassed and angry because of what happened, but one thing is for sure.
"I can't deny it, the guy is really handsome, argggghhh.. get hold of yourself Tabitha" Taby thought to herself.
Meanwhile, in the boys' dorm room, Xian's friends are still debating if they will try to get the attention of the new girl.
"I guess we'll just leave this to Xi, since he's the charming one." Shane, the blond guy said.
"Hey, why are you including me in your craziness?" Xian blurted.
"Because we have a feeling that you might also want to get to know her, you're just denying it, Xi." Clay, the blue-haired guy said.
"I'm sorry to disappoint you guys, but both of you are wrong. I'm not interested", Xi said nonchalantly.
Xian's phone rang and when he checked the caller ID it was his mother. He smiled, since he was an only child, his mother spoiled him, and always checked on him to make sure that he was okay.
"Hello, How's my beautiful mother?" Xian said when he answered the phone.
"You are the sweetest. My baby, I'm doing well, although I miss you" said Xian's Mom.
Xian laughed, he knew that his mother just wanted him to go home and visit.
"Mom, don't worry, next week I'll visit you since I have free time," Xian said.
"Oh, that's perfect your father will be home as well, and do you remember the close friend that I mentioned to you before?" his mom asked.
Xian suddenly went quiet, trying to recollect his previous conversation with his mother.
"Mom, your not doing this again. Why do you keep on finding me a blind date? You know that I'm not interested in dating anybody." Xian said, sounding exhausted.
"Xian Brent CarlMichael, you're my only child. Of course, I'm constantly worried about you. I don't want you ending up alone, although you can always live with us, but wouldn't you like to have a family of your own?"
"Come on mom, I'm still young, so you don't have to worry about me, okay?. I'm not sure what the future holds, but for now just relax and don't think about it yet. I will see you next week. Miss you mom, you always take care, okay? I love you." Xian said, ending the call.
"Seems like your mom is worried about you Xi, she definitely knew that you're not dating anybody," Shane said.
"Don't start, Shane, I'm just content with my life right now, I don't need to add any other complication." Xian warned.
"Since when is dating someone a complication?" Shane answered.
"Wooo, coming from someone who always complains to us about the girl that you dated the last time". Clay said.
"That is different, this is Xian that we are talking about, and at least I got to experience dating someone, but not our friend here", Shane reasoned out.
"Will you two stop it already, I'm still here. Don't talk about my dating life, even though I don't have one, I'm happy. Just leave it that way, okay?" Xian said. He went back to his laptop to check on some assignment that he needed to finish.
While he was finishing up on a report, his phone beeped, meaning that he received a message, and he knew exactly the ringtone. It was from his mom. He opened the message and read it. After reading, he felt like he was going to have a headache. His mother didn't know how to give up. She sent a reminder about next week and that he needed to be on his best behavior since she would introduce him to his parents' friend's only daughter.
Well, he is always on his best behavior, but no guarantee that he will entertain the daughter of his parents' friends.
"I'll make sure that she will regret meeting me" Xian thought to himself. He is planning something, not knowing that this meeting might completely change his life in the future.
