SECRET HEARTS
THE UNEXPECTED GLANCE
The hallway buzzed with laughter, sneakers squeaking on tiled floor, lockers slamming shut but all of that faded into the background the moment he looked at her.
She hadn't meant to stare. It just happened, their eyes met for a second too long, Her heart skipped, then stumbled. Then started running like it was trying to escape her chest.
But her heart wasn't convinced.
Her friend chatted beside her about weekend plans and i********: drama, but she wasn't listening. she was still stuck on the ways his eyes had hers. like he'd s en through the quiet girl routine. she always hid behind.
She wasn't used to attention. Especially not from guys like him.
And Definitely not Jordan Blake - the boy every one knows. The one who got girl without trying, who wore confidence like a second skin. She heard the rumour about him - heart breaker, rule bender, the guy who could charm a teacher if he smiled too long.
He was everything she stayed away from.
So why couldn't she stop thinking about him?
She held her book tight to her chest and started walking to class, hoping to shake the feeling, during the hallway it happened again.

Book slipped from her hand had scattered across the floor.
She gasped, dropping to her knees to gather them. but before she could move, a hand reached out - strong - warm and picked one up.
Her eyes met his again.
Jordan Blake.
Up close, his eyes were a a dangerous shade of brown- dark and deep, like secret waiting to be uncovered.
You're okay? he asked, his voice low and steady, the kind that could stop a storm and start one.
She nodded trying, to swallow her nerves . yeah. I'm okay.
You're sure, you look kinda....
distracted, he said with a small, knowing smirk.
She looked away, her face burning. I'm good. Thanks.
He handed her the last book. Their fingers brushed.
And just like that the world title again.
She never said any thing else. just stood, mumbled another thanks, and quickly turned away. Her heart was beating too loud, she doesn't want him to hear it.
But as she walked away she couldn't stop wondering:
Was he smiling behind her?
Did he feel it too?
She didn't know.
But some thing had changed.
And even though she didn't believe in fate, destiny, or those cheesy love at first sight stories.....
This felt dangerously close
