Raindrops were getting bigger. Teo just wanted to stay in the rain.. maybe for awhile.. to play with it just like kids.. allowing himself to get wet. He was outside their house trying to figure out everything that has gone through. He could see his mother just right through the window standing for almost an hour. She seems like a ‘walking dead’ to him. He was sitting there on the lawn, wanted to shout out all the pain that he was feeling. He couldn’t believe what has been happening to his family. His thoughts never ran out of questions why of all the families in the world, it was his that was chosen to suffer in the most mysterious way. He couldn’t just sit there and accept that fate. He shouted, he laughed, he cried .. and the rain just kept on pouring on his head, pouring hard. He could have lost his mind that moment. He felt so alone. He kept on pulling the grasses out of the ground until nothing left to be pulled. He had cried so many times.. and that time he shouted it out.. he released all the hurt.. he didn’t know that even his grieving mother had a glance to what he was doing.. she was beginning to get worried. He never knew it. He was so occupied with the thought that his mother doesn’t care. He thought his mother was so depressed that she couldn’t even do a single thing for him anymore. One thing he was holding on to was the belief that his father was there just around the corner waiting to be rescued.
“You should get inside and change your clothes son.” Her mother Amber told him worriedly. He was surprised with his mother patting his back while he was sitting on the ground crying his heart out. His mother never talked to him like that for a long time. Her compassion ran out. He thought she was going insane but that moment all he has been waiting for has come back. She came comforting his son when there was no one left to give him that. “Mom.. mom.. I missed you so much! I thought I lost you too.” He said excitedly and in tears. He hugged his mother tightly and felt the warmth of her comfort again. He was gradually feeling the relief from weariness that has been tormenting him since the disappearance of his father. “I am feeling the emptiness since your father is missing.. and I realized that I couldn’t add more to that emptiness if I am going to lose you like your father..seeing you like that breaks my heart more.” His mother said in regret. “I’m sorry Teo.. I’m sorry if I had forgotten to be a mother to you.. I will try my best to be what I was when your father was still here.. forgive me.” She added. A mother’s love indeed couldn’t bear the pain of a littered son. “One thing I ask mom.. please help me on this.. I could never do this without you.. I am so glad you are back so I could start my search evenly to dad.” Teo begged. “Yes, son.. from now on I promise you to be strong and hold on to the belief that whatever happens to our lives we will always be there for each other.” His mom replied.
The forest was so quiet. You could even hear a single drop of leaf from a tree where it fell. If you had been there you would never realize how a terrible incident could happen to that place. Its peacefulness had eaten up the reality of its horrible past. Up to the road of Donsal imitated its calmness and you could see vehicles passing occasionally. From the time that gruesome accident occurred there seldom you could see motorists transit to the highway. Some neighbor cities had constructed different route because of fear even it just remained hearsay to some. Unfortunately those constructed were unfinished and not passable and those who wanted to go to Donsal City had no choice but to pass by Donsal Road. Inspite of it all there were still few people who were just adventure lovers who wanted to experience danger.. danger indeed awaited.
There were five strangers hiked their way to the road. It was the first time in few months that some people tried their fate to the city. They walked on that highway and never mind the cautions they received from the natives they met along. “Do you believe in ghosts?” one of the hikers, Carlos seriously asked his fellow hikers. “Yes.. why?” Louie asked back. “People living here seems like bothered to something.. could that be some kind of ghosts?” He added. “I believe that ghosts live in abandon roads and eating up their victims who are.. cowards like you. Hahaha!” Louie replied tauntingly. Everyone laughed as they saw Carlos beginning to feel uneasy. “Hey, man.. (taunting more).. relax.. It’s five of us here.. ghosts couldn’t win against us.. not unless you run away.” Roger, leader of the group of hikers jokingly added.. (more laughs had been heard all throughout the road). They kept on taunting Carlos as they walked through the road leading them to nowhere. He just smiled away his embarrassment, kept his mouth shut and just kept walking alongside his friends pretending not to hear anything they were saying. He had always been bullid by his so called friends but still he chose to be with them than the rest of the world. “Seriously guys.. I heard a story regarding this road and at first I was on cold feet when you invited me to hike here.” Denise shared worriedly. “Come on Denise.. don’t start, you know I always have a faint heart when it comes to stories like that.” Patricia answered anxiously. Suddenly huge birds appeared flying with them just a few feet away flapping their wings and beginning to chirp loudly as if talking. Those kind of chirping brought them panic as they continue their journey to the forest. The ladies were now getting afraid. They just look each other in the eye and couldn’t even say a word. But obviously they were already filled with doubts either to continue the hiking or go back to where they’d been. As they continue the hike a certain lady from afar was watching their every move. She slowly approached them and harshly said “Where do you think you’re going?” Roger seeing a lady flirted and answered, “It looks like you’re from here gorgeous.. you can come with us and show the way..” The lady just stared in her fiery eyes and everyone gone wild. A very strong wind blew and was trying to get everyone to struggle in mid air. They were shocked to what they saw and all immediately ran away from her and away from that place. But where would they go? They were all trapped on the road leading to no one knew. The ladies were screaming like hell and the guys were trying to fight against the wind that was persistent to snatch them up in the air. They scattered around running here and there just to get away. Roger and Carlos kept running and found themselves heading towards the forest. Patricia, Denise and Louie were running on the highway heading to nowhere.
Her phone rang while she was doing the chores at home. Jam was nervous hearing the ringing. Before it rang she had seen something. She never ran out of premonitions since then. She already had an idea who was on the line and what kind of message he would relay. Her heart was pounding so fast as she began to reach for the phone.. she answered “Luke.. I know it’s you.. give me pure details and don’t you keep me hanging over messages that made me crazy.. it must be complete.. Luke do you understand..do you hear me?” “You calm down Jam.. stop talking like a parrot.. you have to deal calmly to what is in you or else you’ll get crazy indeed.” Luke replied as he composed Jam to being paranoid again. “I saw it Luke.. I saw it.. the running, the screaming.. at Donsal Road.. I don’t know what to do.. I think I’m losing my mind.. please help Luke..” Jam exclaimed as she cried over the phone. Luke was intensely concern and told “Please calm down.. ok.. I will call everyone and we will talk this over.. Let’s all meet. We will find solutions to all of this Jam, I promise. Just hold on there.” He told her and hanged up. Jam never missed a day without helping her mother on household duties. She was trying to be a responsible daughter but life has been hard since she had discovered her capabilities in seeing the future. And again.. she had seen the happenings at the heart of Donsal Road. She knew that she and her friends had to take actions.
They stopped running. Patricia, Denise and Louie were very exhausted. They sat along the road and just waited for anyone to come by and help them. But help wasn’t coming. Just the time that they had gathered strength, a sudden whooshing of a strong wind began to fill the road and there’s nothing they could do. They were taken up by that strong wind and to their big surprise they were smashed on the hill like a huge stone thrown away afar off. Dead bodies were scattered on the hill and blood once again was used to irrigate it. A voice was heard by the remaining hikers saying in dominant and harsh tone.. “This is my place.. you humans never learned. I will take over this place and no one in your world could stop me!” Thunderous laugh followed after the commanding voice. Roger and Carlos began to rattle in the forest. They heard the voice clearly and were so terrified. They kept on running, looking for some place to hide but nothing had been seen but trees and the whoosh of a strong wind hurting every part of their flesh. “Nowhere to run now.. save yourself and I save mine.” Carlos shouted to Roger. They couldn’t hear each other clearly because of mighty wind that was bumping and bumping in every part of them. Roger could no longer hold on.. He was about to reach Carlos’ hand when that wind snatched him up in the air. Carlos saw him struggled up there. He felt the squeezing of the evil wind on Roger’s body. He saw how he agonized in pain and when the wind was finished squeezing it torn Roger’s body apart.. they were cut in pieces and blood showering down to the ground as if irrigating it once again. He saw how the ground sipped Roger’s blood. It was as thirsty as ever. Carlos being terrified was stunned and fell unconscious to the ground. The evil spirit drew first blood now after being silent for so many months.
“Is everyone present? Jam.. ok.. Luke.. ok..Nate.. ok.. Solenn.. ok.. and Teo.. wh.. where is Teo?” Johnny asked curiously. “He just went outside breathing the fresh air.” Nate replied. “Let me call him.” Jam volunteered. Jam stood up from being seated and slowly walking outside to call Teo. “It’s been a long while since we meet like this with friends..” Jam told Teo while he was gazing from afar. His mind was busy thinking about the situations they were in. He looked at Jam..smiled and responded.. “Yeah.. and up to now I’m missing my dad.” “I know.. and we have to do something. Mr. Sanders is waiting for us.. it’s not yet too late.. but if we want to find answers we have to talk it over and act as soon as possible.” Jam told Teo while comforting him. “I just thank you for being there always.. a.. all of you.” I couldn’t find anyone else like you and I am so glad we’ve been friends.” Teo said as he escorted Jam inside their meeting place. They were all now waiting inside to start their plans. “Meeting cannot start without you.. Can we discuss now?” Luke asked smirking. “Yes.. Luke.. what’s the agenda?” Teo asked smiling to everyone.
