The roads around the power plant were not routinely maintained and were generally potted with plenty of ruts, especially now in late spring after the winter storms. And Cameron was feeling the brunt of it. The power plant, a distant light in his rearview mirror, momentarily vanished from view as the Jeep dropped down along the coastal terrace; then it reappeared in the mirror—a bouncing reflection—as the Jeep rose back up another grade.
