Chapter 19Among the many tasks dumped on the Night Shift Supervisor, the compiling of paperwork from the Day and Swing Shifts, checking logs for accuracy, and processing security clearances for visitors, were among the ones Harkin detested most. Because the day shift supervisors were generally inundated with daylight-related activities—escorting dignitaries and heeling to the whims of the Security Director—the night supervisor was inevitably left with the bulk of paperwork.
