Chapter 32Stepping inside the massive dome rotunda of Containment Two was like stepping into a mini-version of the U.S. Capitol Building, but not so mini. Rising above, two-hundred and fifteen feet to its apex, were thick walls of reinforced steel-rebar and concrete, sectioned off by three separate rings of wall-mounted lights; illuminating the entire inner dome. In the center, rising from the main floor, was the reactor core housing; a five-story step-pyramid with a mass of spaghetti woven stainless-steel cooling pipes. The floor, though concrete, seemed to have been polished or lacquered. It reflected everything above in mirror-like images.
