Chapter 36Far below the mountaintop, the headlamps of Mobile Two bounced along a steep portion of road nearly three-quarters of a mile away from the Plant. Through the pair of Night-Owl binoculars, the greenish-colored-image revealed a shadow of a driver within, angling away at first, and then coming back nearly parallel. The Jeep dropped into a gully and momentarily disappeared. It was a place in the road where it snaked in and out of the western flanks of the coastal peak before completing its loop back to the power plant. The Sniper set the binoculars on the tarp, dropped his cheek flat against the rifle stock, clicked 'on' the star-scope, and braced himself, waiting for the Jeep to reemerge.
