An Argument

1120 Words
Bang! Bang! I jolted up in my bed uncovering myself carefully walking over to my door as quiet as I could be, “I wonder what was making all the banging” I thought as I grabbed my door handle twisting it opening my door tip toeing out into the hallway when the banging had suddenly stopped. “Maybe I shouldn’t go investigating this is how people died in horror movies” I thought, I slowly walked over to the stairs where I heard Jayden’s voice muffled saying “you can’t just come in and start business here anymore” who was he talking to? I carefully took a step down the stairs and I heard a voice again but, this time it wasn’t Jayden’s voice “And why is it that now we suddenly can’t?!” The man asked furiously, at this point I’m very curious, who is Jayden talking to? I took another step and another trying to take a peek through the railing when my eyes met with Jayden’s before he quickly looked back at the man in front of him. “I have a guest who is staying here” he replied to the man, “so what? They can be valuable to you and your image!” He shouts then turns around as he sees me on the stairs he smiles at me. “You must be his precious guest” he said “leave her alone” Jayden snapped at the man, the man had brushed Jayden off walking his way to the stairs and I turned around and ran back to the room turning on my light grabbing my pants putting them on out of embarrassment of forgetting what I was wearing. “Who was that man? And why did he have a interest in Jayden’s “image”? And what does he mean by his image?” I wondered as I slowly opened my door walking down the stairs to Jayden and the man. “Sorry that our arguing woke you up princess” said Jayden, “it’s quite alright” I replied “this is my father Dylan and Father this is my guest Emily, she is staying here for awhile” Jayden stated to his father and I, “Well it is nice to meet you Emily” his father said as he reached his hand out to me, as I reached my hand out to shake his hand he lifted my hand to his face and kissed it “pleasure to meet you as well sir” I said in a polite manor. “If you don’t mind me asking, what were you two arguing about this late?” I asked as we sat down in the living room, “well I came to discuss business with my son, as he is having trouble convincing another company that he is reliable enough to work with” Dylan said in a disappointed tone, “Why do they think he isn’t reliable?” I asked out of curiosity of the situation, “Well they believe that good business men have a woman at their side for stability and well to carry an heir if anything happened to my son” Dylan stated. Jayden didn’t seem pleased by what his dad was saying so I asked Jayden “well what’s wrong with getting a girlfriend or fiancée?”, “I don’t want to rely on someone who could disappear any moment” Jayden replied, he is right if he is going to bring someone to help him he would have to trust the woman especially if she was gonna carry his child I understand his frustration. “Well why would another company have some kind of say about something like that?” I asked receiving a surprised look from Jayden, his father stood up and looked at Jayden getting close to his ear and whispered something that made Jayden look at me with confusion it was kind of concerning “what’s wrong? Did I say something that crossed a boundary?” I asked concerned for myself, “Sorry no you are quite alright actually I have a question” Jayden said making eye contact with me. “Ask away Jayden” I said, “If you don’t mind will you attend with me to my business as my fiancée in return for you staying here?” He asked boldly before I could answer his dad put a piece of paper in front of me on the table so, I reached for it reading that the paper ‘Contract of marriage’ at the top of the page and Jayden already had his signature on the piece of paper, I looked up at him “this would make us husband and wife and pull-ups I barely know you still let alone what business you run” I stated the obvious as his father looked at him with a questioned look before looking at me and saying “You are the first girl he has even brought in this house Emily and when it comes to the business you don’t even have to do anything except walk with him in public and you won’t even have to work” Dylan stated as he handed me a pen. I looked at Jayden then back at the paper, “If you don’t want to sign it that’s alright I won’t kick you out over it” Jayden said reaching for the pen as I sat the paper on the table I signed it. “Just under one condition that I can get sleep at night without more arguments” I said jokingly to the surprised Jayden and Dylan in front of me, I stood up handing Dylan his pen back “did you not want to know what business he is running?” Dylan asked “you said I don’t have to know I just have to make a public appearance with him and that’s very simple as it is, isn’t it?” I said as I walked back up the stairs “Married couples share rooms!” his dad shouted at me quickly catching me off guard. I continued going up the stairs “I can move my things tomorrow since it’s not filed to the court yet we technically aren’t even married yet” I stayed proud of myself. I reached the top of the stairs letting out a sigh going back into my room sliding my pants off as I flip the switch off in my room, I carefully walk over to my bed laying down sighing again at the rough couple of days I’ve had as I drifted off to sleep.
