CHAPTER 6 Respect

952 Words
Olivia couldn’t believe what had happened. She was utterly confused. She recapped the whole scene in her kitchen over and over again. Why did Selena want to leave so suddenly? Did she say or do something wrong? Maybe it was her brother, this useless prick, who did something while Olivia wasn’t watching. She just couldn’t get behind it. And the most confusing thing was her brother’s behaviour, just staring at a human with his dark werewolf eyes. One does not do that, humans get traumatized. Another thing that she couldn’t quite make out was Selina’s smell at the end of the drive. She had the feeling there was something odd about it. When she entered the pack house, she went straight to her brother’s room. But she couldn’t find him there. She then made her way to the kitchen where she found her mother talking to one of the lower wolves in the pack who worked in the kitchen. It was Maria, Olivia’s favourite cook, she loved her pancakes and Maria could never refuse any of Olivia’s wishes ever since she was a little girl. Olivia smiled seeing them both. “Mom, where is Will?” “Oh Olivia baby I don’t know. Is everything alright? You look a bit mixed up.” “I’m alright Mom.” “Sweetheart I think he went outside for a run.” “Oh thanks, Maria.” Olivia smiled and rushed outside, knowing precisely where her brother might have gone. He had a spot on their pack territory he liked to visit when he wanted to hide. Since he was a little boy that’s where he would hide when he was in trouble. Nowadays it was his place to think. Olivia made her way through the dry woods sweating. The sun wasn’t that high anymore but it was still hot outside. She wished she could be able to shift but she was not in the mood to talk to her brother n***d. When she finally reached her brother she was out of breath. She vowed to stop skipping pack training. Olivia was always stunned when she saw the rocks and the river flowing, the trees close to the river were always a bit greener and taller. She could hear the birds and the wind. She understood why her brother came here so often. She saw him sitting on a rock, still wet with swimming shorts looking at the water. “Here you are.” She shouted while getting closer, he didn’t turn around. He probably heard and smelled her coming already. “What was that earlier?” She asked him as she got close to him. He kept looking at the river. Olivia sighed and sat next to him. “What is her name?” “Selena. Why do you ask?” “I think she is my mate.” Oliva leaped up in shock, turned to face him and said: “This is impossible. Will.” He kept looking at the water. “Why?” “Will, she is a human.” Finally, he turned to face his sister. He looked at her in disbelief and frowned. “Are you sure?” His golden eyes gleamed in the sun. Olivia sighed and sat back again, next to him. “Pretty sure she is human.” “But that doesn’t make any sense. Why would my mate be human? This is unheard of. Human’s don’t have a mating bond. It’s a gift from the moon goddess to the supernatural creatures.” He shakes his head. “Are you sure you felt that she is your mate?” “A hundred percent. Trust me, I – my wolf, he went wild when he captured her scent. She smelled of roses and peaches and summer rain. It’s the most delightful scent I have ever smelled. She looked like an angel, so sweet. And at the same time, I wanted to take her right there and then. I wanted to rip off her top and …” “Okay, ok enough details. I get it. She is amazing. Your mate…” “She is my Luna.” He added and finally noticed that this whole time his eyes were black again in l**t, just thinking of his mate. He was a bit embarrassed to reveal this side to his little sister. “I’m sorry. After she left so abruptly my wolf and I had to go for a run to blow off some steam.” “Did it help?” “No, I had to jump into the water.” They chuckled. The siblings sat next to each other in silence feeling the last sunrays of the day on their skin. After a while Olivia sloped her head a little thinking.  “You know there was something strange about her when I dropped her off.” “What do you mean?” Will turned his head and looked at his sister. “Her smell.” “I know. You said she is human. But I don’t care. She is my mate.” “No, it’s not that. It’s weird. I can’t stop thinking about it. And it just doesn’t make any sense.” “What is it?” “She started to smell different.” “Different, how? Olivia if I have to pull every bit if information out of your nose, I swear to the goddess I will throw you into the water!” “Calm down, Romeo! I’m trying to figure it out myself, how would I be able to explain it to you if I don’t know?!” “Sorry.” Will realised he couldn’t stand it the slightest someone might talk something bad about his mate, or worse that something is wrong with her and she might be hurt or ill. “She smelled human. But it was like there was something underneath it. A tiny hint of wolf I thought. I’m not so sure what she is anymore.” “But I know. She is my mate. And whatever she is I can’t reject her. The moon goddess had a reason for paring myself with her and I’m not going to disrespect that.”
