Chapter 19

1005 Words
It takes Macy a few minutes to regain her composure. Looking up into Mason's face, she recognizes the grey eyes. Watchful and on guard.  "This was the last thing I expected to happen tonight. I thought it would be a reunion among friends, you know. You and John has known each other for a while." She says, an amused chuckle in her voice. Mason laughs. "Well, just to get John Lance this far, was quite a mission. He's not an easy one to convince. I can tell you that. And... You know him longer then me." He says, looking at his sister with adoration."How so?" Macy asks. "I know what happened to you, Macy. I know about the k********g and the fact the our own father sold you, makes my heart ache." He says, looking into his tumbler with ice. Macy's face become grave."Mason, it's not your fault. We were what, five and three. So young and basically helpless. There was nothing you could've done at the time. Sometimes, things happen that is beyond our control." She says, her hand on his arm.The fact that he thinks she was kidn*pped, eases her. She'll tell the whole truth at a later stage. She doesn't want to ruin this moment. "I also know that they didn't look for you." He says. Well, darn it. Now she has to tell him.Taking a deep breath, she turns to Mason. "Mao, I was never kidn*pped. I was sold to the cartel of The Warehouse by the McCullen g**g. I was seen as a liability to them. I think they were afraid that someone from the Palmer Group would come and look for me. They had to get rid of me." The air in the room turns static. Before Mason can say anything, Macy continues. "John doesn't know this. I've never told him. To him it was a rescue mission for all the girls that was there. Most of them was kidn*pped and that is how they handled it. A missing person on a Lost and Found list at some bureau that no-one wants to take on." When silence follow, Macy looks at Mason. The shock and anger is a mixture on his face. His eyes burning. "Are there any of them still alive?" He asks. His voice a low growl. "I have no idea. After I was sent back, I lost touch with reality for a while. Staying in my room for days. Not eating. Too afraid to be out in the open. Afraid that they might be looking for my." Macy shivers at the thought that one of the men of The Warehouse is still free or alive and out there. Mason senses her distress and pulls her into a crushing hug. "No one will lay a finger on you ever again, Mouse. I'll make sure if it." He reassures her. Earning him a nod as her arms goes around his waist."Is Mama still alive?" She asks, still snuggling in Mason's embrace. "She is. Living in total isolation at the edge of town. She blames herself for what happened to you. She feels she should've been more aware of Father's ill intend." Mason says. "I can still remember that she always smelt of roses. When can I meet her?" Macy asks and a smile forms on Mason's lips. Ella always loves roses and the smell surrounds her like a cloud. She has the most beautiful rose garden in town. "Soon. I have to tell her first that I found you. I had to make sure you wanted to become part of the family. I don't think she will survive another loss of her daughter." He says. Looking into Macy's eyes. Blue-grey. Nothing other then sincerity and honesty linger in them. Macy nods and takes a sip from her wine."Come on. We'll join Jackson and John in the office." He says, turning away from her. "Mason? Were you present the night that Vince got killed? You were there, weren't you?" Macy asked out of the blue. Mason stiffens. How much does she know about The Black Dragons. What has John told her? Turning to her, he studies her face. No emotion, her eyes filled with questions. "I was. I pulled the trigger." He says, looking down at the floor. Guilt gripping his chest. "Okay. I am grateful you were there. It could have been a very unpleasant situation if you and Mr. Turner didn't show up. I will not ask questions about you actions. I just have one request, though." She says, watching him closely. Mason narrows his eyes. What is she getting at? "I want to know all about The Black Dragons and what they do. Since I am a part of this family, I think I might have a role to play as well."If a feather weighed a ton, Mason would've been floored. The surprise must've shown on his face, because Macy starts to giggle softly. "You want to be part of the g**g? Are you sure?" He simply asks. His mind running at a hundred miles an hour. John will kill him, but this is not his choice. Macy approached him at her own free will. He'll introduce her to the guys within the next week or so. But first to Ella. She deserves to know. Wonder what the Guys will make of her? Hopefully they will accept her and she will get along with them. They're like family. Mason's sure they will all get along. From what Gunner, Auto and Bullet exchanged about her, Mason has a hunch that the g**g will turn feral should anything happen to her. Making their way to the study, Macy stops in front of a door, about two doors before the study. Touching the door, Mason clears his throat. "Used to be my room. The next one would've been yours." He says, sadness in his eyes. "I remember." Macy says and follows Mason further down the hall to join John and Jackson for one last drink before they go home.
