Chapter Forty One - Offer
It was late at night. Both boys were sleeping, but at over halfway through my pregnancy, I was too uncomfortable to sleep, and it wasn't my night with Kayne. I was lonely in bed and I knew if I had called for him and asked him to lay with me, he would do it, but I didn't think it was fair to take time away from Kya. I wouldn't want her to do it to me. I heard angry footsteps come upstairs and a door shut more loudly than it normally would when the kids were asleep. I knew I wasn't going to sleep well, so I sighed and got out of bed. I thought maybe a snack and some water would help me settle down to sleep. I crept down the stairs quietly to make sure the babies didn't wake up. It was never easy getting them both to go to sleep.
