It took a few weeks to hash out all of the details, but we had everything ready to go ahead with the surrogacy once I had time to recover after my current pregnancy. I was due to give birth any day now. It was a nice sunny day, something that was likely becoming few and far between with the approaching winter. I was spending outside with my sons to soak up the last of the summer. It would be several months before we felt grass under our bare feet and warm sun light tickling our cheeks as we played. Makayla and I watched the kids play together. Picking up bugs, splashing in puddles, squishing little toes in the mud were all part of the fun.
