Sweet Embarrassment.
Jared's POV.
I couldn't believe what had just come out of my mouth. My body was rigid, and I couldn't tear my eyes away from hers, which held a perplexed and questioning look.
I was pretty sure she was shocked too, hearing the unexpected confession that had slipped past my lips.
For a moment, I continued to watch her, and then, almost abruptly, I turned away from her, as if trying to escape the situation.
My lips were pressed tightly together as I rushed towards the door, my trembling hand gripping the doorknob. I flung the door open and left the room in a hurry.
Once I was out in the hallway, I couldn't help but berate myself. "What have you done?" I muttered to myself, my hand now resting over my rapidly pounding heart.
