CHAPTER FOUR Remi followed Daniel as they walked up the narrow staircase to the third-floor Airbnb. He had been acting strangely ever since they had arrived in Rome, seemingly on edge and always looking around him as if he was in danger. He only did this in public places, though. Seeing that crumbling Roman arch, he had been transfixed. Once inside this typical apartment building, though, he visibly relaxed and started acting his usual self. After two investigations with this man, she still did not understand him. But now they were on the landing of the third floor, and Jaxx’s former landlord was opening the door. The Airbnb host was a skinny, tall man with a ponytail. He looked in his mid-thirties and a sporty type. Just inside the front door, a tennis racket leaned against the wall.
