CHAPTER EIGHT Remi was about to storm back into the church when Daniel put a hand on her arm. “Let’s take a look around first,” he said. “See what we can see.” Remi hesitated a moment, then nodded. “All right.” “You have to stop being so impulsive. Confronting him will guarantee he’ll clam up.” Remi didn’t know what “clam up” meant, but she got the general meaning. And Daniel was right. She was too impulsive at times. She guessed it was because investigating murders was so unlike her usual work that she got overly enthusiastic. This work with the FBI gave her a thrill. While she still loved history, and the slow pleasure to be had by teasing out hidden meanings from ancient texts and scraps of evidence, this was more exciting, more rewarding, and it got her out into the world.
