Adrian Cross was born into one of the country's most powerful business families, yet he grew up as the unwanted heir. While his cousins were prepared to inherit the Cross empire, Adrian was treated like an outsider and never understood why his own family kept him at a distance.Everything changed after his father's mysterious death.Framed for a multi-billion-dollar corporate fraud using fabricated evidence, Adrian was publicly disowned by the Cross Family without a chance to defend himself. In a single day, he lost his inheritance, his identity, and the home he once knew.Believed to have vanished, Adrian was secretly rescued by a retired businessman and former intelligence officer who trained him for five years in business strategy, negotiation, financial intelligence, survival, and combat. During that time, Adrian uncovered clues revealing a terrifying truth: his father's death and his own downfall were part of a larger conspiracy led by a powerful underground organization controlling corporations, politicians, and criminal syndicates from the shadows.Five years later, Adrian returns under a new identity. No longer the helpless young man who was cast aside, he quietly builds a business empire by reviving failing companies and turning them into industry leaders. As his influence grows, the Cross Family slowly realizes that the mysterious businessman dominating the market is the heir they once abandoned. But Adrian is not returning for wealth alone. He wants the truth behind his father's death, the mastermind responsible for destroying countless lives, and the organization that has ruled the city for decades. In a world built on betrayal, power, and hidden agendas, Adrian must decide whether revenge is enough—or if he is meant to become the force that changes everything. The forgotten heir has returned, and this time, he will not stop until justice is served.

1 - The Forgotten Heir
The Cross Family mansion stood in the center of Aurelia City, surrounded by tall security walls, private gardens, modern surveillance systems, and a private driveway that led directly to the main entrance. The mansion was beautiful, expensive, and carefully maintained, but Adrian Cross had never felt comfortable inside it. For most of his life, he had felt like he was living in a house where he was expected to stay quiet instead of a home where he was free to be himself. At 28, Adrian already knew how to tell the difference between being truly accepted and merely being allowed to exist. He knew when people wanted him around and when they tolerated him only because of his family name. He had learned to notice the small changes in people's voices, the conversations that suddenly stopped whenever he entered a room, and the way his relatives looked at him whenever they discussed the future of the Cross Family. That morning, he stood in the hallway outside the private conference room, holding a tablet in one hand while listening to the voices coming from inside. His father, Jonathan, was in there with his uncle Marcus, his grandfather Sebastian, and several senior members of the family. They were discussing the future of Cross Group, but Adrian had not been invited to join the meeting. Again. Through the partially open glass door, Adrian could see his cousins sitting around the long conference table. Financial reports were displayed on a large digital screen while several executives discussed the company's planned expansion into the Aurelia Financial District. His cousins listened carefully, asked questions, and offered their opinions as if they were already being prepared to lead the company. Adrian stared at the screen for a few seconds before lowering his eyes. He knew enough about the company's financial structure to understand what they were discussing. He had studied the reports on his own, tracked the company's market performance, and prepared several ideas that could help one of their struggling subsidiaries recover. But no one had ever asked for his opinion, and no one had given him the chance to prove that he could contribute. In the end, he turned away from the conference room. He had learned a long time ago that there was no point forcing himself into a conversation when everyone inside had already decided that he did not belong there. As he walked toward the main staircase, he heard footsteps behind him. "Adrian." He stopped and glanced over his shoulder. His father stood several steps behind him. Jonathan was still wearing the dark business suit he had worn to the meeting, and his expression was as serious as ever. Even inside his own home, Jonathan rarely looked relaxed. To him, every room seemed like a boardroom, and every conversation had to remain under control. "You're up early," his father said. "Usually, yes," Adrian replied calmly. "I heard the meeting, so I thought maybe I'd finally be included this time, but it looks like nothing has changed." His father's brow tightened slightly. It was a small reaction, but Adrian noticed it immediately. "You shouldn't concern yourself with matters that aren't your responsibility." Adrian turned fully toward his father. He tried to hide the disappointment on his face, but after hearing the same answer for years, it was becoming harder to keep it hidden. He had spent his entire life waiting for Jonathan to explain why he was treated differently, but every unanswered question only widened the distance between them. "I'm not asking to take control of Cross Group, Dad. I'm asking why I'm always kept outside while everyone else in the family is being prepared for the future. My cousins are allowed to attend meetings, review financial reports, and make decisions, while I'm constantly told that it's none of my business. If there's something about me that makes you believe I can't be trusted, then I think I deserve to know what it is." Jonathan remained silent for several seconds. He looked at his son as if he were trying to decide whether telling him the truth would protect him or put him in even greater danger. Adrian watched him closely. There was something unusual in his father's expression, something he had never seen so clearly before. It did not look like anger or irritation. It looked like worry, and that frightened Adrian more than any harsh words could have. "You don't understand the situation," Jonathan finally said. "There are things happening inside this family that you're better off not knowing about. I'm telling you this because I don't want you involved in something that could put your life in danger." Adrian frowned. "Danger? We're talking about a business meeting, not a criminal operation. If something dangerous is happening inside this family, shouldn't I know about it instead of being kept completely in the dark? I'm already part of this family, whether you want me to be or not, so why do you keep treating me like you have to protect me from information that concerns me?" Jonathan glanced down the hallway before lowering his voice. "Sometimes knowing the truth doesn't protect you, Adrian. Sometimes it only turns you into a target." A strange heaviness settled in Adrian's chest. His father rarely spoke that way, and Jonathan had never admitted that there might be a real threat inside the family. For years, Adrian had assumed that his father was simply distant, strict, or disappointed in him, but the fear in Jonathan's voice suggested that something else was happening. Before Adrian could ask another question, Marcus stepped out of the conference room. "Jonathan, Father is waiting for you." Marcus stopped when he noticed Adrian. His expression immediately turned colder, and the brief look he gave his nephew carried the same quiet disapproval Adrian had seen since childhood. "Adrian." "Uncle Marcus." Marcus studied him for a moment before turning back to Jonathan. "We need to finish the discussion. Several decisions can't be delayed any longer, and Sebastian is running out of patience." Jonathan nodded, but before leaving, he looked at Adrian again. "Go to your room. I'll talk to you later." Adrian almost smiled at the familiar promise. He had heard those words many times before, and the promised conversation usually never happened. Even so, a small part of him still hoped things would be different this time. "Sure, Dad." He watched his father walk away with Marcus close behind him. When the two men disappeared into the conference room, Adrian remained in the hallway. He heard the door close, followed by the low voices of the people inside, but he could no longer understand what they were saying. For years, Adrian had told himself that his family treated him differently because they did not believe he was ready yet. He accepted that explanation because it was easier than admitting they might simply not want him in their world. But after what his father had said, that explanation no longer made sense. If they believed he was incapable, they could have simply ignored him. But that was not what they were doing. They were watching him. They avoided certain conversations whenever he was nearby. They went silent whenever his name was mentioned. And his father, despite being strict and distant, always seemed more concerned with keeping Adrian away from something than teaching him about the family business. As he slowly walked toward his room, that thought grew heavier with every step. Adrian's bedroom was one of the largest rooms in the mansion. It had a private workspace, smart glass windows, a large digital display, and every modern convenience money could buy. It contained everything a person could possibly need, but none of it made Adrian feel like he belonged. The room was comfortable, expensive, and completely impersonal, just like the rest of the mansion. He placed his tablet on the desk and opened the Cross Group financial dashboard. Numbers appeared on the screen in organized columns, including the company's revenue, investments, subsidiaries, acquisitions, and debt exposure. Adrian studied each section carefully, refusing to let his frustration distract him. If his family refused to teach him, he would teach himself. He opened the latest report from one of Cross Group's subsidiaries and began reviewing the numbers. Several minutes passed before he noticed something unusual in one of the recent transactions. The amount was small and most people would probably ignore it, but Adrian had always been good at noticing details others missed. He zoomed in on the record. The transaction had been approved by a senior executive he personally knew. The approval date, payment route, and receiving company did not match Cross Group's usual pattern. Adrian stared at the record for several seconds as a quiet sense of unease slowly grew inside him. Something was wrong. Before he could investigate further, his bedroom door opened. When Adrian turned, he saw his father standing outside. He immediately closed the report. "You're back." His father entered the room and looked at the tablet on the desk. "You're reviewing company records." "I was curious." "You need to stop." Adrian looked at him, trying to understand why his father sounded even more serious than before. "Why?" Jonathan moved closer, and the concern in his expression became harder to hide. "Because I meant what I said downstairs. Stay away from the company's internal investigations, and don't involve yourself in matters you don't understand. You may think you're only looking at financial reports, but some information becomes dangerous because of the people connected to it." Adrian's eyes narrowed slightly. "You keep saying that, but you never explain why. You expect me to stay away from everything without telling me what I'm supposed to fear. How am I supposed to trust you when you keep hiding the truth from me?" His father stared at him for a long moment. His face remained controlled, but there was conflict in his eyes that Adrian had never seen before. Then Jonathan spoke quietly. "Because there are people who would rather see you disappear than let you discover who you really are." Adrian froze. "What does that mean?" Jonathan immediately glanced toward the hallway. His body stiffened as if he had suddenly realized he had said too much. Before he could answer, Marcus's voice came from outside. "Jonathan." His father stepped back from Adrian. "Forget what I said." "Dad, you can't say something like that and expect me to forget it. If someone wants me gone, I have the right to know who they are and why they're targeting me." "I'm serious, Adrian. Don't ask questions, don't investigate anything, and no matter what happens, don't trust everyone who calls themselves family. I'm trying to keep you alive, even if you don't understand that yet." His father left before Adrian could stop him. Adrian remained beside his desk, staring at the closed door. His father's warning echoed through his mind, mixing with all the questions he had carried since childhood. For the first time in his life, he was certain of one thing. His family was not only keeping him away from the business. They were keeping him away from the truth.
