(Axels POV)
“I’m f*****g losing it man!” I said to Lycan, while grabbing fists of my hair.
“Relax Ax, we’re going to find her!” He told me with conviction.
When Ivy never came back to the hall, I thought maybe she wasn’t feeling well so I decided to go check on her. Upon getting home I scoured the house top to bottom. There was no sign of her.
I strolled though the village square and asked around, but nobody I had spoken to had seen her since dinner. That’s when the worry started. I linked Lycan to come meet me.
I shifted into my wolf, trying desperately to mind link her, but received dead air. i dont know what i expected, the ability to mind link was reserved only for mated pairs, and alphas with their betas. I tracked her scent back to the house, problem was her scent never made it inside. It didn’t go anywhere in fact. It’s like she disappeared into f*****g thin air, the trail dying on the porch.
What scared me most though, was the two other scents I caught that did not belong to her…I followed those to where they stopped. Faint tire ruts left scars atop the fall brown grass. I stood there shoulders heaving as I tried to control my breath, eyes scanning the dark tree line for any sign of movement.
“I want six groups of our best warriors and trackers to check the woods around the perimeters, check neighboring packs too. It’s only been three hours she can’t have gone too far.”
“Sir.” Nodded Lycan in understanding.
This has to be related to the field threat…if anything happens to her I’m going postal.
(Ivys POV)
My head was thundering in pain, and my back was stiff from where I lay upon damp concrete. The smell of mildew and stagnant water permeating my senses. Even though I was suffering a severe concussion, I remembered everything that had occurred last night.
I cautiously opened my eyes in case I was being watched, I didn’t want anyone to realize I’d awoken.
Looking around I noticed I was in a dark cell of some sort, concrete walls with water staining surrounded me. Along the front was floor to ceiling bars.
I crawled forward and grasped one, looking for a hinge or weak spot. “Agh!” I gasped, recoiling away from the bar. f*****g silver, figures.
“It’s an executable punishment to abandon ones pack…” I heard a low voice say. Oh no. Oh no no no. Please don’t let me be right, I know that voice.
“Ivy Olsen. Erikson now from what I’ve been told. Hmm?” Dax stepped in front of the cell coming into my line of sight.
“Erikson is the name of the Silver Falls Alpha isn’t it? So you think I was just going to forget that my betrothed denied me, and ran to take another?” He pulled out a key from his jacket pocket, and opened the cell door with leather gloved hands. He entered and closed it, keeping his back to me.
“f*****g SPEAK” he bellowed.
“Dax, I’m sorry! I was sca-.” I started to answer but he whirled around, his hand striking me faster than I could react to. Pain sliced along my cheek, burning in stinging pulse like sensations.
“If you were scared then, you better be f*****g terrified now. You’re in for a world of pain omega.” He sneered the words, hate dripping with each syllable. “Unless of course…you denounce Erikson of your hand, and agree to take me as your rightful mate…” he said with feigned nonchalance.
“What?...” I breathed in horror, suddenly forgetting the pain of my face.
“The choice is yours Ivy. Well…not really" he chucked darkly. “I think I’ll let you sit down here, and think about your mistakes a while. See you in the morning bitch.”
I watched him slam the door locked, and saunter out of view. My jaw hung and my heart began hammering in panic. 'AXEL!' I tried to scream in mind link. Again, dead silence. It felt as though I couldn’t breathe. I sank slowly to my knees, and stared dismally at the bars before me, unblinking. I didn’t even realize I was crying.
(Chelseas POV)
When I first met Dax Forrester six months ago, I found out he was an Alphas heir. Mostly because he wouldn’t shut up about it. We were at the Crescent Palms lounge, a place in the city that’s often frequented by our kind. Drugs, alcohol, s*x. The usual.
Funny he never mentioned his obsession with Ivy at the time. Must have been too busy railing me from behind.
I figured him for a one night fling, and kept his number for the occasional blow hookup. Never did I think in a million years he’d be my ally in trying to win back those that had been stolen from us.
Truthfully I couldn’t give a f**k about Ivy, I hated her guts to be frank... but Axel is everything to me.
I knew Dax meddled in some messed up s**t, trafficking, slavery, and whatnot were just the tip of the ice berg. So imagine my surprise when I come forth to him with a hit request, just to find out he’s in love with the goddamn target ha-ha! It was all too perfect. He gets his, and I get mine.
Originally the plan was for me to slip haldemithe to Axel at dinner, a plant by-product that has the ability to knock out three wolves in a single drop. Once he was down for the count Dax and his Beta Vic would break in and take Ivy kicking and screaming back to Blood Lake, my involvement never known.
I waited all through dinner hour watching their table intently for a chance to taint his drink, but with them sitting at the front of the hall there was literally no chance. I walked out of the mess hall to call Dax, and tell him the plan was off for the night.
I stepped out into the dark and took a deep breath. Disappointment clouding my previous excitement. I pulled out the phone then paused when something caught my eye…Ivy jogging back towards the house, alone.
Grinning with my heart in my throat, I dialed Dax. “She’s headed your way. Get ready.”
