Death Threat

I learned that the girl that was in my mates home was a pack member named Chelsea. Apparently, Chelsea had been throwing herself at Axel since they drunkenly slept together one time a year ago. Axel told her it meant nothing and had spent the last year dodging her advances. Guess she got sick of him evading her and thought she’d break in his house and give him a sexy surprise. Imagine her surprise when he told her he had found his mate, that I was the new Luna, and she had less than a minute to get out of his house! Even though Axel and I had just met, my wolf was clawing around inside me, trying to get out, and rip Chelsea a new one for having eyes for our man. The feeling both confused and exhalted me. She had stormed out humiliated, retribution flashing in her gaze as she passed me. Axel came up behind me where I stood staring at the open door, and ran his hands down the sides of my arms. “Sorry about that” his hot breath tickled the back of my neck sending waves of heat through my most intimate area, a foreign feeling I surprisingly welcomed. I breathed in a sharp exhalation, and turned around slowly, peering up under my lashes to meet his eyes. His eyes bore into mine, pinning me in place, along with the hands still settled on either side of me. My tongue darted out to lick my bottom lip, his gaze following the movement and remaining on my mouth. He glanced back up to meet my stare, his eyes now dark with an unspoken question. I cautiously rose to my tip toes, eyes locked on his like a viper, and leaned forward just the smallest increment. I paused. Our faces just mere inches away as my chest rose and fell. Axel took the invitation , closing the distance between us. Our lips touched and my body unwound the tension it had been clinging to. His kiss was gentle but firm, his massive hand coming up to grasp the nape of my neck while the other snaked behind my waist and drew me deeper into the kiss. His confidence coming front and center with the knowledge that I wanted him too. “You’re a f*****g goddess” he breathed , trailing kisses along my jaw and down to the crook of my neck. The hand behind my back moved to my front, and grazed along the waistline of my pants, his cool knuckles sending a feather light tickle along the warm skin of my abdomen. “Axel?” I panted, “Mm?” he hummed in question. I lost my voice, unsure how to word what I was thinking. I had literally met this man this morning, and things were speeding past without time for me to analyze them all. Truthfully I wanted him to throw me up against the nearest wall and ravage me f*****g senseless, but the sensible part of me, knew better than to complete a mating I wasnt yet committed to, and he must have known too, because he pulled back and sighed, forehead resting against mine with a small chuckle. "It's alright" he whispered in the quiet. I leaned back to gauge his expression, when I was saved by the bell, literally. Rolling his eyes Axel smirked at me and opened the door. A handsome man stood there, not quite as tall as Axel but still a towering figure to my mere five foot four. He had sandy blonde hair, shaved into a military cut, and warm brown eyes with subtle creases around them from a life spent laughing. “Lycan.” Axel said in greeting. “Sorry to bug you and the misses Boss man but there’s a problem out in the west field. Oh hi there Luna Ivy, forgive me. I’m Lycan, beta of the Silver Falls it’s a pleasure to meet you, and a blessing this guy found a mate like you" he said eyeing me appreciatively. Axel let out a low growl deep in his chest “You may be my best friend beta, but you eye my mate like that again, and you won’t have eyes left to look upon Ilyda with.” He said with dark conviction. I assume Ilyda is his mate. “Easy man just poking you.” Lycan said, giving Axel a playful slug to the shoulder. I gave him a timid wave, and bashfully tucked a stray lock of hair behind my ear. “So what’s this s**t you’re talking about the west field? That’s neutral territory, not our jurisdiction.” “You’d better just come look, it’s easier to see than explain, but I’m warning you…it’s not good man…” Lycan said and turned back the way he came. “I’ll be right back.” Axel promised, placing a quick peck on my cheek before rushing out the door after Lycan. (Axels POV) I followed my beta to the west hunting fields that we shared with four other local packs, including those slave drivers from Blood Lake, the pack Ivy ran from. When we came upon the edge of the perimeter I looked at the scene before me. Instantly my blood turned to molten lava, and my body shuddered beyond control, my wolf desperate to rip to the surface and shift. I pushed him down and got hold of my breathing. With shoulders still rising and falling hard I turned to Lycan. “Do we have an idea who may have done this, or any witnesses?” “None yet sir, I’ve dispatched a team of four to each pack in the area to question if anyone saw anything, we will get to the bottom of this Alpha.” Lycan said with more seriousness than I’ve ever seen him display. I bit the inside of my cheek until I tasted blood, and nodded absent mindedly. “Until we have any leads, we keep this between us and the wolves you dispatched. Make sure they know that the rest of the pack is not to hear about this yet, especially not the Luna. If there’s a traitor in our pack I don’t want them to know we’re looking for them.” Lycan took off to catch up with the Intel team while I rushed back home to be with my mate, scanning every inch of forest as I ran. This was her first night here and she didn’t need to be fearing her safety. When I returned to the house I found Ivy already asleep on the sofa, snoring softly. A lukewarm cup of tea sat on the stand beside her. Knowing she'd felt comfortable enough to mosey around the kitchen warmed me in a way I hadn't felt since I was a pup. I watched her for a moment and calmed myself to the pace of her even breathing. My wolf wanted her like a vital organ to survive, and though we'd just met, I knew I'd never mate another if she chose to reject me, my wolf would never allow it. But I could tell she was scared to commit, and that scared me as well. She'd been through so much in her past, and even more so in this day itself. Add in what I'd seen in the west field and she'd never commit to be mine. I had to play this carefully, show her the best of myself, and the best of my pack. The full moon was days away, and if she was going to mate me, I needed to keep all negatives to a minimum. I settled into the sofa opposite her, and shut my eyes, but sleep never came. All I could think was that whoever burned the words “Death upon Ivy Olson” into the field had just sealed their own fate…
