In the first envelope was a medium sizee notebook filled with page after page of notes in Elizabeth's handwriting. She had interviewed hundreds of people and made meticulous notes of each interview. The pages were numbered in the top right corner, a contents page was written out neatly at the back of the notebook.
The other envelope was filled with several small things such as cards, pieces of material and hairs that were wrapped in small pieces of paper. The papers that held the hairs were labeled with names of people, some whom Margaret knew personally and some whom she had only heard of and knew by reputation. Replacing the drawers, Margaret left the room exactly as she had found it and went to Sienna's room to examine the contents of the envelopes more closely and carefully.
