“Sammy, come on, get up.”
I heard someone whisper, and I opened my eyes. Fearfully, Sam and Mariah were staring at me with wide eyes. I sat up quickly, and I didn’t feel Jason by my side. Immediately, my head snapped to the side, and I looked.
Where was he? I wondered as I turned back to Sam and Mariah.
“What’s wrong?” I asked quietly. Mariah had red-rimmed eyes from crying.
“We can’t find Jason anywhere, and it is still dark outside,” whispered Sam, and I looked at them in fear.
“What? Where would he go?” I whispered.

“I don’t know, but we woke up to someone screaming,” Mariah said with tears in her eyes.
