Chapter 10 ADRIA’S POV Days passed gradually, and things seemed a bit normal as Lucien didn’t try so hard to reach out to me like he did when I just found out about his werewolf secret. I felt a bit better, though, but still, I felt weird that he didn’t bother talking to me or reaching out to me like he had always tried to. Ladies had been tripping for him, and it seemed like they all knew that we weren’t as close as before, so they were trying to close up the gap and vacant space I left, by filling themselves in. I got to class earlier than usual, and to my surprise, Lucien was in the class, but a female course mate was also there. Lucien was teaching her a few things and I could tell that it wasn’t really what she wanted. She had only planned it that way to get closer to him. She was definitely making a pass at him which was annoying. I had been noticing different girls trying their luck at him, and it was so disgusting to think about. Worse was that I didn’t like the feeling I got whenever they all were trying to talk to him, and get closer to him. It was as if they were breaching my territory. But why did I have to feel that way? He wasn’t mine, so I wasn’t supposed to feel that way or sort. “Adria, remember he is a werewolf, and he can hurt you when things get rough.” I said, under my breath. It was only realistic and understandable enough to let go of him because it was best to think of the future, rather than thinking of now that he isn’t showing any signs of hurting me. It was best not to continue whatever friendship we had between us. I moistened my lips, and looked away from them, then sat down, and brought out my books to study. ~ I continued to stay away from him for days, and I was getting better at doing that. I was feeling much better without him, and didn’t mind when girls began to get so close to him. My eyes fluttered open as the day broke, but I wasn’t feeling myself. I was feeling very weak, and my migraines appeared, making things worse. But there was something about this weakness of mine. It was worse this time. My migraines couldn’t allow me sit up, and my temperature was burning hot. My eyes became blurry, but they cleared up after every few minutes, and came back to the way they were, again. “Mother.” I tried to call out to her, but my voice was too weak to be heard. I reached out my hand to my phone, and tried to dial her number which thankfully went through. “Hey baby. Why are you reaching out to me through the phone?” She asked, calmly. “Mom, I can’t… I feel very weak.” I said to her, feeling my hot temperature overwhelming me. “What!” She exclaimed, and hung up. My phone fell from my hands, but that was fine as I knew my mother was already on her way, and I knew she would know what to do. She came rushing towards me, and touched me but instantly withdrew her hand. “Oh, my goodness! What’s going on?” She exclaimed looking baffled. She immediately reached out for my usual medicine whenever my migraines came up, and then gave me to drink. If it were before, I would have felt that something powerful enough to cure me had settled in me, but this time, I couldn’t feel it’s worth that much. “Let’s wait for a while to see if you’ll get better, okay?” My mother said, looking worried, and hopeful that I get better, soon. My mother paced around for almost 15 minutes to monitor my health, but I still didn’t feel any better. “Do you feel any better?” She asked, out of worry. But I shook my head lightly, and tears strolled down my cheeks. I was in severe pains that I had never felt before, and it felt as if I was going to die. Or maybe I was going to die, after all. My eyes gradually closed as they became fuzzy, and my body felt weaker. It seemed I was going to pass out anytime soon, Not even my lips could move to inform my mother of what was going on with me. “Adria, are you alright?” I heard my mother ask, although her voice sounded distant, I wished I could shake my head to let her know I wasn’t okay at that moment, and this seemed to be getting worse, but I couldn’t move my body either. “Adria! Adria!” Her voice began to sound fainter, and my eyes gave way to total darkness as I lost consciousness, unsure of if I would ever come back to life again. Mrs. Will, Adria’s mother got worried, and then she noticed that Adria had lost consciousness. “Oh, no. Poor Adria.” She said, worriedly, and went down to the basement. She pushed a button, and the wall split into half, paving way for her into another room which was more like a study. Mrs. Will trailed her hand on a few books, trying to search for what was going on with Adria at that moment, and fortunately, she found the book which told exactly what was going on with Adria, but what baffled Mrs. Will, more was the last sentence which held what Adria was going to go through in this phase of coming back to consciousness. Her eyes read through the book, and all she was to go through in that phase, and this made her eyes widen in shock. “Oh, no. My poor baby.” She voiced out in a muffled tone as she covered her mouth with her hand, Mrs. Will couldn’t help but fathom why she had to go through this phase to come back that she had to read it again to be certain of what she read, but then, she confirmed it again. “She will be unconscious for days, depending on when she can complete her task in her world of nightmares. The longer she stays without completing her task, the higher the chance of her, dying.” So, Adria was going to be more like in a journey in her nightmare, and she had to do what she had to do, or she was going to remain dead forever.
