Chapter 11 ADRIA’S POV My eyes fluttered open after so many tries, and I was glad that I was finally able to open my eyes, and best of all, I had regained my consciousness. But then, as my eyes opened to behold where I was, I noticed I wasn’t home. In fact, I was in the woods, and lying on brown, dried leaves which made rustling sounds as the wind blew around. It was daylight here, and it seemed peaceful. Am I dead? Is this the abode of people who die? So many questions ran through my mind as I looked around. Then I managed to stand, and thankfully, I was able to. I looked around, and there was nothing like seeing a house from afar. It felt as if this was an endless journey. “Hello? Somebody? Anybody?” I called out to anyone who could possibly be here as well, but the only response I got was an echo. I sighed, and began to hear a whooshing sound. I decided to follow the sound as I felt it could have answers to my questions, or I could meet a human who understood what was going on here. I continued walking for a while, and behold, my eyes beheld what I had never thought could be real. It was a portal. This couldn’t be real. How could I be somewhere, and then finding a portal. It was just proof that I wasn’t in my world. “Hello.” I heard a gentle voice speak out. I turned to the direction of the voice, and to my surprise, it was a beautiful lady. She looked to beautiful to be real. Everything about her was just perfect. “I see you’re lost, and don’t know what’s going on.” She said, warmly. “I… I don’t. Can you help me get back home?” I asked, hoping that she would be able to help me out. “Young lady, you are in the middle of the other reality, and your human world. Here, this is the portal which would take you to the other reality where you have to complete your tasks before your body can be permitted to wake up.” The lady spoke up, but I didn’t seem to understand what she was saying. “You have gotten to a stage in your sickness whereby you’ll experience things you never thought you would experience. And you have to complete task whatever task given to you, or you’ll never wake up. You will rot here like a few other people, and would be forgotten in your world.” She explained, and I understood a bit better. Although, it was hard to believe, and yes, it was scary, but judging from her expression, there was no way I could escape this. “You should get into this portal before it reduces, and probably go to serve another person.” She advised, and then disappeared. I scoffed, and looked around. This couldn’t be true, right? It was just another nightmare, isn’t it? “A-ha! You almost got me to believe you! Just allow me wake up!” I yelled in frustration. Suddenly, I began to hear growling sounds, and the daylight turned to night. The only thing which had light was the whooshing portal. Whatever was coming closer to me was definitely not small or weak. It was dangerous. Without thinking, I jumped into the portal. “Aaaaahhhh!” I screamed as I fell into a seemingly endless hole which was the portal. Thump! That was the sound of my body, falling to the ground. “Ouch!” I winced in pain, and groaned as I tried to stand. I dusted off the sand on my body, and noticed that the portal was gone. “How the hell am I supposed to go back if I want to? Certainly, there were things which she had left out, and didn’t tell me about.” I said, through my teeth, and let out a low grumble. At least, here, it wasn’t as scary as that place, since there were no growling sounds. Although, it didn’t look promising enough that I won’t be scared. I cowardly looked around me to know where I was, if it was something, I could recognize in all the supernatural books I have ever read, but I still couldn’t get something which could trigger a memory. I was surprised to see myself in a world of darkness, though. The air was cold, and the night was spooky. The only sound I heard was the leaves rustling, and an owl hooting. “Where exactly am I? You can’t tell me this is just another reality.” I muttered under my breath in fear, with my eyes, searching around. Then I stumbled on a rock and fell to the ground, but rolled down the steep hill, and hit my head causing me to groan out in pain. “Ouch!” I winced in pain, and managed to stand quickly. The only thing giving light to this place was the bright crescent moon which seemed to me like it was there for me. Then I noticed a banner which had the inscription; “Find the Vampires’ Castle.” “Great. Where am I supposed to find the Vampires’ Castle?” I let out a deep sigh, although, I was scared. But one thing I had come to realize since I woke up in a strange place was that I had no choice than to do whatever I was to do here or I won’t be able to wake up. Out of nowhere, I noticed a path that led somewhere far. “I guess this path must be taking me towards the Vampires’ Castle.” I said, hoping it wasn’t a path, taking me to the strangest place. I walked on the path, and looked left and right, hoping that nothing would jump on me, and probably eat me up or haunt me until I give up. The trees seemed to be getting old, and their leaves were falling out as well. “So creepy.” I said softly and wrapped my arms around my body as the breeze felt chilly. “Adria.” I heard a voice call out my name softly and I gasped in fear as chills went down my spine, and I looked around, but saw no one.
