Chapter 4: The Unspoken Glance

As they arrived at the door of her next classroom, Ms. Cruz stopped and turned to face him. She gently took the stack of textbooks and the laptop case back from his arms, her movements entirely poised and effortless.

"Thank you so much, Dan," she said, offering him a sweet, genuine smile that made the corners of her eyes crinkle behind her dark-rimmed eyeglasses.

Dan stood there, his heart still pacing rapidly, the faint trace of her intoxicating vanilla scent lingering in the air between them.

Before turning to open the classroom door, Ms. Cruz paused and looked directly into his eyes, her expression turning encouraging. "I know calculus can be a bit daunting at this level. If you ever find yourself having any difficulty with the math problems or falling behind, please don't hesitate to ask me directly. I'd be more than happy to give you a personal tutorial."

Dan swallowed hard, nodding quickly as a fresh wave of heat brushed against his cheeks. "Y-yes, ma'am. Thank you, Ms. Cruz."

With one final, pleasant nod, she turned her back and stepped inside the classroom.

As she walked away, Dan's gaze involuntarily dropped. The tailored fabric of her slacks accentuated the gentle, rhythmic sway of her hips with every step, highlighting her perfectly round butt. Dan froze, a dangerously inappropriate thought flashing through his mind—his hands gripping those curves, pulling her against him. Caught off guard by his own reaction, he quickly shook his head, trying to dismiss the forbidden fantasy before it could take root.

Just as he did, Ms. Cruz suddenly glanced back over her shoulder. Her sharp eyes behind her eyeglasses caught Dan's exact gaze and his frantic, head-shaking reaction.

She turned her back to the room once more, a subtle, knowing smirk playing on her lips. It was a fleeting, private moment—completely unnoticed by the students milling about in the busy hallway—leaving Dan standing completely frozen in the corridor, his body still humming with a tension he couldn't name.
