Chapter 17: Heartbeat

.........1 month later.........

Ashlyn POV

I was now sporting a small bump where my pup was growing, Cillian and I were sitting in the doctors office waiting to be called back to the room with the ultrasound. We were going to get the first peak at our pup, we were going to hear the little one's heartbeat. 

"Alpha, Luna, please follow me." We stood and followed Canary to a room with a bed and a stool next to a cart with a TV screen on the top. I was layed back on the bed after taking off my shirt and handing it to Cillian, leaving me in a sports bra. Cillian stood at my feet massaging them lightly while Canary put a cold gel on my stomach.

"ooo, thats chilly." I said with a small shiver, Cillian laughed while Canary apologized.

"Sorry Luna." 

"It's alright Canary." I said as she brought the sensor to my small bump and rubbing the gel around with it. Cillian and I watched the TV screen and saw a black hole with a grey shape inside. I smiled at my little one as we listened to the heartbeat, it was strong and clear. 

{Crescent, what do you think?}

(I have never heard anything so satisfying before.)

Boy or girl?

(I don't care, I just want to hold our pup.)

Me too. We should think of names soon.

(I like the name Hailey.)

"Cill?"

"Hmmm?" He said looking down at me.

"Cres likes the name Hailey." He smiled down at me and chuckled.

"Reap, likes the name Hunter." I giggled as Crescent purred inside my head.

(I like the way our mate thinks Ash.)

Me too Crescent.

"Cres approves adamantly."

"Reap approves of his mate's choice as well." Crescent purred out loud this time as she jumped to the surface. Cillian's eyes went black as Reaper joined us.

"You guys are all done here." Canary said smiling as she wiped the gel from my stomach, I pulled my shirt back on and we went to the desk where we were given an envelope after we payed for our visit. We went to the office and opened the envelope to see the ultrasound pictures. I took out my phone and took a picture and sent it to Ed with a short text.

"Meet your god pup Ed!" I hit send then traced my finger over my small bean. Cillian pulled me into his lap as our computer dinged. We received an email from Dead-thorn, Alpha Darius wanted to come to our home to finish the paperwork for our alliance. 

"I can wear some of your large sweatshirts, seeing as my bump is still small." I said knowing it wouldn't work. I smelled different, not like my usual self. Cillian said I smelled like coconut and cherries, a mix of our two scents, our pup smelled amazing in other words. 

"I think I should go there and finish the paperwork on his turf as planned, I'll be gone for a few days and I'll bring Ed a copy of the ultrasound." I nodded hesitantly with a sigh.

"I just don't like the idea of you leaving, for over 24 hours." I leaned on him and he sighed as he rubbed my back.

"I know babe but the alliance needs to be done, and I don't want him here while you're pregnant. We may be forming an alliance but I don't trust him."

"I'm aware of that Cill, which is why I'm not insisting on going with you, I just insist that you take Terrance and Dimitri." 

"I will, now I must insist that you keep at least four guards around you until I come home. I want you to stay safe." 

"I promise Cill." He gave my temple a small kiss before typing an email to Alpha Darius.

  "Alpha Darius,

  I would also like to finish the Alliance, but I would like to join you in Dead-thorn so I can check on my warriors and see Ed, I have something to hand him personally from Luna Ashlyn. I would also like to see how much your warriors have improved in the month Ed has been training them.

 Alpha Cillian." 

I stood from Cillian's lap and stretched before taking his hand and heading to the training grounds. We found Dimitri and Brody running drills with Anastasia and Kaylee, by their sides.

"Brody!" I called out, he turned to me and said something to his warriors before jogging over.

"Yes Luna?" He asked breathlessly.

"Alpha Cillian is going to be leaving for a few days and insists I have 4 warriors accompany me until he comes home, would you pick the warriors who will do so? I trust you and your opinion." Brody gave me a large smile before answering me.

"It would be my honor Luna Ashlyn, I'm glad you put your trust in me." 

"You are one of my most trusted next to Ed and Dimitri, Brody." I said smiling back at him. "I would like you to choose 12 warriors, they can have rotating shifts so each wolf has time with their family each day. Dimitri will be going with Cillian and Terrance, if you and Anastasia would like to go, you may, I just ask you send me the names of the warriors by tomorrow evening so I can work out the best shifts for them."

"It will be done Luna Ashlyn. I will speak to Anastasia and ask her if she would like to go to Dead-thorn for a few days, I'll give you her answer with the list."

"Perfect! Thank you Brody. Would you mind sending Dimitri over?" 

"Not at all Luna!" Brody said before running back to the warriors who were waiting. He said something to Dimitri who nodded and took his turn jogging up to us.

"Alpha Cillian, Luna Ashlyn. How can I assist you today?" He asked when he reached us.

"Dimitri I have to head back to Dead-thorn and Luna Ashlyn has insisted I take you with me. We would be gone for a few days while I finished the alliance paperwork with Alpha Darius." Cillian said from beside me.

"It would be my honor Alpha." Dimitri said, his face was a bit off, he was usually more relaxed than he was.

"Cill? Would you mind getting me a snack I'm getting peckish." I asked, on cue my stomach rumbled and he chuckled, he nodded and kissed my forehead before turning and walking off. I turned back to Dimitri was watching Cillian go. "Dimitri is everything alright? You aren't acting like yourself." He looked down at me and gave me a small smile.

"I think Kaylee is pregnant, but I have only known her for two weeks." He said with a sad smile.

"Why do you think that?" I asked softly.

"She smells different, she wont let me touch her on her stomach, she is getting sick a lot too. What do I do Luna Ashlyn, I don't think the pup is mine." I sighed and watched as a small tear slid from his face. "I knew she didn't save herself, but I didn't judge because I didn't either. But I always made sure I wouldn't have pups with a wolf who wasn't mine."

"I think you need to talk to her Dimitri." I said lightly. "Give her the chance to come clean and put it all out on the table. Tell her you are leaving for a few days with Alpha Cillian, then tell her about your suspicions. If she denies it all, you are going to have to wait a few more months until a bump really forms or not. I'll keep eyes on her while you're gone, so she doesn't do anything stupid." 

"Thank you Luna Ashlyn." Dimitri said before taking my hand and squeezing it. "I'm happy you are the Luna of Moon-lake and your twin isn't." I giggled and squeezed his hand back. 

"And I am elated that you have become one of the most trusted warriors Cillian and I have." Dimitri smiled and let go of my hand before turning back to his warriors and jogging back to continue training. I watched Kaylee and watched the way she drifted away from Dimitri and placed a hand on a tiny lift in her abdomen. I could only see it because I knew what I was looking for. She was pregnant and judging by the size of the lift, it couldn't be Dimitri's. I was so focused on watching Kaylee I didn't hear Cillian walk up until he said my name. I turned to him and he handed me a banana nut muffin, which I devoured right there. Cillian took a small bite and I threw the garbage away before we walked home.

"Is Dimitri okay, he seemed off." Cillian asked after he closed the front door. 

"He thinks Kaylee is pregnant, but he isn't sure if it his." I said honestly. 

(Cillian: We should talk here about this, tell me.) He opened our mate link as we sat on the leather couch. I explained it all to him, he listened intently as I replayed the whole conversation, then what I saw while i was watching Kaylee.

(Cillian: So she is pregnant?)

(Ashlyn: I have no doubt about it, she has a teeny tiny lift in her abdomen I'm guessing four to five weeks.)

(Cillian: Shit.)

(Ashlyn: I know, I feel terrible that Dimitri has to go through this.)

(Cillian: Me too Ash.) I sighed into him as an episode of Top Gear rerun rambled on the TV. I watched as Guns N Roses guitarist s***h talked to the camera. I was thankful when Cillian flipped the channel to a movie called I, Frankenstein. I heard a ping and Cillian pulled out his phone and held his phone in front of both of us, so I could see. He opened an email from Alpha Darius and I read it.

"Alpha Cillian,

 That sounds good, I'll expect you in three days. I wish you safe travels on your journey here, see you soon.

 Alpha Darius."

"We have three days to make you forget to miss me Ash." Cillian said seductively making me wet while he put his phone away. 

............Alpha Darius POV.........

Just f*****g perfect! Alpha Cillian all but ordered he come here. I growled to myself as I tried to think of a way to hide Alexa from him when all she does is eat and stare off into space. Her stomach grew in the past month and I had no doubt she was pregnant now. I was going to reject her right away, but I decided to wait until the alliance with Moon-lake was completed. Alexa was now training lightly compared to the others as Ed was somehow aware of her condition. Her mother babied her even more now that the pregnancy hormones made her cry about everything. 

(I want this alliance so I can be rid of her and her wolf.) Grimm growled in my head after she walked past us in the hallway one day. We had been in the library looking into the powers of Crescent wolves, most importantly a black one. I found something saying they are commanding and dominant in all walks of life, including in their s*x life. It wasn't uncommon to find bruises on the mate of the wolf, but should you remark on it both the mate and the Crescent wolf would probably kill you. They had an incredible amount of intelligence, not as much as the brown wolves, but close. They were known to ruthless and amazing Alpha's, their pack loved them. I was skimming through the book when I found something extremely interesting. The mate of any color Crescent wolf would modify and their fur would display the color of their mate. Most of the time it would show on their back, a bit of different colored fur mixed with theirs.

"That's interesting." I said as I looked at the book. I skimmed a few more pages and found a small note on one of the pages. I had to grab a magnifying glass just to read the tiny writing. 

"The blood line of Slate continues as Caldon's son produces his own pup." I sighed in confusion as to why someone would write this in the book. I flipped the page and found a picture of a large grey wolf labeled Slate.

"The only silver Crescent wolf to have ever existed, he was immensely powerful, yet he was Beta to a Harden, a black Crescent wolf. Reports say he would have been stronger than Harden, but he wanted a simple life with his mate Anetta. One day a silver Crescent will be born and shall lead a pack and show the true potential of Slate's bloodline. The wolf will have all the best qualities of the other Crescent wolves and have other gifts, few other wolves can posses."  I read the words aloud and sighed. God meeting with Alpha Cillian again was going to be a b***h.
