Darian's POV

1085 Words
The last few hours had been torturous. Not the shots. They stung but they were not as bad as holding back myself. "Darian? " Everytime she kept calling my name I felt like tearing open my skin an reaching out. It was now almost the end of the day. I finally felt my eyelids move. " Darian! " She called my name again and her hands were again reaching out to my face. I moved one finger. It worked. Then another. Voila! She looked at my hand. " It's working. Thank goodness. " She grabbed my fingers between her palms and rubbed them tenderly and soft. I now felt the senses coming back on my toe. Hazal looked at the clock. " Its almost time Darian. Time for your last shot. " She ran this time to fetch the syringe from the freezer. " Here! " She smiled as she got it ready, tapping the end to release any trapped air bubble. She turned me over again on my face, pulling my pant down to expose the other butt cheek. She rubbed it with a disinfectant. It was something alcoholic. It aught to have felt cold like the ones before, but this time that my senses were coming around her touch at my butt felt completely different. I was thankful that I was turned over. The heat building up inside me could have had an embarrassing effect. She sent the liquid inside. It went inside burning through my veins. Every cell came back to life. Darn that crazy dog. Butter or whatever her name was. Hazal slid her hand under me to turn me back on my back. I grabbed her hand. " Darian. " She was laughing out this time with joy. I extended my other hand and just said, " Hazal, my belt. " " Ah!" I didn't she her face but she surely blushed. " I am so sorry. Here. Here it is. " She handed me the belt and looked at another direction. I pulled my pants back to its place and belted it secure. " Hazal. " I called her this time the way I used to call her name in my dreams. She did not turn around this time. Neither did she respond. I jumped off that platform bed. " Hazal? " I walked cautiously towards her this time. Had I done anything just now which made her feel offended. I did not understand. I grabbed her by the arms and turned her slowly to face towards myself. She was crying. Soundless. Motionless. No sobs. Tears just rolled down her cheeks. "Hazal! " I pulled her and she landed on my chest. It felt like my heart was about to explode. My hands went for her head as she grasped by back. " Are yoh really back? " She asked . Really low. I didn't know if she asked it to herself or it was directed at me. " I am, " I held her tighter. Suddenly she started hitting me. I was taken aback. She landed one strong blow after another on my chest. I let her. " What took you so long? Darian. Tell me. Answer me. Did you not miss us? Me? What held you back. I could not go back. But you could have come. Couldn't you? Couldn't you have come earlier? Didn't you think about me at all? Didn't you want to know if I was dead or living? " Finally all her frustrations ended in huge sobs. Everything melted away from my head seeing her like that. I wanted to take her in my arms and run away. Runaway as far away as I could. Just the two of us. Nothing else. No worries about our tribes. I wiped the tears from her face. I lifted her face to meet my eyes. " Hazal look at me. " Her long lashes slowly lifted themselves. Like some distant fantasy butterflies. It wasn't just her. Even my insides were screaming. I too was too afraid to believe that I was finally holding her in reality. " Hazal. I am sorry. " There was much more, much more that I wanted to say. She raised herself, standing on tip toe. Her hands went around my neck. That was the end of my self restraint. I grabbed her head and went straight for her lips. No more holding back. She dived deeper. Both of us, loosing ourselves in the moment. As our souls did the talking. We were having that long awaited conversation, which we failed to articulate. "Hazal... Hazal... Haz... " Just then that friend of her's. What was the name? Yeah, Jacklin. She came running from nowhere. But stopped as soon as she opened the door. We turned towards her. Both at the same time. Unwilling. But we had to break our embrace. " Uummm, I... I am sorry . I, umm, didn't mean to disturb... " " Just spit it out Jacklin. What was it that you came to say? " Hazal's voice really was annoyed. " Oh! Yes. About that. The Council called for you and the Night Crawler at the Governance House as soon as he came around. " " He ' Just' came around Jacklin. We are coming. " Hazal was still pissed. She was hissing at her friend between gritted teeth. " Do you know anything about my other friends? " I asked Jacklin. I had to. I had come there with a purpose. With a mission. " Yeah. They have. There were three others. They are all waiting for you. I have briefed them about your situation because they were worried. " The girl was smiling at me as she said that. " Thank you Jacklin. " Hazal was again glaring her down. " Oh! By the way Cara was also there with one of his friends. I mean she had brought him there. I sent her back home because I knew you would be busy for the whole day. " Jacklin turned towards Hazal while giving the information. " Cara? Went to the Governance House with a vampire? " Hazal looked towards me and then back at her friend. " Okay. Lets go there and see what's happening. " She turned towards me again. " Darian? Shall we? " She asked. Her voice very professional this time. I nodded. " After you. " She grabbed my hands and we darted out of the place , zooming. Just like old times.
