Chapter 13; Founders day

2416 Words
Lilly I felt like I was back in 1864 all over again, seeing Stefan in one of his suits from back when we were human, and Elena looked exactly like Katherine. The town was celebrating the 150th birthday of Mystic Falls, and of course they had to celebrate the day the town was foundered. They went all out by throwing a parade with the high school students, there was even a float for the winner and runners up of Miss Mystic Falls, which included Stefan and Elena, even though Stefan wasn’t actually there. As soon as the parade was over I made a beeline straight to the grill not even bothering to look for my brothers. I needed a drink, me being around these humans was not a good idea when I’m bored. Looking around the grill my eyes landed on Jeremy who was sat on his own, grabbing my drink I walked over to him taking a seat at the table he was sat at. Stefan told me that Jeremy knew the truth about everything, and now he’s pissed off at Elena for keeping it from him and getting Damon to take his pain away. “How are you Jeremy?” I asked as he looked up at me. “Go away Lilly” He snapped sending me a glare making me chuckle. Silly human. “You’re taking this whole thing out on the wrong person. Damon was the one that took away your pain” “She lied to me” He stated making me shrug. “So, what did you want her to let you become a shell of yourself? Life gets complicated for humans when they get mixed up with the supernatural, so why don’t you give your sister a break and stop acting like a little child who doesn’t get what it wants” “Go to hell Lilly” He spoke before standing up and leaving the grill. “Already there” I chuckled before standing up myself going to follow him. I was gonna kill the little child for even thinking that he could talk to me like that. As I walked outside I stood in my tracks as I spotted Damon talking to Jeremy and it didn’t look like a friendly chat. “Don’t ever talk to my sister like that, ever” Damon warned him making me raise my eyebrows, whys he sticking up for me? “What? So you’re gonna kill me because I hurt poor Lilly’s feeling?” Jeremy asked him. “Now, but you’re lucky she didn’t kill you, she’s a lot stronger than you… And from now on, lay off your sister. She was protecting you, I was the one who erased your memories, so if you want to blame anyone, blame me” “It wasn’t her call to make” Jeremy snapped, I rolled my eyes before walking back into the bar not interested in the conversation, I don’t even know why I got involved in the first place. It was stupid, I don’t even like Elena so I don’t even know why I was trying to help her, I hope nothing but bad luck for her. I don’t even know why I’m still in this pony town, but something was stopping me and I didn’t have a clue as to what, but something told me that I should stay in town. “We have a problem, and when I say problem, I mean a big problem” I looked to my right, my eyes landing on Damon. “What problem are we talking about? Newbie vampire or Elena problem?” I asked having a drink of the wine I had, turning my head away from him. “A tomb vampire problem” He stated making me snap my head back towards him, shaking my head, we should have known this was gonna happen. “They want revenge on the founding families, they’re gonna attack when the fireworks go off” “That’s what John wanted with the invention” I mumbled as everything finally clicked in to place. I downed my drink before sliding out of my seat. “Looks like we’ve got some vampires to kill” Damon went to get Ric to see if he’d help, while I went to look for Elena and Stefan. “Come on” I spoke as I linked my arm with Elena’s as we walked around the town square. “Uh, what are you doing?” Elena asked confused. “Saving your life, so do as I say” I told her before looking at Stefan. “Tomb vamps are here, founding families are their target. Get her out of here, now” I told Stefan before going to walk off but Stefan stopped me. “Wait-Wait, where are you going?” I shook my head. “Don’t worry about me, get your girlfriend out of here, now!” I told him before walking off blending in, while Damon went to go speak to John to try and stop him, while Rico went to get his trusty stakes. Once those fireworks go off, it’s go time and I was gonna be killing a lot of vamps. I stood around, blending in the crowd as Maylor Lockwood gave his speech and by the looks of it, he knew what was going off, making me think this was the founding families plan all along. I just hope Bonnie didn’t screw us over with the invention. “150 years, Mystic Falls has been the kind of town that everybody wants to call home, safe, prosperous, welcoming, and we have the founders to thank for that. That’s why I’d like to dedicate this evenings fireworks display to their legacy” Everybody started clapping and cheering while I scanned the crowd over seeing a couple of people who wasn’t clapping as they walked through the crowd. “Enjoy the show!” Mayor Lockwood shouted just as the fireworks started. I looked back at the Mayor who was walking with Carol no doubt making a quick get away, but before I could even take notice of it, I fell to my knees grabbing my head trying to make the high-pitched noise stop. It felt like my head was about to explode, like it was burning from the inside. It was the worst pain I have ever felt, it didn’t last long as I felt a needle being stabbed into my neck, knocking me unconscious. Vervain. The first thing I noticed as I finally started to come back around was that I was in a room with other unconscious vampires, the second thing I noticed was that they were the tomb vampires. I turned my head to the right looking for my brothers but I could only see Damon, who was laid next to me. “Damon” I whispered feeling weak, I’m gonna kill John Gilbert and Bonnie, I knew she didn’t do the spell! He turned his head towards me looking weak himself, but before he could say anything John came walking down the wooden stairs, a deputy behind him who was dragging down a vampire. “The device is done, the only thing keeping them down now is the vervain. We don’t have much time, let’s finish this” John told him just as something wet was thrown on me, Gasoline. If I die I’m gonna haunt all their arses, starting with John Gilbert. I turned my head to look at John who was staring down at Anna. “You can head up, I’ll take it from here” John told the deputy, and once he left John shoved a stake into Anna’s heart before heading upstairs throwing more gasoline about. I flicked my eyes around trying to figure out a way to get out of here, even though I was weak, but before I could think too much the gasoline was turned into flames at the top of the stairs before spreading onto the other vampires. Thankfully it didn’t spread over to me and Damon straight away, so we had time to figure out a way out of here, and when we do I’m gonna kill Bonnie, then I’m going for John, I’ll rip his precious lifesaving ring off his finger before killing him to make sure he stays dead. “The witch did this” I gritted out as I tried to sit up, leaning on my elbows. “I know” Damon whispered giving me a weak smile. “I told you this would happen, but no you still handed it over” I shook my head. “Where’s Stefan? Can you see him?” I asked looking over the vampires not seeing my little brother anywhere, hopefully he got away in time. “What the hell are you doing here?” I asked as my eyes landed on the Mayor, he wasn’t a vampire, I know that for definite. Damon looked over at the Mayor shocked raising his eyebrows. “What are you both doing here?” He fired back. “We’re vampires, what’s your excuse?” Damon asked making him start to slide backwards, further away from us, but closer to a vengeful tomb vampire. “The vervain didn’t affect, you’re not a vampire. What the hell are you?” Instead of answering he carried on shuffling backwards closer to the tomb vamps. “I wouldn’t do that if I was you” Damon told him noticing that the mayor was basically sitting on top of a tomb vampire, but it was too late since the vamp snapped the mayors neck. “We need to get out of here Damon” I spoke as I pushed myself up further onto my knees, the building starting to collapse. “LILLY! DAMON!” I sighed hearing Stefans voice from the top of the stairs. “Down here” I coughed, the smoke starting to affect me. Using his vampire speed he rushed down the stairs over to us both, throwing me over his shoulder and held Damon up as he rushed us back up the stairs and out into the fresh air. He placed me down onto the floor as I started having a coughing fit thanks to the smoke. Once I stopped I looked up my eyes landing on Elena who was stood next to Bonnie Bennett. Using the little strength I had, I rushed over to the witch wrapping my hand around her neck, stopping her supply of oxygen. “You little witchy b***h, you lied! I could have died!” I gritted out keeping my grip on her. “Lilly, stop! She helped save you. Let her go, please” Elena begged thinking she had me wrapped round her finger like she does my brother. “I’m not my brothers Elena” I told her before looking back at Bonnie. “Next time you try and pull a stunt like that, I will kill you. Got it” I warned her before rushing back to the boarding house so I could get a bloodbag and change my clothes since I looked a mess. I knew we couldn’t trust a Bennett, they’re all conniving witches, do what’s best for them all the time! After having a couple of bloodbags to build up my strength I made my way back to the grill, it was either alcohol or the town’s residents. I chose the safer route, alcohol, I can just have some more bloodbags later when I get back home. I compelled myself a bottle of whiskey and a glass as I sat at the bar noticing it was packed with all the towns folks, including Stefan who was stood talking to Elena and I couldn’t help but listen in. “I try so hard to hate them both, I guess it’s just pointless” My eyebrows shot up, who knew that Stefan wanted to hate us, he acts like he wants us to become one big happy, dysfunctional family. “You care about them, so do I… but I love you Stefan and I know that you’re worried about that, with Damon” Elena told him softly making me roll my eyes. “You know, I just, you know, I know my brother” I rolled my eyes blanking out the rest of the conversation since they were getting too sloppy for my liking. I came to this town to stop Damon from getting Katherine back and to ruin Stefan’s life, instead I’ve ended up helping them to protect Elena and rescue Stefan from a bunch of vengeful vampires. Stefan saved my life tonight, he could’ve left me there, be free of me, but instead he came and saved me, as well as Damon. I could’ve died and he saved me, even after all the times I’ve ruined his life. So why did he save me? I know he’s always had good in him, even now as a vampire, unlike me, unlike Damon. I’ve never had good in me, not when I was human, not now. I snapped out of my thoughts hearing my phone ring. “Hello, drunk and depressed Lilly speaking” I slurred into the phone only now realising how much I had, had to drink. “Lilly, sober yourself up and get to the hospital ASAP, Caroline’s in the hospital, there was a crash” Damon told me before putting the phone down. What the hell? I’m not the hero out of the 3 of us, Stefan is. I rolled my eyes before downing the drink and making my way to the hospital, maybe I can sneak a bloodbag from there.
