Old Friend

Kiara POV

We reached court around 10.30 am. As expected, there was a great rush. It almost took us 4 hours to complete the formalities. After everything was done, Ryan and I went to a nearby café. While Ryan went outside to take an important call, suddenly someone patted my shoulder. The touch was well known as I was about to turn back, I heard a girly voice.

Kiara, is this you ? Mira asked, somehow shocked and excited at the same time. I thought you had vanished somewhere. Where the hell have you been? Wait, let's not talk here. Let's come to my place. It's really been a long time – saying that she held my hand and was about to go when I stopped her.

I hugged Mira. It has really been a long time since I had met her. She was my college friend. We were not that close, but still I can count her as one of my few friends.

I was really happy to see her. I have never forgotten any of my close ones but my life got in such a situation where I have to depart from them. It was not my choice, it was my destiny- I told myself in my mind.

I called Ryan and told him I was going home with my friend, no need to worry. Mira was saying to go to her house but as my house was near I convinced her about it. On the way, we got some food for lunch and a few candies and chips. Mira was shocked to see that I was buying things like I had a kid to feed. Well!! It was true, but she didn't know it- I thought and smiled.

After reaching home, Mira asked confusedly- I didn't know you both would shift here. The surrounding area is very crowded and you have a lot of neighbors.

Well, I like places full of people, so I never get time to be bored- I said, and we both laughed. God knows how hell I have missed you both. After marriage you both totally vanished, no contact, no meeting, nothing. Were you not in India for the last 4 years- she asked casually.

But her question made me tense. I was thinking what if she calls Aiden and tells her she is with me. Why the hell did I take her with me? I was thinking about all this. Suddenly she said" btw where is Aiden? I have not seen him as well for the last 4 years. Are you guys still on your honeymoon? She said teasingly, even though I don't have his number now. That's the sentence which made me relaxed.

I didn't say anything and soon there was a knock on the door. I was in the kitchen unpackaging the lunch. That's why Mira opened the door. There came my muffin running towards me calling Mumma with the sweetest smile!!

Hey! Baby, I think you have knocked on the wrong door"- Mira said and bent down to talk to my baby. Kian was about to say something, but before that he saw me and ran towards me, calling me Mumma. Seeing this, Mira was somehow shocked, but managed to get herself in front of Kian and sat on the Sofa. I excused her and went to Kian's room to put him in bed and gave him some candies and wafers for snacks.

Soon I went back to Mira before I could say anything. Mira jumped from her seat and said, Kiara, are you serious, is he your baby?" to which I nodded yes. God Damn I can't believe Aiden and you have planned this so early and even you both didn't care to tell us, are we strangers to both of you now? It's totally unacceptable. You guys, were like sharing little moments with us and this is such a big thing. I am so happy for both of you and Mira hugged me. Seeing all this, I was in a dilemma about whether to tell Mira the truth or stay silent as it's only for one day. Tomorrow I will go back to Canada and I don't want anyone to know about us. After fighting in my mind, I decided not to tell her.

We had chit-chat for almost 2 hours as Kian was already on his afternoon nap. I didn't realize how time had passed. For a safer side, I have texted Ryan to stay away from home until Mira is here. I don't want her to get any suspicion. Now it was almost 4.30 pm and Mira was about to go.

Then suddenly a message popped up on her phone screen. Seeing the message, her eyes sparkled. She turned toward me and said,-Kiara, I almost forgot to inform you that today is the reunion day. As you are here, please come with Kian and you guys have not attended it for the last 4 years. We guys really missed you and I am sure they would love to meet your baby.- She said with a broad smile. I was about to say no, but Mira interrupted. Please don't say no or give me Aiden's number. I will comfort him. I was in a situation where neither I could say no to her nor I could give her his number.

After thinking a lot, I finally decided to give a quick visit and, as Aiden has not been contactable and attended the reunion in recent years, he will not get the dream that I am coming there. I bid goodbye to Mira and went inside the house. After a time, Ryan also came.
