Save my mate

Chapter 2

Raizen's refusal to take another mate led to oppositions rising up in his pack, aiming to disqualify him as the alpha because he doesn't have a Luna. Originally his pack members have been lenient with him because of the help he offered during the war against the hunters. But with time, his help during the war no longer mattered again, as some people began eyeing the position of the alpha. They have tried challenging Raizen for the position, but he have beaten them everytime, which led to them wanting to remove him by default, for not having a Luna. Unknown to almost all the wolves in the Canine's pack, the opposition was secretly started by El-sha, who did it to force Raizen to take her as his mate. She played on the desire of some of those eyeing the position of the alpha. She coerced them to start the opposition by threatening and blackmailing some of them, she also bargained and made deals with others, and for some others she merely influenced them by manipulating their pride either by herself, or through some loyal wolves under her, especially some beautiful female ones. She started with a small number of people which have greatly increased with time. With the way the opposition keeps on increasing, it won't be long before the elders in the pack will either denounce Raizen as the alpha by default or he will be forced to take her as his mate. Normally the position of alpha is gotten by either defeating the current alpha, or by proofing to be the strongest werewolf in the pack, or by being chosen by the Selena the goddess of the moon. Raizen got the position of alpha by proofing to be the strongest alpha in the pack, and his mate became the Luna. But because his mate is dead, the position of Luna have been empty for a long, and it has caused agitations among the werewolves in his pack.

Raizen sniffed the air as they got closer to the bear's location. The smell of blood was thick in the air, but that was not what caught Raizen's attention. The scent of the blood was masking another scent.........., The scent of a wolf, and for some reason he found himself drawn to that scent. He paused as they finally arrived at the bear's location. The bear was lying dead, torn in many places and covered in it's own blood. It was it's blood that they had been smelling all this while.

Raizen walked forward and sniffed around the dead bear. The scent of the werewolf he had been perceiving all this while was all over the bear, which brought him to the conclusion that it was that werewolf that killed the bear. He found himself getting more drawn to the werewolf's scent and he wondered why. Whatever it is that draws him to this strange wolf's scent, he will find out by tracking the wolf down.

He sniffed around and found the direction that the strange wolf took, but he suddenly realized that there was an issue. Apart from the strange wolf's scent, he have also perceived the scent of three other wolves when he got to this location. And this three other wolves scent also followed the direction of the strange wolf he felt drawn to. He couldn't help but have a feeling in his gut that that this three wolves mean trouble for the strange werewolf.

"I definitely wasn't the only one that came bear hunting", Raizen thought. "I will be back", he voiced out loud and sprinted to the direction the strange wolf took. "Raizen, wait......", El-sha called out but Raizen didn't respond, neither did he turn back.

"You all should go back to camp..........take the bear with you", El-sha ordered the young werewolves. And turning to the four betas she said, "come with me", then she started running towards the direction Raizen took with the four betas following right behind her.

El-sha knew why Raizen darted away, she had also perceived the scent of the four werewolves, same as him. She knew who three of those werewolves were from their scents. They were part of the Canine's pack. But she had no idea who the fourth wolf was. She haven't perceived it's scent before, which is very strange because she pretty much knows everyone in the Canine's pack. She also had no idea that Raizen was drawn to the strange wolf, neither did she know why. She had no idea that her carefully plotted plans were about to be scattered, and her dreams of being a Luna was about to be challenged.

Raizen's sprint graduated into a full blown run. There was a big boulder blocking the path ahead. Raizen quickly jumped over it. His clothes ripped off him as he transformed into his full werewolf form in mid air, before landing with a heavy thud. His werewolf form is pure black in color, with glowing red eyes. And very huge in size. Immediately Raizen's leg touched the ground he continued his running, but this time he ran on all fours, which boosted his speed immensely.

El-sha arrived at the boulder and saw Raizen's ripped clothes. Without wasting time she quickly shifted into her own wolf form, and the four betas followed suit.

Being in an enemy territory made Amerada to move very cautiously, as she would occasionally stop to scan her surroundings, and listen carefully for any sound. After which she will continue her journey.

As Amerada moved, she couldn't help but think about the alpha of 'The Claws' pack. She heard that he lost his mate in a fight against hunters. (Hunters are highly trained humans that hunts down supernatural beings and creatures, by using gadgets and weapons made from mostly silver and mercury. They also used a variety of other elements and equipments that supernatural beings and creatures have a weakness to, like; garlic, mistletoe, silver bullets and swords, mercury bombs, a special powder, a special chalk, oaken stake e.t.c). Amerada also couldn't help but wonder what caused the enmity between her pack and The Claws pack. Growing up, she had heard that the two packs used to be very close before, but what then made them to become enemies ?.

Amerada stopped moving as she saw the bear devouring an antelope underneath a big tree some distance away from her. She followed her predatory instinct and immediately crouched down on all fours, and started approaching the bear slowly. As a huntress she knows that she has sneak up to the bear till she was within striking distance before attacking.

As she sneakily approached the bear, she mistakenly stepped on a twig which immediately snapped under her weight and made a noise. The bear raised it's head from it's meal to check out what caused the noise, and it's eyes landed on Amerada.

Now that the bear have already seen Amerada, she quickly rushed at it. Suddenly seeing a big creature rushing towards it, the bear stood and made a loud growl in challenge. It rushed at her too, with it's mouth wide open. They both made contact, and the bear was sent flying due to the impact. Before it could get itself, Amerada was already on it delivering lethal blows with her claws, causing the bear grave injuries. Bears might be strong predators, but werewolves are powerful apex predators. The bear stood no chance as it gave a loud growl and breathed it's last.

Amerada looked at her prey dead beneath her with a satisfied grin. As she bent to pick it up she suddenly heard the sounds of leaves shuffling and twigs breaking all around her. She immediately stood up in alert, and watched as three big male werewolves from the claws pack made their way towards her from three different corners. Just like her, they were also in their werewolves form, but their werewolf form is bigger than hers, and looked menacing too.

Amerada's grin vanished from her face as she realized that she have been caught.
