Mckenzie- My mom drops me off at school. "Have a fun day at school" she calls before pulling away. I head over to my boy bestfriend Anthony and 2 of his friends. Anthony has dirty blonde almost brown curly hair, his eyes are blue, and he's taller than me. plus he's skinny with some muscles. "I heard that this virus might be the zombie virus." Anthony says in a mysterious tone. "If it is I'm sacrificing you to save myself." I say as I hit him playfully. One of his friends with blonde hair laughs "Who to say he won't sacrifice you?" I quirk an eyebrow and pretend to think. "I don't know, maybe because I'm smarter than him?" That earns me around of laughter by his friends. "Did you have to go there?" Anthony says with a smile on his face. I shrug and look at who approaching. Angela struts up to the school doors and flips her hair. She has straight, blonde, and short hair with some brown on top. She has blue eyes and some pimples. She a little shorter than me and has some curves. "Guys I'm really scared about what their saying." Angela says. I smirk Angela and I have been off and on friends since 2nd grade. Repeatedly she has stabbed me in the back and than acts like the victim. When I went into high school I decided to wash my hands of her. So for her to be here casually talking to me was a joke. "I don't care." Anthony says as he turns to start whispering to his friends. "Well you should because if you don't, You'll die." she crosses her arms and glare at him. "Angela nothing going to happen and no one will die just calm down." I say annoyed with her. She sighs dramatically "I just don't want you guys to get hurt." Almost instantly her lip quivers and and tear falls down her face. She sure did love trying to get all eyes on her. "good for you." Anthony simply states. Just like me, Anthony and Angela had some on again off again relationship. They always hurt eachother but unlike Angela. Anthony never forgets and sometimes never forgives. Last time she made a drastic lie against him to his older cousin. Since than he avoided her. The bell rings and we head inside to breakfast. Despite how hungry I felt I wasn't going to eat. I had gained two pounds and I hated my self for it. Anthony didn't have that issue he grabbed himself a tray of biscuits and gravy and we sat at Junior table. Junior had short brown hair and brown eyes. he was as tall as Anthony with more muscles. He also wore glasses that suited him. "Where your food Kenzie?" Junior says suspiciously. He was one of my close friends and my ex. He cared more about my well being than I did. Let alone always made sure I did what I needed to to take care of myself. I shrug, "I'm not hungry." "That not a good enough excuse. At least get an apple." He says daring me to go against him. "I ate before I got here" I lied. I couldn't tell him the truth and I didn't want to eat either. He just needed to accept it. "your lying." He says casually as he takes a bite of his breakfast. "Why can't you just believe me and drop it?" I glare at him. This was annoying I'm not a kid and I shouldn't be treated like this by a friend. "should I remind you of last time?" he says. Last time I didn't eat for days and I almost passed out in school. That when Junior decided to make sure I ate in front of him. I get up and make a show of me grabbing a red apple. While everyone looking at me I take a obnoxious Bite from it and sit back down. "happy?" I say chewing loudly. Anthony and Junior laugh hysterically. "Ya definitely." Junior says. The rest of breakfast I listen to Anthony and Junior talk about the virus. It surprised how much they seemed interested, almost worried about it. When the bell rings we all head to class. This already feels like a long day. _______________________________________ Anthony- I'm not the type to just believe in anything. But I saw the videos online of people ripping someone up and eating them alive. When I talked to my mom about it she brushed it off. She told me it was fake and not to believe it. It was to late though, I did and wanted to talk about it with others who believed it. Junior was practically a best friend and even though we was extremely different we thought alike. "Why are you and Junior so worried about this?" Mckenzie says looking at me curiously. Mckenzie had straight hair that she dyed red almost peach looking. Her eyes were brown and she has a birthmark on her chin. plus she wore a little bit of natural looking makeup. "I'm not it's just interesting." I say to her as we walk into science. I didn't want her to know that I wasn't worried, I was scared. "It's not real so you will be fine." she smiles at me sweetly. For all our sake, I hope she right. First and second hour go by in a blur. Sitting in 3rd hour the teacher looks traumatized. "Class were not going to learn about our usual. Today I'm going to teach you about the real problem going on just outside." She pulls up the video I saw and presses play. I stare at this crazy looking woman confused. I don't think this video did something to her to make her have that look in her eyes. So I wonder exactly what did. What has she witnessed? "Do you see those things?" she says on the verge of tears. "look at them even if they was once ur family don't trust them. EVER!" She balling now and on the floor. "please don't do what I did. Even if they are your family don't trust them." The principal rushes in with a teacher and gently whispers to her as he leads her out of the room. Mr. Lee looks at us and says "take the rest of the time to get work done from other classes." How will I move on from this now? I head to seminar with mckenzie across the street. She was telling me about a few of her friends and how they feel about the virus. Before I have time to respond we hear a piercing scream. we look over to see a woman running with 2 people chasing her. One was a women who looked sick with blood on her mouth. the other was a guy with his neck having a piece bit out of it. "Oh my god." mckenzie said horrified. "Run," I say as I grab her hand and pull her back to the main school building. In it was pure chaos the sick were chasing and harming people. We see Junior trying desperately to get R.J to run. "YOU HAVE TO RUN YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW ME!" Junior says dragging him. It no use R.J in a state of panic and is crying hystercally drawing their attention. Before junior notices one bites into R.J shoulder making him scream in pain. Mckenzie and I move past the chaos to them and help Junior get R.J out of here. We all run holding R.J up as we run out the door and into the first house we see. It's empty and we don't wait as we lock all the doors and windows. After that we close all the blinds and curtains so the sick can't see us. Junior sitting next to R.J with a shirt he found in the house and holding it on R.J wound to stop the bleeding. He looks over at us with tears in his eyes. "He won't stop bleeding." R.J looks up at junior crying. "It's ok Junior if I don't make it I will see mommy and grandpa Joe again." Junior lip trembles "no, your supposed to stay. Your supposed to be my annoying brother. Your supposed to aggravate me. you cant do that if you leave." R.J laughs a little before he winses in pain "I'm your cousin stupid." "Not in my eyes R.J." Junior lifts up his head and places him in his lap. "I love you Junior. Please don't forget about me." R.J says looking at jr with tears in his eyes. "I love you too buddy and trust me, I could never forget you." Junior says biting his lip to stop the trembling. R.J smiles at Junior one last time before his body going slump. I walk over and check his pulse. My heart drops as I make eye contact with Junior and shake my head. Junior holds R.J body tightly crying. Mckenzie walks over to Junior crying silently and sits next to him. She scoots close and while looking at R.J she closes his eyelids. After that she lays her head on Junior shoulder with her arms wrapped around him crying. "let me take him and put him somewhere till we can bury him." I say while wiping my eyes from the tears that won't stop falling. At first he shakes his head furiously at me. but after taking one last look at R.J he loosens his grip. I gently pull R.J out of his arms and take him to the basement. I lay him on the ground and I walk back up the basement stairs. As I get halfway up there I hear growling and movement coming from behind me.When I look back R.J slowly look up at me with emotionless eyes. I run up the stairs with him chasing after me. I shut and lock the door just in time. It bangs on the door growling and snarling. I hurry to Junior and Mckenzie who are standing up alert. "We have a problem here guys." I say as we all look at eachother. What are we going to do with R.J now?
