Coming Home - 1
Breathe... We're almost there, you can do this, I'm here , just breathe. Easy for you to say, you're a wolf, I'm the one about to see her parents for the first time in five years. Yes, and they still love us after all this time, through everything that has happened and will happen, we are loved. I know she's right, but listening to Jade, my wolf, be so optimistic is giving me a headache. Yes, I know my parents love me, but they did ship me off with a bunch of strangers for five damn years. Nevertheless, The Legion is home and as the saying goes "There's no place like home". I can feel the butterflies in my stomach getting bigger as I approach the packs boundries, hmm let's see if my training can get me in undetected. I step across the boundry and feel at ease, not a single guard in site, I guess training has been lacking in my absence. My white hair would be easily noticeable if anyone was in the area but yet nothing. I continue towards town, passing by shops, Mr. Thomson's flower shop, Miss Betty's bakery, the smell, great now I'm craving cupcakes. Nothing seems to have changed, that's not true everything has changed, but seeing a few familiar faces and places has me feeling nostalgic. The trek to the pack house is still another four miles, I would shift and let Jade run, but I don't want to miss anything. Luckily for me training ten hours a day for the last five years, I could do four miles in my sleep. When the pack house finally comes into view, I am immediately hit with anticipation, anxiety and dread, maybe this was a bad idea after all. Relax little one, we are home. I start to climb the stairs when suddenly the pack house doors and windows are rattled by a loud Aplha roar. I'll knock, oh that'll irk him, noone knocks it's pack house, people are always coming and going, briefly I wonder if I should say AVON CALLING but he's not the brightest Alpha on the block, Tupperware, no I don't think he'd know what that is either. Oh well, here goes. Before I can even reach for the doorknob, the door opens and I'm immediately in someone's arms who clearly didn't put on extra deodorant before training today. "Gross, PUT ME DOWN" I scream and the hug gets tighter and his laugh even louder. I'd recognize my father's laugh any where. I glance over his shoulder and see my mother, our Luna, standing outside of his office shaking her head. "Mother, if you love your mate, make him release me before I rip his head off". "John, put your daughter down, you know she's not the huggy type" I hear her say. "Huggy, mom, is that even a word?" "Did you understand what I meant, then ok, if it isn't it is now". I shake my head not wishing to argue with her and her ideas on grammar at the moment, my dad finally releases me and I can see his clear blue eyes all teared up smiling down at me. "Baby Girl, what are you doing here, are you home to stay?" I hadn't been called baby girl in so long I had forgotten that was his name for my sister and I. "Yes dad, I'm home" his smile could have powered the entire territory, he ran to the kitchen and told Ms. Lightbourne to prepare a feast, his baby girl was home and tonight we celebrate. After spending time with my mother, her catching me up on all the changes, pack gossip, who's been mated etc. I was finally able to go to my old room. It's exactly how I left it, my books still on my desk, my old laptop, still on the charger, wow, this thing could've caused a fire. Had noone entered my room in the years I was gone? Flashbacks of the last days I spent here start flashing before my eyes and suddenly I'm overcome with anxiety, I need air, I can't breathe, I stumble to my bed, crawl under the blanket and let darkness consume me.
