Chapter 3 Change

After Jake and I cuddled for awhile, He left to get things ready for us outside. I was left alone for awhile to get some rest in before supper.

I just laid there thinking for awhile. Jake told me after the Ambulance left, Zack went to take care of the horses and that Sky was still a little spooked from the bear. I can't blame her, even I was terrified. I hope Jake can at least talk to his girlfriend, maybe they'll work it out.

No matter how much I try not to think about what happened to me, I keep replaying that guy that saved me, Jake promised he'd keep it to himself. Even though he made that vow to be honest with his bosses. I know Ally and Zack also want to know exactly what happened. I can't explain that right now, so I told them I needed to rest and get my mind off it first before I can explain it to them. Which is true. I do need to rest, my headache keeps trying to come back, and I need a little bit of a distraction. Jake will help me with that later this evening. For now, I won't think of all that. For now, I'll just rest.

Of course I drifted off to sleep hearing his voice one more time in my head, "It's okay baby, I've got you. I've always got you."

Later I woke up on my own feeling better than before, no headache, I guess that's a good sign. I yawn and stretch. "Someone had a good sleep while I was gone." Jake says looking at me.

I smile at him feeling even more better that he's here when I wake up. "Hi." I smile and sit up.

"Ready to eat and ready for your surprise?" Jake asks

I nod my head, "Let's go." I get up and realise I'm wearing a long nightgown that goes past my knees. How did I get into these and how had I not noticed before.

"Your sister dressed you, after the paramedics cut your clothes to see if there were other wounds. Don't worry, we didn't look when they did that part. She cleaned you up and dressed you while the paramedics stitched you up." he says chuckling.

"Good." I say relieved he hadn't seen me naked, I don't think I'm ready for him to see me. If he'll ever see me naked. I blushed then, "Well I kinda need to change. Do you know if it's cold out?" I asked.

He shook his head, "It's nice and cool but the fire will be warm enough, you want me to turn around? or get out?"

I smiled, "Just turn around, I'll be quick."

He did as I said and I turned to my closet. I pulled out a nice navy Summer dress that had only tie around the neck straps to hold it up. I took off my nightgown and pulled the dress on quickly. No need for a bra with this dress as the dress is prettier without. I quickly put on my sandle's and pushed my long black hair out of the way.

"Okay, I'm done." I said.

He turns to me finally and his eyes go wide, "Wow, you look beautiful, gorgeous. but then your already beautiful."

I laughed and grabbed his hand, "Let's just go now."

After we had supper, Jake lead me out to the side of the house where we have a fire pit. Usually the firepit has lawn chairs set up around it, but that's not what I saw when we got there. Instead there was a outdoor lawn couch placed beside a fire already eating the wood, making a huge contained flame in the middle. He put pillows and blankets all ready made up on the couch, beside it was a outdoor side table with S'mores and fire sticks to cook the marshmallows.

He lead me to the couch and said, "You get comfortable, I'll be back in a second."

He ran off back inside the house and I smiled. This is a very beautiful gesture and no one ever did this for me, it's perfect. I sat down on the couch and laid back into the pillows, and grabbed a blanket to snuggle up with. I closed my eyes feeling so relaxed already.

As I lay there closing my eyes I can smell the wood that was burning in the firepit, that smell alone, gave my mind a sense of peace. God, I love that smell of burning wood. Before more thoughts hit me, Jake comes back with 2 mugs in his hands walking carefully so he won't spill them.

"One for you." he handed me one.

I sat up and took it, "What is this?" Interested I took a sniff at the warm liquid in the mug.

"It's French Vanilla Cappuccino." he said as he sits in a lawn chair with mug in hand.

I smell it again and this time I can smell the vanilla aroma coming from my mug. Mmm.. my favorite. Wait, I asked, "How did you know this was my favorite?"

He shrugged, "I didn't, I was trying to make hot chocolate for us but your sister told me it would be better if I made French vanilla cappuccino instead. I didn't think nothing of it, but it's good to know now that it's your favorite." he smiled at me.

I took a small sip and closed my eyes again. Feeling the Warmth of it flowing through my body immediately making me relaxed again. "It's perfect." I say and he just smiles at me again. "Thank you, for all of this."

He waved a hand at me frowning, "It's nothing, you needed to relax."

I cleared my throat, "So, anything else happen while I was out?" I asked curiously. I grabbed a Fire stick and put a marshmallow at the end and began to roast it.

"Now that you mentioned it." he pauses taking a sip of his Cappuccino.

My marshmallow began to burn and I quickly blew it out and made my S'more while he talked. "I called my girlfriend when your sister was dressing you and making you comfortable. Everything is okay now."

Mouth full of S'mores, "That's it?" I asked because he stopped talking.

"Pretty much." He sighed. "She told me she saw it coming, no matter how much she wanted it to work, she knew it wouldn't, but she was willing to try. She even wanted to come down and talk to me in person." My eyes popped open at that. He shook his head, "I told her she'd be wasting her time, I told I'm not in love with her anymore, haven't been for a few years now."

"What did she say?" I asked as he paused for awhile.

"She told me I'm a jerk for not telling her sooner and making her fall in love with me and for it all to be just for nothing." he took another sip of his Cappuccino, "Then she said she has no choice now but to try to forget me and move on. I told her she'll be okay and that I was sorry. She hung up on me when I apologized."

Blinking I said, "Wow. I'm sorry for that."

He frowned at me, "It's not your fault."

I swallowed, "Well, it kind of seems like my fault, because if it wasn't for our talk this morning, you'd probably still be with her and I don't want you to break up in a count of me."

He smiled at me then, "It actually was you that made me realize but it's not your fault, it's mine because I should have realized sooner. Guys can be idiots that way."

I laughed, "Okay. Your right, they can be."

"So, I'm officially single now. Things are going to be different. I guess that happens when you make a new life for yourself huh?" He says more out loud to himself than to me.

"I wouldn't know, my life's been the same all my life. Nothing changes much and I like it like that. The only things that changes is the people that come in and out of your life. Some, stay for a season, Some stay for a life lesson or some are forever." I shrugged taking a sip of my cappuccino. Hardin was a life lesson and a seasonal guy just passing through my life I guess. Or is he? a little voice in my head says.. I shake that thought away, no. He was a serious life lesson that life is too short and it's best to take advantage of moments with those you love and cherish them forever.

Jake was nodding frowning, "I believe that. Yes that's true. I'll keep that in mind. Thanks." then he looked at me then, "want another S'more?" he asked me.

"Sure." I smile at him and drink my cappuccino some more. "I really like talking to you." I told him.

He pointed the stick towards the fire to cook the marshmallows he placed at the tip, "I really like talking to you too." he smiled at me his dark eyes taking me in and I blushed and took another sip of my hot drink.

"Anyway, Thank you so much for doing this for me, it's really sweet, I love it and I'm grateful." I nodded. I still can't believe he done all this for me. I couldn't wait to give Emily a call and tell her about all this. Emily is my best friend I had since childhood, we both met Hardin back in highschool. Emily and I are complete opposites. I'm more of a Tomboy, who accidentally fell in love with The Guy everyone wants to be with. I don't really dress up n wear a whole lot of make up and all the fake stuff girls are wearing no a days. Emily on the other hand is this Intelligent Preppy girl who glames it up more often than I. She's a lady and I'm not so much. But, I guess opposites attract. I smile to myself missing her and then I sighed a little too loudly.

"Is something wrong? are you okay?" Jake leans over and hands me my S'more.

I shake my head, "No, it's just- I miss my friend Emily that's all."

"Oh." he says, "where is she?"

I shrugged, "She's in college, she's been there for 2 years now, she wants to become a doctor. She moved a State away and even though it's a 4 hour drive it's just too far away to go visit her more often. I have my business here and she's always busy studying and when she's not busy she keeps studying.. she's very smart and very dedicated, and I'm always busy so the only time we both have is a phone call every 2 days. But it's different to be able to see her physically to spend time with her, maybe on her summer break I can go for a few weeks." i looked at him and smiled. "I'll be talking to her tomorrow during lunch."

"I'm guessing you'll be telling her about me?" he smirks.

I bite my lip looking away, "I tell her everything." I say.

"Tell me what you'll say about me to her." He didn't say it as a question.

I smile at him, then I look down at my hands, "Well... I'll be telling her-"

A loud stick cracked in the woods beside us and it made me jump. I looked around the treeline to see if I can see anything, my body tense and alarm. Then, Jake's arms were around me then, comforting me, "Shhh, it's okay." he says soothingly.. then we hear a low growl, he takes my hand and pulls me up to walk beside him, his hands going around my waist as he holds me steady and close to him, "C'mon I guess it's our time for bed."

I nod letting him lead me into the quiet, already sleeping house.

When we finally got to the bedroom, I felt relief wash over me, I let go of Hardin and felt embarrassed. I backed away giving him space. I had no idea I was clinging to him that right. He noticed my change in posture and he said, "It's okay Davina, I know hearing that must have scared you. Considering what you went through and I know that bear is still out there somewhere." I looked at him eyes wide, maybe that's what growled at us. "Don't worry, Zack asked a bunch of us to go hunt it down in the morning." he shrugged like it wasn't a big deal.

"Your going too?" I asked, now I felt worried for him.

He smiled at me and touched my cheek, "Not if you don't want me to."

My heart skipped a beat, he likes that I'm worried about him. I closed my eyes liking the feeling he gave me. He made me feel warm and safe. Then he said, "Let's get to bed, Davina."

I nod as I gestured for him to turn around and let me change.

I quickly got out of my dress and took off my underwear. I began blushing as I realized he's only 5 feet away from me and one slight turn he'd see me completely naked.. I let my long black silky straight hair loose all around me. I debated in my head if I should just let myself have him, but I remembered I wanted to save myself until I was married. I quickly turned and put on a baggy short shorts with Tank top.

"Okay all done." I say.

He turns and looks me up and down with a light smile on his face. His dark colored eyes taking their time on my breasts, and I didn't even care if he looked. In fact, it drove me crazy watching him look at me the way he did. Then he noticed me staring and he cleared his throat, "My turn." he says and before I can look away. He takes off his shirt, his perfectly toned muscled up body was perfected. He had huge arms that I never noticed before. Eyes wide as I took him in and stared. He smirks at me, but I didn't care, I just watched his every move. He took off his Pants and socks next leaving only his Shorts. I can see the hard lump just below, I looked away then.

I was breathing heavy and I felt this weird sensation between my legs the longer I watched him. I made my way to the bed and looked back at him biting my lip. He was starring at me also, I can tell he was thinking the same as me. We both wanted eachother but wondered who would make the move? I yearned for his touch. Heart beating fast as I wondered why I was having these feelings toward him and I barely know him but trust him enough to have him sleep in my room?

I know I'm not a kid anymore, I'm already 20 and I will be 21 soon. So, why not just have a little fun? I could but I know I won't. I want something real and I want it to last a lifetime.

Before I can get anymore s****l ideas I smile at him and said, "Goodnight Jake."

He came walking over to me and surprised me with a kiss on my forehead. "Good night Davina." he whispered.

I closed my eyes and instantly fell asleep.

HB P.O.V

I was glad they finally went inside. I did not like watching them get close. A low growl escapes my lips as I see him wrap his arm possesively around her waist. She noticed and I see a brief moment of fear pass through her face, then he held her closer to him. Caressing her hair and whispering in her ear as they walked quickly inside the house.

I didn't want to hear anything they said. No. That's wrong. I did not want to hear what things he filled her head with.

Davina... I thought to myself as I waited outside to see when this guy will leave so I can sneak in and watch her sleep. Any moment this guy should be leaving, unless. I closed my eyes feeling pain in my chest thinking about them getting closer in her bed. I shook that thought away and told myself she wouldn't. I know her too well, she'd wait for the day she wants.

He better not force her or pressure her. Thats it. What is taking this guy so long to leave?

I crawled up the side of the house like a bat looking for a whole to hide on the side of a wall. Yes I can climb walls...

I quickly peek through the window to see that she was sound asleep in her bed, but before I can be relieved, I saw him sleeping on the couch she had at the foot of her bed. She must've asked him to sleep over, because she was scared. Like I said.. I knew her too well..

I silently opened up the window and climbed in. Scanning the room for other unwanted visitors. The room smelt of her, my Davina. I looked at the mutt sleeping soundly. If only I can kill him in his sleep for getting close to her. I never wanted another man dead this bad before. I was seething in jealousy.

I walk up to her bed and slowly put my hand under her head so I wouldn't wake her. Then, I slipped my other hand under her legs below her knees. I quickly but silently and carefully picked her up and jumped out the window landing on my feet. She only stirred a little. I'm glad she's a deep sleeper.

I take her around back where that guy made a comfy bed for her to lay in. I have to do it now before anyone finds out. No matter what, she's going to be mine and no one else's. She's supposed to be with me and this is the only way. I don't care if she hates me later for this. I know I should ask her permission but I'm running out of time. She's falling for someone else. I thought I'd have more time but ran short after he came around.

I opened her mouth a little, and poured some of my blood that I put inside a small Flask earlier, I poured it into her mouth hitting the back of her throat instantly going down. She frowned and cough a few times.

I smiled, there it has been done. The blood will Go straight in her system and once it touches her heart it'll stop her heart and she'll die in her sleep and awaken fully changed. I'd have to find her tomorrow night to help her. She'll be transitioning all day tomorrow. Her body with take time to adjust to everything. But the change in her heart and bloodstream will be changed right away. The transitioning is always hard on everyone for there first time.

It will start with her dying in her sleep then the blood will be working on changing her entire body.. then during the day she'll slowly begin to notice her hearing, her, eye sight, and she'll probably get a bad headache. If I'm right, she'll think she's sick and will want to stay in bed all day. Then tomorrow night I'll come snatch her from her room again and take her to my hiding spot and explain everything to her.

I pick her up and was headed to her open window but then someone grabbed my shoulder and I swung around to face Brian, a short blond dude that was part of the coven.

"What's this? Lunch?" he grabbed her leg and I yanked her away from him growling. "Get your f***ing hands off her!" I growled at him again and he flinched

Just then another hand grabbed her other leg and pulled. Almost waking her up I kicked him to the ground and said, "She's mine, get lost Brian, Demetri"

Then, another figure emerged from over the roof of the house. and hissed at all of us, "What is going on here?! Are you all insane! Have you any idea where we are?!" We all bowed our heads to our leader. He was a Tall broad shouldered man with long black hair he kept slicked back into a pony tail and always dressed in black. With Hao cold blue eyes he Bored into us saying, "Well?!?"

Brian said, "We followed him here, we wanted to know what he was doing."

I glared at Brian and Demetri. Then I wondered if they saw Mr change her. Demetri spoke up, "We lost him for a short while because he's a lot faster than us and we finally saw him from the clearing over there" he gestured in the field. "Then we came snuck up on him and tried to take his snack." He pointed to Davina in my arms.

The boss only hissed, "Bring her to me now." I handed her over to him, "Where you planning on killing this one?"

"No, I wanted to have her as mine." I told him.

He nodded "I see. Well maybe not right now, we have a battle to win in a few days time, after that, you can come back and claim her. It's not her time to change right now. Come back for her. Here put her back quickly and let's go." He handed me back.

"I'm not going back." I announced.

"You what?" he asked. I can see he was not angry with me but the other two looked furious. Tim and I had this conversation before. He knew someday I'd be going Lone Vamp.

"You heard me. I'm leaving, permanently." I told him standing tall.

He thought for a moment before saying, "Well it was nice having you with us. I cannot force you to stay. It's just sad to see you go, since your my best soldier. This is good bye then." he nodded and bowed to me then said, "A reminder, since your no longer part of my coven, you are no longer a part of my protection."

I nodded once again "Yes Sir, good bye, thanks for everything." He nodded once and gestured for the others to follow him, they left like a speed of light.

I jumped in through the window and placed Davina back into bed. I climbed back out and returned back into the night.

Davina's P.0.V

I woke up feeling stiff all over my body. Like as if I was working out all day. I sat up from bed as I realized, I hadn't dreamed at all and amazingly had a good sleep. I stretched and yawned and opened my eyes and forgot Jake slept over lastnight. He had his shirt off the blanket he used to cover himself was only halfway past his abdomen. I can see his 8 pack and the little V shape below his belly button, his muscled arms were under his head as he slept. He had the most beautiful thick dark eyelashes. I just sat there staring at him, practically coming up with different scenarios in my head on what I wish I can do to him while he lays there.

I shake my head and quickly but quietly snuck out of the room to take a nice hot shower. I put on my Blue jeans and a black tank top and my runners. This time I made one long French braid down my hair and added Hoop earrings on. I quickly put on light natural make up and went back into my room to check if he's awake, to let him know that Zack should be done breakfast by now.

I opened the door and he was already fixing up where he slept and then said, "Oh hello."

"Good morning." I smiled, "You gonna come down and have breakfast with us?" I asked.

He nodded, "Yeah, sure. I'm just going to have a quick shower first and I'll be right down." he came up close to me and then asked, "Is it okay if I spend the night again?"

My heart skipped a beat, Hell Yes! I smiled, "Yeah, sure, no problem."

"Okay good, I'll be right down." he said.

I went down to the kitchen and as usual, Zack, Alley, Donny and Teeny were all sitting in their usual spots. Zack looked up from the table as it was all set and I noticed there was a setting next to where I usually sit, probably for Jake. I smiled at them and sat down to fill up my plate full of food, I was starving.

"Good Morning, everyone." I say a little too jolly.

Alley raises an eyebrow at me and says, "Someone had a good sleep." and Zack Smirks

I roll my eyes, "As a matter of fact, yes I did, I'm well rested now, so I can get back to work."

Jake came in and said his good Mornings to everyone. After we were done eating, Jake and Zack told us they were going to find that bear and maybe trap it and call it in to animal conservation to come get it and move it further into wildlife reserve. Alley of course smiled at me when she saw Jake kiss my forehead before leaving and told me he'd be out helping me when he's done but to stay near the barn for now till they catch the bear.

I headed to the barn to where the horses were. Then, I smelt the most delicious scent I've never smelled before. Made my mouth water so bad, even though I just ate, I still felt hungry. I followed the scent and it lead me to a girl who was sitting at one of the Benches outside a stable, she was tending to a scraped knee with a little bit of blood trickling out of the wound, I licked my lips. Then I heard her heart pounding in my ears and I didn't even know she was talking to me, I was in a trance from staring at her blooded knee.

She clapped her hands, "Davina? are you okay?" she asked.

"Huh? Oh! yeah! I'm okay" my voice high pitched, why the hell was I staring at her wound? that's gross. "What did you say?"

She shook her head, "I you'd have to be careful on that entrance" She pointed to the other side of her at the back entrance of the barn door. "Someone knocked over a few Saddles near the wall and I came in not knowing they were there and tripped over everything. I'll help you in a second as soon as I'm done tending this." she gestured at her knee and I began to stare again.

"Earth to Davina?" she kind of giggled at me.

I shook my head, "Sorry, I'll get to it right away before someone else gets hurt."

I walked away quickly thinking what the hell is wrong with me? I never space out. Why the hell am I doing it now?

I picked up the saddles, with no problem and put them all away within seconds and by the time I was done and dusting off my hands I spun around and Becky was standing there, "Whoa, your done already? I was coming to help, saddles are real heavy."

I smiled and shrugged, "No problem Becky, just get your horse and tend the cattle."

She left without saying anything, as soon as she left I heard a noise and noticed one of the puppies out near the tree line. I sank my head, great, now I gotta save this pup, it shouldn't be out that far.

I take off running for the pup and I picked it up near the tree line immediately, but I frightened the pup and it bit me, causing me to flinch and drop it. "Son of a-!" I yelled and flicked my hand and the pup ran back toward the house. Stupid dog. I looked at my hand and I was shocked to see that there were no bite mark on me at all, their should have been blood, but their wasn't.

Frowning I began to walk away confused until I heard, "Davina! Come here!" the voice came from the woods. I did not think twice, maybe it was Jake who needed me for something. I ran inside and called out, "Where are you?!"

"This way! Quick!" the voice yelled again.

I ran further in and was grabbed from behind and I tried to scream but they put their hand over my mouth and whispered, "Do not scream, please. I'm going to let go and slowly turn you around."

I nodded, slowly calming down, he turned be around while letting go of my mouth, he had his hands on my shoulders keeping me steady. I was shocked to see him, it was the guy who saved me from that bear, his bronze colored hair and golden eyes 6 foot 4 man. "Hardin?!"

He smiled his gorgeous smile that can win over any heart, "Hi baby."

I cried happy tears and jumped I to his arms, feeling all kinds of emotions overwhelming me. I felt relieved, I felt sad, I felt happy, I felt so unbelievably grateful to finally have him in my arms. He held me in his strong arms and rubbed my back with one hand while the other played with my braid. Giving me comfort, I haven't felt in a long, long time.

Finally, made me look at him and said, "Davina, I allowed myself to be known because, your going through a change."
