Chapter 4 Lost

"What do you mean?" I asked Hardin, as I stare at him in disbelief. Here's the love of my life whom I thought was missing for over a year, standing in front of me, telling me I'm going through a change? He's been missing, how is he here right now? Where was he all this time? I had a strong feeling there's way more to this than he's telling me right now. I feel scared, confused, and most of all angry that I spent months crying, praying and hoping he'd be alive and found one day, that he'll come back to me. Only to find that he was okay all this time and just left me. He broke my heart.

He sighed, "Can we find someplace to talk? I promise, you I'll tell you everything you need to know."

"Your promises don't mean anything right now." I say starring back at him, looking into his golden eyes with my hands clenched at my sides, "Why can't you tell me right here? Right now?"

He reached for my shoulder and I moved away from him, he flinched as though I hurt him, "Because, it's a long story, and because you need time to process of what I'm about to tell you."

I thought for a moment and calmed down. Okay, well I guess he's not going anywhere any time soon, but where's he going to be while I get ready to meet somewhere properly? I take a breath, "I'll meet you at the cabin down by the Lake in half an hour."

He nodded backing away, "Okay I'll be there."

"Wait!" I yelled as he was about to run off, he turned and waited, "Where are you going?"

"I'm going to wait for you at the Cabin like you said." he smirked at me.

"Oh. Okay, see ya there."

"Yeah." he said and disappeared again.

I made my way back to the house, thinking of what he was going to tell me. what does he mean I'm going through a change? Does he mean by me considering dating Jake? I was considering letting Jake a the way in, I really like him a lot. Besides the fact that he's gorgeous with his dark tousled hair and dark eyes that seem to see right through me each time I look into them. I began to blush thinking of him with his hands around me, protectively keeping me safe lastnight from the growl we heard. Maybe that's the change he's talking about?

Another thing, how can I keep the fact that Hardin is alive away from my family? Am I allowed to tell them? Maybe I'll just wait and talk to Hardin first to see what's up and then tell them he's alive.

"Whoa there!"

"Oof." I say as I face planted on Jake's well toned naked chest, I quickly wrapped my arms around him as my knees gave out after the impact. He awkwardly grabbed my waist while he almost fell backwards from running into me.

We both burst out laughing at the same time, "What the hell?" I say.

"Sorry, I wasn't watching where I was going! I was looking at Zack!" he apologizes.

We finally separated and I look over to see Zack by the house laughing and shaking his head at us. I felt my cheeks go red as I realized he saw the whole thing. Ugh, I must have looked stupid! Like as if I was drooling all over Jake's chest while he tried to get me off him. I put my hand on my head and groaned.

Jake laughed and said, "It's okay, Davina, where you headed off to?"

I looked at him, "I'm going up to my room, I have to make a list and run an errand."

I walk towards the house, "You want me to come with you?" he asked as he keeps up with me.

I shake my head, "No that's okay, besides aren't you busy hunting that bear?"

"Yeah, we found it already and trapped it, we couldn't kill it, because it has cubs with her. We just got back and Zack was on his way inside to call it in. I was on my way to the barn to check on you." He chuckled then.

I looked him over and saw that he was still shirt less, my eyes travelled lower and I looked up at him and he noticed me starring. "Then, why are you not wearing a shirt?" I asked he opened the door for me to get in.

"Because it got hot out.. I was dressed too warm, I'm going to shower and put on cooler clothes right away." He says as we head to my room.

Once we were inside, He was faced me and walking close to me and I backed into the door, "What are you doing?"

Smiling he said, "Can't keep your eyes off me?" he says

Which makes me blush, because I realized I was still looking at his chest, abs, arms and my eyes kept going lower towards the hardness in his pants. I licked my lips and looked at him, his beautiful dark eyes drawing me in. I leaned in toward him, and He finally kissed me.

I wrap my arms around him and deepened the kiss, he grabbed onto my waist and picked me up off the floor. I wrapped my legs around him and held him close to me. I loved the feeling of his muscles and touched him everywhere that I could. He held onto my a** which only turned me on more.

A knock on the door broke us apart and he dropped me and I fixed my clothes immediately. Jake reached over and opened up the door to see Zack standing there, "Animal Control are on their way, gonna need your help with the loading, we need a lot of men to lift the bear in. They'll be here soon."

"Alright, be right down." He say to Zack and shuts the door and faces me with a cute smile. "Well, that was interesting."

I smiled, "Felt good to me."

He grabbed me then and kissed me again, but this time it was a fast kiss. "Looks like that shower will have to wait. See you." He says and quickly leaves putting on a muscle shirt.

I sighed, remembering I have to meet Hardin right away and grateful that Jake hadn't ask anymore about my "errand"

I grabbed my small back pack, ran down to the kitchen and I sighed in relief that no one was there to see me. I Grabbed some water in the fridge and quickly made peanut butter and Jam sandwiches, threw in some Yogurt, Granola bars, juice, and then I ran out the back door.

I headed to the Cabin that was about a mile away from the House. The only way in is through a long gravel road from the main highway, but I like to cut through our property and walk through the forest trail to get to it. We have more cabins and cottages than this one and we rent them out from time to time. Sometimes we get the same people that come every year and the same time of year in the spring, summer and fall seasons. They like to come down for hiking trails, or to Come to our place for Horseback trail riding, my sister Alley loves taking them. Or they come out to Hunt, fish, or just simply get away from the city life.

Anyway, I headed inside and sure enough Hardin was already there waiting for me, sitting on the loveseat watching DVD action movies with a cup of coffee in his hand. I looked around the area frowning. He had other things here too, like a book on the end table, I can see the bed was made in the room but there was a suit case beside the bed with stuff spilling out of it. I walked to the fridge to see that there were groceries in it.

I turned around and faced him, "Are you living here?!" I said a little too loud.

He chuckled, "Kinda?"

"Who gave you the permission for that? I am the rightful owner of this entire place?" I asked him.

He held up his hands and gestured for me to sit beside him. "Come here, I'll explain everything."

I sighed and sat beside him leaving my bag on the floor. "Fine."

"Come here face your back to me." he says.

I do as he says a little curious, then I feel him start playing with my hair and I began to relax. I closed my eyes as I tear slips out of my eye. I loved this so much and he's the only one who knows it's what keeps me calm.

He continues as he's playing with my hair, "I remember seeing you, a block away from me, waiting for me on a bench. I felt so excited to get to you. But, the moment I stepped out of my vehicle, I was grabbed and knocked out. I didn't see them coming as I was busy looking at you. I was Kidnapped, Davina.. I did not want to be away from you, I wasn't meaning for none of this to happen. After I was grabbed, I was taken far away from here. I had no idea where I was or who I was with. I woke up to a stinging to my neck, and excruciating pain in my head and entire body, I blacked out. I came to and I felt fine. I felt perfect, strong, healthy, like nothing was wrong with me anymore. But I also had this hunger lingering in the back of my throat. Also, I was able to see better, to hear better, and my movements were more faster and defined. As I got used to my surroundings, I was in a basement of this warehouse. Davina," he says.

I turned to look him in the eye, "Yes, Hardin?"

He cleared his throat. "I'm a vampire." He showed me his fangs then and my eyes went wide. I stood up and faced him and backed away breathing harder. "Please, don't be scared, I won't hurt you. I can never hurt you." he said the last part in a whisper.

A vampire?! I began to calm down, okay, vampires are real. Okay. Weird, why aren't I scared? Or was it because deep down I always had a feeling of the paranormal world? Or was it because he helped me relax already by playing with my hair? I took a deep breath and nodded, "So vampires are real, and that means werewolves too?" I asked.

"Yes and witches and such." he shrugged like it wasn't a big deal, but then again nothing ever seemed like it was a big deal for Hardin. He was an all-star boy, the most popular boy back when we were younger, everyone loved him, including me.

I sat back down, I know for a fact, Hardin never lied to me once when we were together and I guess he's choosing not to hide this from me either. I grabbed his hand and placed his hand back to my hair again. He smiled a little and began playing with my hair again. Which works both ways for us.. he says playing with my hair keeps him focused and keeps his hands busy when he's nervous and impatient and helps him relax as well.

"After I found out who I was, this guy named Michael taught me the ropes and they told me the reason they turned me was because they though I saw them robbing the jewelry store and also because they saw potential in me. They said I can leave anytime I want after I help them for a year. They weren't really a bad group of vampires. Michael became my friend, but the others were not found of me very much and was jealous that I was granted freedom so easily. My luck could have been worse, I could have been grabbed by people who sell or put vampires into slavery or traffic them. These guys were just in it for Heist. Before you judge on the things I helped them do, just understand by entire goal, was to get back to you. Yes, I had to do terrible things like Rob a few places and help them get money. Though I was not allowed to keep any money I stole, it went straight to them, I was just grateful to have a place to stay and eat and sleep, Anyway, nothing much happened until I came back here and began watching you from a distance. I got back about 2 weeks ago. I wasn't allowed to see you and let you know I was here though. My boss had me do one more thing before he granted my freedom. Apparently he had a long lost love that was missing for years and we found her in the next city over after that, two nights ago he finally granted me my freedom and they left. Another reason, I was told to stay away from you has nothing to do with them." he turned me around then and held my shoulders looking me in the eyes he continued, "This might hurt you to hear it, but you know I would never lie to you, I always tell you the truth even if it hurts."

I swallowed and nodded I put my hand on his, "I trust you."

He smiled then, looking hopeful, "Davina, your sister told me to stay away from you, she told me you were ready to move on from me, she made the arrangement for me to stay here until I figure out what I'm going to do."

I looked into his eyes and felt a tear slip again and he said, "Davina, something else, Vampires are able to scent other creatures, and I felt something from your sister, I don't think she's human."

I opened my mouth shocked at what I heard, my sister? Not human? then, "What is she?"

He shook his head, "I don't know, but, vampires are the only creatures able to scent other beings. Werewolves are able to feel it too but only in wolf form, so I was told."

I couldn't believe everything he was telling me, especially about my own sister. What can she be hiding from me? Why would she hide such a thing from me. They talk about honesty and truth all the time and here they are lying to my face.

Then, I looked at Hardin, "What should I do?"

He opened his arms and I went I to his embrace, "I'm here if you need me, I ain't going anywhere. If I get taken, I'll fight like hell to get back to you again. I still love you Davina." he then looked me in the eyes.

I looked back at him shocked, I missed him, I will always hold a special place for him in my heart, but I couldn't help remembering the passionate kiss I shared with Jake moments before. "Hardin, I have something to tell you."

"Is this about that new guy that sleeps in your room?" he grunted.

I looked up at him shocked, "You know?"

I shrugged looking down, avoiding eye contact, "I told you, I came to look out for you. Of course, I was also there, when you were attacked by that bear, I tackled it out of the way before it got to you and you passed out on me, then I saw you both outside during your bonfire date." he growled then.

I gasped, "You were the one who growled?!"

He smiled, "Had to do something to get you guys to go inside. but, I hate that it caused him to out his hands all over you."

I blushed, embarrassed that he saw all that, "I kissed him." I blurted out.

He looked like I slapped him, I immediately hated myself for telling him, "I'm sorry." I told him as he just sat their looking down, he shook his head then, "It's fine, I didn't know I was too late, your sister was right, you moved on." he got up and began to pace. Something he did before he made a final decision and he won't change his mind.

I got up fast and grabbed his face to make him look at me, "Hardin please, stay. Don't leave me, I'm sorry I missed him.. It won't happen again, but you can't blame me we're not together. I'm currently single. you can't be made at me for that. Please I want you to stay don't leave again." I pleaded.

"I held my hands and said, "I'll stay but only because I will fight for your heart again because your what got me through surviving. I love you Davina, and will do anything for you but if your going to move I'll let you." he told me.

I nodded my head understanding, I felt my heart fluttering at how close we were standing and I felt my heart pounding in my chest, I felt so alive when I'm with him and felt so calm at the same time. I hugged him, "This is what I wanted to do if I ever found you again. I still care for you Hardin." We stayed like that for a long time, just holding eachother and I realized I was crying. He kissed away my tears and held me some more until I stopped.

I cried because I was happy I got my best friend back. Happy because he's alive and he's safe know living in our cabin. "Better get going back I'm hungry." I said.

Isn't that why you brought that thing? He pointed at the backpack on the floor. I giggled, "I guess I can stay and have my lunch here. but I do have to get back, I told Jake I was going to run few errands."

"So you report everything to him?" he asked sounding a little jealous.

I smiled and shook my head, "No, he asked and I lied to him. I'll stay for awhile longer, I'll wait to talk to my sister and confront her later. For now I'll enjoy your company." I told him while handing him a peanut butter sandwich.

We ate lunch together, talked and laughed. We caught eachother up on what we'd been missing. He was relieved when I told him that Jake had only got there maybe a week ago now. I felt glad that he's back and talking to me. For a long time I felt like I wasn't fully myself and weird how that now changed again. I feel complete that he's back. I asked him if I can tell Emily and he said I could but to leave out that we was now a vampire. I agreed, she doesn't need to know. I also asked him if he's seen his parents yet and he hasn't, he doesn't know what to say to them, he just wanted to be here with me for now and in time he'll go and see them.

A thought came to mind then, that I almost forgot what he said to me earlier, "So, you mentioned that I was going through a change?"

He put his glass of water down slowly and he dropped his smile, "Look, I'm sorry for this and yes, I should have asked you first before-," he sighed and looked down at the table for a moment then he looked back at me and said, "Your transitioning into a vampire."

"What?" I heard loud and clear of what he said but I still couldn't believe my ears on what he was saying. Now I'm going to be a creature too? "How" I asked frowning trying to remember something I might have forgotten.

"I bit you lastnight." he admitted.

"When? How? Why?!" I asked.

"Well, When I saw you with Jake, it made me worried that I'll lose you to him. It made me scared that you were getting too close to him real fast. I hated seeing you with him, I hated seeing how he looks at you" He began to pace then, "I had to do something, anything, I know it's stupid and I should have thought this through, but I just, just went for it and changed you. Call me selfish, but I needed you to be like me, I want you to be with me, I can't have you with anyone else. You were mine first, from the beginning, you know I haven't loved anyone else but you. So far, your all I have, your all I thought of, your all I fought for to get out of where I was, and now that I'm finally here." He came up to me then, looking me in the eyes, "You can be mad at me all you want for changing you without your permission, but I'll wait for you forever until I'm forgiven. We had a plan Davina " He grabbed my waist and I didn't pull away just his touch made me give in to him, "I wanted you to be my wife, I wanted you to spend your life with me forever. You belong to me and me alone. I don't want to lose you, not to him, or anyone else. Hate me now for what I've done, and I'll still love you." He grabbed me and kissed me. I stiffen for a short while, I wrapped my arms around him. Everything about him felt familiar, it felt like.... home.

I cut him off and pushed him away before it went any further, I wanted him, I craved him, but there was still Jake, I didn't want to hurt him. I also didn't want to hurt Hardin. Deep down I know I love Hardin, but I feel myself falling for Jake too. All this is just so confusing. At this point, I have no idea what I'm going to do with these two men that are in love with me.

"Hardin, your making me stuck in a situation I don't want to be in." I told him.

He grabbed my hand and kissed it, "Do you love me?"

"Of course I do, I've never stopped, but-" I tried to explain.

He nodded, "Your starting to love him too?"

I looked down and felt tears forming. I didn't ask for this... I didn't know Hardin was still alive, if I knew I would have never bothered with Jake. Then again, I didn't bother him, he came to me. I knew Hardin for years and Jake only 4 days...

I began pacing the room, how can I be in love with Jake, I barely know him. Here is Hardin confessing his feelings for me, he knows what he wants, why is this so hard now? I hate this, "Hardin, I don't know what to do." I looked at him defeated.

"You don't have to make a decision today, now that your going to be vampire, you have plenty of time. I don't want to force you to do something you don't want to do. I'll be okay with whatever you choose. I just wanted you to know what's in my heart." he gave me a hug. "Just, don't sleep with him."

I looked at him eyes wide, "Your allowing me to be with him?"

He sighed, "Look, I know I'm in competition here now with your heart, and I know he won't keep his hands off you either, because I can hardly do it myself." He was holding me still, "Just stand your ground, I know you wanted to wait until you were married."

I smiled, "I still do."

He smiled and kissed my forehead, "Thats good." He looked me in the eyes then, holding my face in my hands, "Now if he tries to pressure you, you come tell me."

I giggled, "He won't."

He kissed me again and handed me my back pack and said, "Well, you got a lot to talk about with your sister, I'll walk with you till the clearing."

We headed out together holding hands and it felt great. As soon as we were in the clearing I hugged him tight smelling him, he smelt like Pine wood and I loved it. "I love you." I whispered, "I also forgive you."

"I love you, Davina." he gave me one more kiss and then, I ran off towards the house.

On our Walk though, Hardin was telling me to come back to him so he'd help me with training, but first I had to ask Alley what the F*** was she hiding from me. Now my angry was climbing as I ran and got closer to the house. He told me food will sustain my thirst for awhile but eventually I'd have to have blood. Not looking forward to that. Also he said he wanted to train me to fight.

When I got back I came in hot, I don't even care of who is there at all. I walk straight to the livingroom where Alley and Zack was sitting both reading different books, good. The kids weren't in the house at all. No one else was around. "What are you!" I yelled at Alley.

She put down her book, turned to look at me frowning, "What?"

I clenched my fists looking her in the eyes, "What are you?" I growled.

Just then, Zack stepped up and stood between me and Alley. I looked at him, "Stand aside if you know what's good for you!" I yelled at him.

"Alley! I'm sick of people lying to me! I spoke to Hardin!" I yelled.

He jaw dropped, "I told him to stay away!" she took a step like as if she was going to rush out to see him.

I stepped in front of her and yelled, "What are you Alley! No more lies please." I begged her with my eyes..

She looked at me and sighed, "I'm a Werewolf, Davina." She watched to see my reaction and was surprised I didn't react.

"How come I'm not a werewolf then if you are?" I asked her.

Zack touched my shoulder gently and said, "Davina, I think it's time you sit down with us, we need to talk."

I nodded and sat across from them in a armchair. "Well?" I waited.

"I'm not sure what you are." Alley said and looked away and shook her head, "I can't believe they left this for me to tell you." I knew she ment our parents, "Davina, You are adopted, we found you when you were a baby. Mom's Doctor and was able to get documents for them to claim you as theirs. So, we have no idea what you are, mom was pregnant with me when they found you. So they didn't tell you in case you were just a human, and they thought it best you didn't get your hopes up in being a werewolf in case it didn't happen."

Zack added, "We get our wolves in between 18 and 21, since your only 20 and it's still yet to come, if not then your just a human."

I looked back and forth between them, "Are you sure that I'm not a werewolf?"

"We are not sure, well know on your 21st birthday coming up in a few weeks time." Alley shrugged.

"Wait, so where'd you find me?" I asked.

"Near the property, one of the other wolves were doing a perimeter run and heard a small baby crying near the forest. You had a small locket with a picture of your birth parents and your name, Davina S." Alley went to the fireplace and pulled out a brick and inside was a small case with a locket tucked inside. She handed me the locket. I opened it quickly, my mind was racing, I saw a young couple in the small picture inside the locket. A tall man with blue eyes, Black hair and a woman with Black hair also and grey eyes. I didn't look at them that good because my eyes started watering, I wiped my tears and said whispered, "Werewolf found me with this?" I asked holding it up. Alley only nodded.

"So, there are more werewolves here?" I asked.

"This is an entire Pack, were called Blue Moon Pack." Zack said, "I'm the stand in Alpha, after your, I mean, Alleys dad stepped down."

Just then, Jake walked in talking, "So, what's for supper tonight guys?" He stopped when he saw me crying, he came up to me then, "Davina, what's wrong?"

I looked at Alley, "Does he know?"

Alley and Zack looked at eachother then, and Zack spoke, "He's our new pack member."

I looked at Jake, and pushed his hand away and stepped away from him, "You knew?!" I asked him but didn't let him finish. "You knew everyone here was a werewolf and you didn't tell me? Not only that, your one as well and you still haven't told me?" I yelled at him.

He just stood there, shocked, like I just slapped him.

I pushed him then and ran towards the back door where I came from. "Wait! Davina!" Jake followed me before I got to the door.

I turned on him and yelled, "What happened to not lying to me Jake?!" I cried then, "You lied to me! I trusted you!"

He froze in his place. I saw the hurt and defeat in his eyes but I didn't care. I just wanted to get away from all of them. My whole life was a lie. I wanted to run to Hardin, but he too had lied to me, so I ran the opposite direction from everyone that lied to me. I fell so betrayed and so lost.
