Chapter 18 Betrayal

A whole week went by again and still no news of my mom and Derek getting Hardin back and we were running out of time. Demetri came to our training once to see how Jake and I were doing for himself, in case we were ready to go on missions, which is why we were now suiting up together for our first outing. He is sending us near by to a city over, to watch this person he is to still give us an address and name when we're ready to go see him for the information. He wants us to follow her for awhile and to come report back to him of what we see, and to also, take pictures and/or videos probably both, but he didn't say as this is also a test of our work and loyalty. First is Observe for now, Aria said it's different for every trainee, her first mission was to bring in someone he wanted the pleaser of killing himself. He wanted to try the two of our skills to work together as a team. Plus it'll be easier of keeping track of us both than when we are separated.

After we were suited up, We arrived in Demetri's Mansion and he smirks when he sees me, I keep a straight face and nod once in greeting, while Jake Bows in greeting. Demetri smiles at Jake, "Here is the address of the woman. If you are spotted by anyone, take them them down quickly and quietly and dispose of the bodies discreetly however you like. You have 24 hours to report back to me. If you fail, you will be training longer. If you pass, I'll send you out again. Now go." He waved his hand at us dismissing us. We took our leave but before we got to the door and he says to us with his fangs sliding out, "Oh, almost forgot, I have eyes and ears everywhere." He winks and laughs as he walks into a different room.

Jake and I left quickly, because we began to hear screaming from the room Demetri entered. Jake grabbed my arm as I hesitated, "Hurry." he whispered. "Noooo! Someone Help me! Aaahhh!" A woman cries as we made our way quickly down the hallway, then a woman bumped into us before we hit the foyer before the main exit doors. She grabbed me and I threw her off and a man grabbed her and tossed her over his shoulder laughing while she kicked and screamed, taking her into the other room I hated, the other room where I went through my first night here with Derek. I cringed to myself as we walked in with her and I can see other men pounding into unconscious woman inside. A low growl escapes me and Jake nudges me forward. I bite my lower lip realizing my mistake and take a quick look around to see if anyone noticed. Only wolves growl, everyone here thinks I'm. vampire. Thankfully we were in front of the exit doors with no one else round, we walked through quckily and made it outside and I took in a deep breath, that I didn't even know I was holding in, Jake looked over his shoulder at me and gave me a sad smile, he hated this place as much as I did.

He hated what they did to all the females, if anything being a supernatural female in this so called Palace was a curse. The only lucky way out is to be a Warrior, and if your fighting skills are great, you were turned to an Assassin or you were forced to be someone's mate or Breeder, at least with that, only one man was allowed to touch you, but going against a woman's will was not okay in any form. The woman aren't the only ones who have it hard, it's the Werewolf men, they are forced to break their oath sworn to other packs and then forced to swear another oath to this one, which isn't always easy and causes pain, especially with the Wolf link. Then they are the humans who are nothing here but servants and blood bags to the vampires. The men aren't allowed to have their way with them as their bodies are more fragile than the female vampires and werewolves and human get pregnant easily. If they have half vampire or half werewolf pups, the babies won't survive, nor would the mother's. So, they were here to serve us all instead and well protected.

We got into a black sedan with fully tinted windows and Jake sat at the steering wheel while I mapped out our location on the GPS of the vehcile and he put us in drive. It felt strange to finally leave the lands we've been trapped in for about over a month now. I felt the need to tell him to just drive us free of this place but Aria warned us that the vehicles they sent us in have hidden explosives, that they can ignite anytime they want and that we will also be followed, no doubt there were a few hidden cameras in this car, so we'd have to be careful of what we say or do. It's hard not to reach for Jake's hand right beside me, as his scent fills the car drawing me to him.

"So, how do you feel about Rick's talk on being stealthy yesterday?" Jake asked casually.

I shake my head disgusted, "He's thinks he knows it all when clearly he doesn't." I fold my arms, feeling annoyed. Rick is Jake's code for my father Alrik who I was finally able to talk to without hanging up on him yesterday. So, we were pretending to talk about a guy we knew in training named Rick who also tried giving us bad advice yesterday. I knew Jake was asking me about my dad, turns out my dad didn't want me to find out I was a werewolf only to it offend my step mother that I truly came from him. I hated that he hid so much from her, lied about having two mates after lying that he told Aria that she already knew about Aria but didn't. He wanted to tell me a day I got my wolf in private that I was going to gain a wolf, he was going to take me and only me on a father and daughter camping trip so I can gain my wolf elsewhere. He told me he watched me for days after I became of age, to see signs of my wolf coming out, but it didn't until just before my 21st birthday at Emily's. Which is dumb because the moment I'd get back home after gaining my wolf, I'd have a new scent, everyone in the pack would have known but he said he knew a way to mask the scent. In the end, I argued with him to tell my mom who loved me and raised me as her own the truth. She deserved to know he was mated with another but only marked by her, my sister Alleys mom well my mom too, I just hope she doesn't hate me after knowing the truth. So far she's been begging my father to find me and again, he's hiding the fact that I am held against my will at Demetri's so called Palace.

"Honestly, I don't and refuse to listen to anyone that has hardly the skill to even take down a human woman, that's how little he knows about Stealth." I rolled my eyes while Jake shook his head and chuckled.

I rather not talk about my parents back home until I am actually home again. If I'm ever gone again. I've been getting impatient with Aria for awhile now. I snapped at her a few times this week, because of how long it's taking to have Hardin back with us again, and also, it's taking really long for this war to even start. I get this anxious feeling in the pit of my stomach and it irritates me to a point where I've become a little snappy even to Jake.

Alley called me once and I broke down crying, telling her everything that was going on and everything I was feeling. She told me, it's the fact of not knowing when everything will go down and also being worried about losing Hardin again, she recognized that same fear in me again about losing him forever. Plus she also said on top of everything was the crave from my body, needing the mate bond, and I've also been needing more blood in short time than usual, also another side effect of not marking my mate yet. I closed my eyes and take a deep breath and let out slowly and took a peek at Jake, my eyebrows raised. He was holding the steering wheel at such a hard grip his knuckles were white, his eyes were focused on the road, his jaw kept clenching. He too has been tense for the past few days.

I sighed, we needed answers on how to do this double mate bond thing and sort it out fast. I feel Celine whine in my head, it's been taking a toll on my wolf also, usually once wolves found their mates, they usually mark them the same day, if we wait longer, the weaker we get. It's why it was so frustrating not to have Hardin, because we had to all work on this together, and I don't feel right without making a decision without him.

Jake even told me, it's not his or Hardin's decision but mine alone, Aria, Alley, Zack, my dad, all agree. Derek says why not mate and mark both? Funny, Emily said the same thing. That would be too weird. To have both men, I don't think Hardin and Jake would want to share me, plus what about this thing where werewolves want to have pups someday? How will I know whose the father if I have both? I shake my head feeling disgusted.

That's another thing with this mate bond that I hate. I hate that I'm in love with two guys at once. I hate that both love me equally. I hate that I'd have to choose. If I had to choose, I'd choose, Ugh I don't know who I'd choose. I'm only getting to know Jake, but I still need to know Hardin again because him being taken so long ago, must have changed him somehow.

Eventually I'd have to set one of them free, Alley said that their is still hole for one of them, if I reject one, that they may find a second chance mate. Then I agree myself for growling at the thought of them with someone other than me. Celine whined again. "Your growling again louder this time."

I looked at him surprised, I didn't realize I was that loud, "Sorry." I sighed again. "How far is this place?"

"We're almost there actually. You've been growling off and on the entire ride by the way, getting louder each time." he smiled at me, but it didn't reach his eyes. He looked tired, I've never noticed before, I wonder if he's been getting enough sleep? I caught him a few times, writing or drawing in his book late at night.

"Did you get any rest?" I ask.

He glanced at me, "Sure, read a book then slept like a baby."

He was lying, only because we had eyes and ears on us, darn cameras in the car. "When can we eat? I'm hungry again."

"Hmm, maybe if we spot a human you can eat them and erase their memory, wouldn't want you to attack our target just yet." He smirked.

I rolled my eyes and folded my arms, "Let's just get there already, I'm not that hungry."

We didn't talk until we were 2 blocks away from this mystery woman's house. As we walked up together towards the house, we noticed the sidewalks were lit by beautiful stylish lanterns at each post, and there were no people walking around in this area, as we neared her place, She seemed to live in a Manor house, with huge 8 foot stone wall fence that surrounded the house with double door mechanical gate that can be open with a codex or be buzzed in by the home owner. Jake looked at me with raised eyebrows and I let out a whistle. This lady was loaded that much we knew. As for getting her in our sights, easy, for me to do, I can clear over 8 foot fence in one hop, being a half vampire has its advantages. "I can hop over no problem."

"I can't, I'd have to climb from somewhere." Jake says frowning at the wall.

"Well, let's meet at the Garage roof then, I won't move until your with me, same time, I'll make sure it's safe." I was about to take the leap when I felt him pull at my wrist. I looked back at him my eyebrows furrowed in confusion, "What are you doing?"

He shook his head and gestured with his head and said, "Cameras all around the area."

I smirked at him then, "Oh I know." Then I used my vampire speed and jumped and did a clean landing on the roof. I know the cameras would not detect me at all. I crouched and waited a few moments to listen to the sensors all around but it was quiet, I would have heard the small click sound of the camera catching any motion, and they'd even turn but none had moved. I smiled showing my fangs and blended I to the night and shadows like I was a part of them and waited for Jake to get here.

I took a quick look around to navigate on where to go from here. As I moved a little from my spot, the sound of the front gate opening made me hide behind a chimney, I saw a black limo pull in and stop in front of the front door and a man from the drivers side stepped out wearing a black tuxedo. A moment later a woman walked out that matched the description given to us by Demetri.

She was tall and slender, with long legs, where stilettos that clank when she walked, she wore a dark navy sparkly strapless dress that came up to her knees with a slit at the back and she wore a small see through poncho over it and her blonde hair was styled in a fancy updo with a navy flower on the side.

I quickly pulled out my camera and took shots of her getting into the limo and took a quick glance behind me as Jake finally made it on the roof. I shook my head, he was too late to record, they were already inside the limo.

I gave him a wink and jumped off with inhuman speed and strolled back to our vehcile passing the main gate of this woman's house before they left the area. I jumped in the driver's seat this time. If Jake was too slow, I'd have to leave him to catch up later. The limo exited the main gate and drove past me. I glanced in the mirror and couldn't see Jake anywhere. Where the hell is he? I slammed my fist on the steering wheel in frustration that he wasn't here yet. I was beginning to lose sight of the limo and I quickly put the car I to gear and drove to follow, good thing too as they took a right turn on the next street over. I followed them closely but at a far enough distance that they wouldn't notice me following and good enough that I wouldn't lose them in traffic.

They drove for awhile further I to the city and the traffic grew a little heavier, which made me follow them a little closer. I know Jake can track me and catch up to me, or was this his plan to escape from Demetri's Kingdom without me. Doubt coursed through me and I shook it away, no, he wouldn't leave me like that. I wonder, though if he would escape.

Then, I wonder if this is the city he came from? Maybe I should have just marked him, at least then, I'd be able to mind link him. Actually now that I think of it, I haven't mind link anyone before. That's because we don't have a pack. Celine says in my head, Quiet now, we'll talk on it later when we don't have eyes on us. Right, sorry. The moment I felt her coming through to talk, I closed my eyes taking deep breaths at a stop light, so the cameras didn't notice my eyes change dark. My eyes glow blue when I'm using my vampire abilities, they glow brighter electric blue when I'm using both.. but when Celine talks to me alone, they turn a dark color.

For now, I kept my eyes on the limo and followed it straight to a Fancy Restaurant. I parked my car across the street parking lot and began taking pictures of my target. She get out of the limo and there was a gentleman waiting for her at the entrance, a handsome tall guy with tanned skin, brown hair brown eyes with the biggest dimples, he takes her hand, kisses it, then leads her inside.

I grab the phone and quickly send the pictures to Demetri's burn phone. Shortly after sending them he calls, "Hello?" I say into the phone.

"You got her, now what I want you to do now is to go in the restaurant and tell them you have a reservation for a Sorento. I recognize the Restaurant she's at, we Vampires always have a reservation there under that name. Sometimes I let my men go there to eat or my guests I have here. Go in there, oh I also have a surprise for you and your partner in the trunk that goes with this and other occasions. You will stay with her until she goes home and lights are out. Once lights are out I'll have my guards standing watch all night so you and your partner can get rest at the hotel I am sending you to later. I'll give you the address after this call. Look in the glove compartment there should be a small broach in a white box and in the black leather box will be a rose for your partner, you both out them on with your outfits and then head inside now. Those are hidden cameras do not wet them. Good luck, I want to know who this woman hangs around with before we make a move. Keep sending the pictures."

He hung up before I got to say anything. I put the phone away and went to the back of the car to get the items from the trunk and went into the back seat of the car. I opened the first luggage bag and in it was men's clothing along with a suit. I put it in the passengers seat and opened up the second one to find woman's clothing and a evening dress. I pulled it out and put it on with vampire speed. Now I just need different shoes, I digged inside some more and found small black pumps. I put them on, then I undid my pony tail and brushed my hair with my fingers quckily and pulled a strand from each side and pulled it back to my hair and did a quick fancy braid making a half do on my long dark hair. Good thing I already did my makeup before leaving, I looked good enough for a restaurant. I had on a beautiful Lavender dress that went half way to my calves, the dress was really nice and Flowy, the top part of the dress had off the shoulder straps and a v neck that showed my cleavage and it went across my shoulder blades. I put the Broach in between my b****ts it was a small Silver trimmed crescent moon with small diamonds following the silver trimming, and what looks like a moonstone placed in the middle, which had a hidden camera in it.

I grabbed the car keys and drove into the restaurant parking and handed the valet the keys, before he took them he asked, "Name please."

"Sorento." I told him.

His eyes widen at that and he took my keys from me and whistled for one of his guys to drive my car away. "Right this way ma'am." He gestured to the entrance where I was greeted by a Receptionist who placed you with a server who guided you to your seat. "Name?" She says without looking up, reading through her laptop on the desk.

"Sorento." I said.

Her head snapped up and she stood up straighter and snapped her fingers twice and a Server was standing at attention. "Take Miss Sorento to her seat immediately." She says sternly.

"Follow me." The server says and walks towards the back of the restaurant away from windows, and I spot my target sitting not too far from me as my server waited until I was seated to ask what I wanted. "I quickly ordered a drink and food not wanting to waste anymore time. I sat and listened in with my vampire hearing, of course I and to look down or shut my eyes while I do it to keep from human eyes from noticing.

"What are we going to do now if he finds out? You know as well as I do, we must act fast before he does." The man across from her says.

She smirks at him as she takes a drink of her champagne then says, "Relax, he won't find out your with me now, he's been obsessed with me since I went to one of his grand balls and slept with him in front of his 2 wives, he wanted me then, he wants me now but you have me now." She smiles seductively at him.

He grabs her hand and kisses it just as my food a drink arrive, "Will there be anything else ma'am?"

"No thank you." I say and give her a kind smile and then began eating my Romesco Sauced Grilled chicken with garden salad and Red wine. This tastes so good. I closed my eyes enjoying my food and listened on their conversation again.

"I just hate the fact that my brother doesn't know I won you over." He says with a laugh. "But I must say we shouldn't come to this restaurant anymore, my brother is very suspicious about everything and everyone. He's always had trust issues."

She chuckled, "That's because he plays everyone around him, and he doesn't like getting played back. It has nothing to do with trust issues, it's his ego he's always worried about, and his reputation."

"Yeah, let's not talk about my brother anymore, I want to talk about us." He says as he takes her hand.

She smiles at him, "What did you have in mind?"

"I would like us to go on a trip together, somewhere far from here just the two of us for awhile? Let's see maybe to Bora Bora?" He says.

Her eyes widen before breaking into a huge smile, "Okay let's go then and when?"

"Hmm, whenever you like." He says.

"Tomorrow? I am on break right now for work and don't go back until 2 weeks time anyway." she says.

"Tomorrow will be great, the sooner the better. I'll have a limo pick you up and you can meet me at my private jet by 9 am okay?" he asked.

"Perfect. I'll pack as soon as I get home tonight." She beamed.

The rest of their conversation was only about what they planned on doing while they went on their trip, I stopped listening after awhile because they started talking about things they wanted to do to eachother. Made me awkward to keep listening, I quickly finished my meal and saw them walk out, I followed them a minute after, and waited for the valet to bring my car while she got into her limo and he got into his, and off they went, she went right and he went left.

I tap my foot on the ground, getting impatient and keeping an eye on her limo already at the stop lights with the signal turning left. I jumped into my vehicle and yelled out a thank you to the workers and sped off to keep up with her and I quickly dialed Demetri.

"What's happening."

"She's headed home, I overheard their entire conversation and she is leaving the state with some guy heading to Bora Bora in the morning, she'll be meeting him at his private Jet at 9AM sharp, she's packing tonight, I'm following her home as we speak." I said into the phone.

"Good, just follow her and watch her up until she sleeps, There will be a Vampire to meet you a block from her place, you will quickly hand him the Broach you are wearing and give him the flower your partner is also wearing." I bite my lip, he's not even here, I can't hide it.

"Impossible Sir, he's not here with me, he didn't catch up to me when I left him." I told him honestly.

He sighed into the phone, "Alright, we'll deal with him later, as long as he doesn't blow your cover. I'll give you instructions after I receive the footage, I want to see who she met with." He hangs up before I got to say okay boss.

Jake where are you and I felt Celine whimper in the back of my mind. She felt betrayed and alone. I felt it too but I pushed it away, I needed my head clear to focus on this mission first. I want this over and done with so I can get back to my own bed at the Mansion. My own bed, funny, I've been there so long it's starting to feel like home.

I followed her all the way home far from heavy traffic, I stopped a block away from her home as she was as only pulling in. A Vampire appeared by my window and I handed him the Broach as I shut off my engine and got out. Just like that I was alone again as he ran with vampire speed back into the night.

I did the same as before jumped across the fence, in blindingly fast speed and landed gracefully without triggering her cameras. I took a quick look around hoping Jake would be here waiting but he was nowhere to be seen. He really did leave. I watched through some of the windows after I jumped quietly and quickly into a tree that sat in the middle of her yard I was high up enough that her cameras didn't go as high, and I stayed there and watched her pack up and then she went straight to bed. After awhile without any movement for 30 minutes, I left from my spot and went back to my car and sat in the driver's side, watching the main gates until my next assignment.

I wasn't sure what time it was but that was a long wait until the phone vibrated against my pants pocket. I answered, "Hello?"

"Great Job Davina, now that I know who she met, I want you to leave from there and return back home. I'll be sending Aria to fly over to Bora Bora with them. I want to see if anyone else knows about them and if they are planning anything on me, I just don't want to take any chances with you following them that far just yet until I say your ready. If Jake turns up, he will be punished. I already have a few people trying to locate him. I'll call you when I find out as I know he was staying with you and Derek and you both grew close, I'll let Derek treat him with the unkindness he deserves after using you both." He hangs up.

I sighed out of frustration. I was angry, angry of this mate bond crap, angry that I actually trusted Jake again. How many times am I just going to trust him and fall for him and then get betrayed by him again and again. I will not let this be a cycle for him. He lied to my face once before and then he said he will never do it again and now where is he when I need him? I shake my head and drove back to Demetri's secret Palace in the forest.

I need to talk to someone about this, thing with Jake. I wish I can talk to Emily, the only ones I've been talking to is Alley and my dad, I can't risk Emily like I am already risking talking to my sister and dad. Emily lives alone and it's far too dangerous for her to know any of what's going on, as far as she's concerned, we're back at home safe and sound.

I drove down the driveway angrily and parked the vehcile back in front of Demetri's Mansion. I handed the keys back to one of his guards and then made my way over to Derek's Mansion of Warriors. Celine was fuming in my mind, she too felt his betrayal to the core of our hearts, we will never trust him ever again. I just wanted to go to my room and sleep.

I open the door and a familiar scent hits me as soon as I shut the door. Hardin?
