Chapter 19 Where is Jake?

Hardin's P.O.V

After another long agonizing week goes by, I sat as soon as the places started trembling and then Demetri walks in and says, "Congratulations, your trails start today, first, I need you to come with me and I'll explain on the way I hope you got rested up great and have some energy left."

I got up without saying anything and followed him out the door of the house I've been imprisoned in for I don't even know how long, wasn't counting the days, I was only counting from when I last saw Davina. That's all that matters to me, nothing else. So whatever he wants me to do I'll just have to get it done.

I had to squint my eyes before they adjusted to the bright sunlight outside. Demetri chuckled when he noticed me doing it, "Sorry, I had other businesses to attend while I planned your trails of your use to me as a soldier, warrior or a guard. You will do three tests, one that tests your strength and precision. Second, will test your battle strategies by giving you 3 of my men to guide in battle. and lastly, you will be given a hard choice, If you choose wrong, you will only be a guard. Only a warrior or Soldier you will have more freedom. I have my first hand Warrior Derek will train you and he will determine if you have the rightful skills as a warrior or Soldier. Any questions?" He asks.

"What's the difference between a warrior and soldier?" I asked.

Warriors are our top fighters and protectors of this place, if a battle were to pursue, the Warriors get combat training with weapons and the Soldiers when battle approaches, they get sent out I to the battle fields meeting the battle head on and straight away without weapons as they are their own weapons. Both have their own say of what they want to do after training but must not miss a training day which is 6 days a week. Guards however, stay closer to me and don't get much freedom as the rest and has to stay in my Mansion, though if a guard wants to fight for me they will earn it by proving it in a different trail than of what they first started with."

"So, huh, Where does the first trail take place?" I ask as we head into the woods behind his Mansion.

"Down in the woods more away from eyes and ears." He says and keeps walking ahead of me.

I take a look around as we head deeper into the woods, there were guards posted everywhere I thought I'd see an opening for a run. Then I remembered there were three guards with us, one on each side of me and one behind me ready to defend their master if I was to decide to chomp him down. I know I can kill Demetri right here, right now but then, I am completely out numbered and probably won't stand a chance. But then, I'm not like any other werewolf or vampire, I am both and equally stronger than both especially with my primal form. Alright this guy thinks I'm a Vampire, I've got to make him believe I am a Vampire, I will have to restrained my true strength and hid my wolf. My wolf just simply falls asleep in the back of my mind, which was good as he can ruin this by talking to me or reacting to something we may or may not like.

"Here we are at last." Demetri turns around with his arms spreed out wide showing me and empty field which we have been walking in for a while now. "Here's where you'll start the first."

And just like that he disappears with vampire speed along with his guards and I was alone in the woods again but of course I can still here them and see them standing at their assigned posts. I definitely didn't want to be a guard, so I'm shooting for Warrior or Soldier.

A few moments later I hear couple sticks cracking in the trees in the distance all around me simultaneously cracking in different locations. Then I hear loud growls and some roars. I get ready in my fighting stance as they all appear in the clearing all around me, wolves and vampires running toward me together surrounding me. I smiled, as I already knew what to do in this situation. Thanks to my human physical training in football.

I didn't wait for them to reach me, instead, I ran to them tackling a few wolves and flipping their bodies over mine, catching them all by surprise. I didn't let any of them grab me as I kept moving around them over them or flipping them over me, all the while using my vampire speed. Then finally one of them caught on to my pattern and they piled on top of me knocking me to the ground, my wolf steered in his slumber and I fought waking him up and just used my vampire strength to pushed them all off at the same time using arms and legs to kick off the ground. They attacked again all 10 of them, then I grabbed two of them by the throat unleashing the vampire beast inside of me, my fangs came out and my nails grew a bit longer as my finger tips dug into their skin causing them to bleed, as I hissed harshly at them. My vampire that has been sleeping for over a month or so, finally awoken and had all this pent up energy. I quickly slammed them to the ground by their necks with such force they were knocked unconscious. I crouched and hissed some more waiting for the others to attack, I noticed they hesitated when they must-have seen my red eyes.

Then to everyone's surprise I heard clapping from my right and I looked and say the vampires and werewolves moving to the side to let Demetri walk through with a huge grin on his face. "Bravo, nicely done. I like your style and I like the fact that you showed me your restraint on not fully hurting my men, which also shows me how brutal their deaths would have been. I have seen enough. You passed two of my tests in one go, hardly anyone does that the first try."

I retreated my fangs back into my gums and bowed to him in respect, my eyes I know will glow red for another few more minutes after finally letting go. "I thought you said you were only going to give me three men to deal with?" I asked him.

"That part was a misconception on my part, I wanted you to believe I was going to get only 3 to attack you, I wanted the ambush to be unexpected to get a real reaction out of you and to see how well you do under pressure and on your own. You made it past the guard pard, you rank up to be either a warrior or Soldier. But be warned, there is another trail after this one, it's what this place stands for, you'll see and possibly will enjoy the last one." He chuckles.

We walk back to his Mansion where there were 4 vehciles awaiting our arrival, with 4 drivers and 1 Tall broad shouldered man who had dark hair in a fade cut and grey eyes. He stood waiting by the front car his jaw was set. He nodded his head in greeting of Demetri, "Boss."

"Ah Derek, I'd like you to meet my new possible Warrior or Soldier, he more than passed the guard trails, Now it's your turn. I will leave you to it, I have to get the next trails ready." Then like that he Disappears into his Mansion.

"Pleaser to meet you Derek, I'm Hardin." Something flashed across his eyes before he put back his composure and nodded in return and grabbed my hand with a firm grip as mine.

"Good to meet you Hardin, get into the front passenger side, your riding with me." He gets in before I can say anything and I look back at the other vehicles and they've already had men sitting in them as the drivers were just now getting in. I sigh and shake my head, this place was just too weird, then I got that feeling in my gut that I don't know the half of it yet.

"So, where we off to?" I ask this Derek guy.

He glanced at me and said, "Your next trail. You will lead my team through courses to see how you take to leadership or if your just a field type of guy. Never truly know whether a man is a Warrior or Soldier until he actually is in real combat."

So I guess he won't tell me the full part of the test because if he says too much, he can give too much away easily. I have to pass these with pure instinct. The better is with little advice, little heads up because in the real World if war or battles were to pursue, there's no one to guide us through that's when else rely on ourselves fully and use pure gut feelings or instinct and take chances on choices that may or may not keep us alive. In this case, this test I am guessing is that I must try my best to think of everyone on my team is me and treat them accordingly and get them all to safety. Not a problem, I've fought in many battles before with Timothy and I have a lot of experience in the field that any of these rookies.

"Okay we are almost there, here are the rules, you cannot kill any of these men I am taking you to go against, You have to show me how you'd take them out by pretending to take them out. Lift them, choke them, do whatever you want to them, to make it look like your killing them, they've been trained to role play but they won't make it easy on you and will defend themselves by all means. Remember, it's almost like real life and if you make it out with your men or without, it'll determine what you'll rank at from there. Those are the only rules." Derek says.

"So, lead your men, take out the other men without killing them but I can still hurt them as long as I make a point to show how I'd actually kill them without even killing them as if this was just like a simulation. Got it." I said.

He smiled at me, "Why do I have this feeling you've done this before?"

"It is because I have fought in many battles and lead other men and I've never lost one battle since. This battle, is going to be the first and strangest battle I've had." I tell him honestly.

For some reason, I got this funny feeling that I can trust this guy but I'm not sure why. Funny, and yet I've been with the witch seeing her on and off throughout the weeks I've been here, and I haven't felt I can spill my guts to her and tell her every thing about what is bothering me and then, there's this guy of whom I just met, and I already feel a strange familiar connection with more than I did with the witch I've seen for days.

He laughed and nodded, "Alright, let's see what your made of." He stops the car and gets out.

I get out of the car at the same time the other men get out of their vehicles. We walk a little ways towards the forest. Derek stops me and everyone else before going further. "No weapons allowed, no claws, no biting, remember this is all pretend, I don't want to have to break up fights that doesn't have to happen here. If anyone steps out of line, they'll be dealing with me and Demetri immediately. Okay, everyone, follow this man right here." He put his hand on my shoulder and takes it off just as quickly, "His names Hardin, he'll be your leader and must do everything he says, you know the drill. Okay let's begin." He walks away heading to a different direction and left me alone with these 8 men.

"Right, the first thing we're going to do is travel in together, stealth mode movement until we see something out of the ordinary. As soon as we spot something, we blend into the environment and no one is to make noise or get caught, we observe every situation we run into before I make a command on what to do. Don't worry, I'll let you know in time. For now, let's move!" I raised my voice so all men heard me.

Just like that they went into step with me, all walking very quietly and quickly through the forest. No one making a sound at all. I stopped as I noticed a small abandoned house with more smaller abandoned looking Houses around the main big house, I looked at my men and nodded at them.

They all blended into the forest out of sights alongside me, we watched on ahead of what was going on in the little village looking area. So far it was a little hard to see, because of the trees, I looked at my men and put up 3 fingers and gestured for 3 of them to follow me closer. They did and I whispered as we neared, "You, go to the far side and listen in on the conversations, wait 5 minutes and report back to me, remember were just observing the situation, it may or may not be harmless." He nods and goes the way I told him, I looked to my other guy, "You do the same thing but on that side." I pointed to our left. "And you, I want you to climb that tree over there and do a count of men in the area." I pointed to the highest maple tree to climb.

While they had their positions, I army crawled closer in the tall high grass and began to listen in, "Should we sedate her again Sir?"

"No, she hasn't screamed or fought us for awhile now, only sedate her if she gets loud again." another man growled.

"Where we taking her?" another guy asked.

"We need to know what she knows, she's human and needs to tell us everything, right now she's in shock, let her come out of it first."

So, they have a hostage, a human hostage. Does she know what we are? I have to know too incase.. "Who are you guy?" a female voice drifts over to me from inside the main house where I heard the other guys talking. I listen in again, "Where am I?" she's asks.

"First tell us why you were near our camp?"

"I told the other guy already, I was just passing through, usually go for forest hikes in the area."

"What did you see while you were here?"

"I just saw two guys laughing walking this way and I followed them because there's never people in the wilderness this far anyway, then when I saw this place, it amazed me that a little village looking place was even here."

"Then what happened after you followed my men?" the one they call Sir asked her.

"When I saw this place and saw all the men just walking around, I got curious and crawled into one of the sheds and-" she stopped.

"And what?"

"I saw all the weapons that are illegal in this province, so I came to the conclusion you all are transporting weapons across the country illegally then I tried to crawl away but-" she stopped.

"Then I knocked you on your ass." a guy says

"I swear that was all I saw." she says but didn't sound so scared like she should have. Yup this was well rehearsed.

I went crawling to my spot, 20 seconds later my men 3 men I chose came back to meet me, "I came from the north side and I saw a shed that 4 guards are surrounding, the other buildings seem vacant, no movement whatsoever." he nodded once.

The tall guy with blonde spiky hair says to me next, "I came from the South side and saw 4 vehciles with 4 men guarding them."

Then the smaller of the three with brown hair that was parted in the middle says, "I was able to see the entire area, There are at least 1 guard stationed at each door around the main house seems to have 3 doors, one on the southside, 2 in the Northside. And around the far she'd to the south east corner is a shed with 4 men there and the Northside in the middle are 4 men guarding vehciles, then there are at least 5 men around the perimeter of the place."

I smiled, already knowing what I was going to do, "Alright, I got everything I need for this next part, Let's go meet with our other men and work out a plan." They nodded and followed me back to where our men were stationed.

After I told them the plan, we out the plan in motion. 5 of my men were to sneak around the perimeters while the 4 of us head over to the guards that were guarding the vehciles and take them out slowly, then after the 5 men were done the perimeter, they were to take out the guys around the shed, then we all meet up and take out the men outside the main house and we quickly scan and search each area we take them out before moving on to the next. Then, we lure the men to come outside of the main house and I and 2 others come in from a open window on the second floor for the house, we use our inhuman skills to climb that part.

Once we got inside, we took out more men on the way down to the main floor until we see only just the woman tied up, but before we can get to her 3 men pop out but we took them down, it wasn't as easy as they defended themselves really well. Then I untied the woman who showed us her fangs and I smirked at her, she pretended to be a human, nice, I spoke to her, "Alright, your going to go with them and they'll help you get out of here and to safety alright?" She nodded and went with my men and they head out to the same way we came in which we knew was already safest.

As soon as I came out the double doors, the boss of the main house was already fighting and almost winning with 2 of my men, but I grabbed him by the head and made like I was going to break his neck and knocked him to the ground where he lay breathing heavily.

Then I heard a round of applause and saw the men we beaten begin to stand back up. Demetri, Derek and other men came out of the forest and Demetri was grinning and Derek had a huge smile on his face, he looked impressed. "Well done! You passed yet again! Great work Hardin." He came and quckily shook my hand and turned to Derek, "Well, what is he now?"

Derek smiled at me then at Demetri, "He's a Warrior."

I shook his hand as well, "Great, no what?

That's when Derek's smile dropped slightly and looked u comfortable for a brief moment and just like that he was back to smiling, as if I had imagined it. I frowned at Demetri as he said, "You will move into Derek's quarters later, but first, you must come with me this will determine your true loyalty. For every man this part is usually the hardest. Most fail at this next own before they get to move to Derek's." He clicked his tongue as we all headed out of the forest and into the cars and zoomed back to Demetri's Mansion.

Derek went straight inside Demetri's and sat by the main lobby like area. "I'll wait for you here Hardin, Demetri."

"Ah yes, the respect of the new soon to be wife I assume?" Demetri said.

"No, I'm still waiting for my mate, but who says I can't have fun while I wait?" Derek smirked.

Demetri's eyes lit up when he said that, "So then she'll be fair game later then." He winks at Derek and I just shake my head at them talking about a girl no doubt. From the way Demetri talks about her, I know from there he wants her real bad but is hiding it.

We made our way up to the top floor and into a small bedroom. Frowning, I turned around and found I was left completely alone, I walked over to the door and try open it, but I couldn't, they had locked me in, I tried for the windows and noticed that they were bricked over with curtains and blinds that made them look like they were real windows.

I sat on the bed and just like that 2 women came walking out of the closet both wrapped around in silk like blankets, please don't be n***d. They came walking towards me slowly, and both were giggling, one sucked on her finger as she looked me up and down, while the other bit her lip then the both came stand in front of me, they both started rubbing their hands down my muscled up arms, they began to drop their blankets to the floor as I stared straight ahead as their breasts were at eye level. Then they shoved me back on the bed as one climbed over me her breasts almost touching my face, I turn my head away closing my eyes. Then the other one started pulling at the buttons of my pants.

They wrapped themselves up and pouted and headed out the door and in walked Demetri smiling again, "Impressive, most men fail this by sleeping with what is my goods I sell to expensive buyers, I have said the last one will test you to see how loyal you will be with my merchandise and you passed. Those who sleep with the women, have to just be guards until they prove themselves with better restraint. Derek's waiting for you downstairs, Welcome to Demetri's Palace my good future Warrior Hardin." He bowed and I bowed with him and just like that he disappeared again. They guy was weird, twisted and creepy all at once.

I shook my head and met with Derek downstairs still sitting on a small couch where we left him he had a smile on his face, "I've heard you passed, well done, most men fail." He smirked.

"Yeah no I know why most do." I say.

We walked out of Demetri's house and headed walking down the hill and into the village until we got closer to where there was more Forest area and a big mansion hair before it. But this one was smaller than Demetri's, Demetri's looked like a real palace. This was more modern. Derek didn't way anything until we were up the top floor and nearing the end of the hall, he says, "Welcome home." with a huge smile on his face.

I walk into the room and was hit with the most delicious smell of hot chocolate and vanilla, Derek shut the door and locked it behind me and there she was reading a book in the living room of the apartment looking bedroom. She looked up at me in shock, then tears formed in her eyes, I felt the tears leaving my eyes at the sight of her, I opened up my arms to her and she ran into my arms crying and laughing, I picked her up bridal style as I held her close to me breathing all of her in, then I kissed her tears away. Then she buried her head into my neck and she sent a shiver going down my spine which then made my c**ck twitch instantly.

"You both can go catch up in her room." Derek cleared his throat, and pointed to a room to the left in the hallway. I nodded and carried her back to the bedroom, where I now also smelt Jake's scent in here mixed with hers, I knew they'd be both sharing a room together. I put her down on the bed and faced her holding her beautiful heart shaped face in my hands I look her in the eyes and said, "I made it back to you."

"Yes you did it, I'm so happy to see you and to finally have you here with me. Don't leave me again, my heart can't take it anymore." She chokes and began crying with her hands covering her face. I quickly pull her to my side and held her and rubbed her back until she slowly quieted her sobbing then I said, "I can't promise I won't leave you because all those times I did, it was against my will, but what I can promise is this, if I stray from you, I will always find my way back to you Davina."

She nodded as I wiped her tears away again. I frowned as I looked around the room, wondering why Jake hasn't popped out and growl at me for touching his girlfriend. "Where's Jake?" I asked her which only made her cry again holding her chest. Which made me growl and hold her even more close to me than before. I hurt her real bad, otherwise, she wouldn't be this hurt, the Davina I know doesn't cry this easily only when she is truly hurt. Right now, I wish Jake would walk in so he can explain why she hurt, for now, I'll comfort her, like I used to already do, before I disappeared, I laid down with her spooning her as I played with her hair, she cried until she fell asleep in my arms, I fell asleep as fast as she did. Now that I think of it, I have no idea who fell sleep first, just that I was exhausted from going through different trails and her probably exhausted from crying all day. Where is Jake? Was the big question. I had before I fell into a dreamless sleep with the love of my life.
