Chapter 8 This love thing is hard.

After I shifted from Werewolf to Primal then back to Vampire/Human form about 4 times, I was already lying on the ground curled up, sweating and heavily breathing.

"Here." Jake says in a soft voice. He handed me water, my third bottle. I sat up, grabbed it from him and downed it in one big gulp. "Need another?" He asked and I only nodded, I was too out of breath to talk. He gave me, and I downed another. "One more time and we call it quits, for now."

I tried to grab the blanket to cover myself but he was already covering me in it. "Thanks" I whispered.

"No problem." he says as he helps me to my feet.

"Suppers ready!" Hardin yells from inside.

I tried to walk but my legs gave out and Jake grabbed me and picked me up bridal style and carried me inside the house and walked straight to my room. Hardin was staring at us, but didn't have time to ask anything.

"I'll help you dress and take you to the table to eat, you'll feel better once you eat." Jake said as he placed me on my bed. I pointed at his duffle bag and he picked it up and started shifting my clothes around and pulling them out for me to look at, He finally got me a dress and new underwear for me to wear.

He quickly and gently put on my panty for me as I was so sore and stiff and in pain from shifting. At this point, I had no energy to even be shy or embarrassed, after all, he spent hours with me being naked. After he dressed me, he picked me up and took me to my favorite spot to sit, he handed me another bottle of water for me to down.

"Thank you Jake." I cleared my throat.

"Your welcome, after today it'll only get easier, but we still have to test you for the serums we have to make." He said.

"You mean you, have to make, mines made ready." Hardin says as he hands me my food.

Before they can argue, Emily comes in with a blank expression on her face. We all looked at her concerned. "What's wrong?" Hardin was first to ask.

"Sit and talk to us." I told her.

"Hear have some tea." Jake told her handing her a cup as she sat down on her spot across from me.

"Where'd you go?" I asked her.

"I went to confront my parents." she said taking a deep breath and we held ours, as we waited for her to continue. She took a sip from her tea, contemplating on how to start. Hardin and Jake sat down on either side of the table, and we waited for our friend to talk, "I went and just say it out loud that I was a witch, they then, finally paid attention to me. My dad told me, he knew that, they both knew and said that the reason they knew, was because they both were. They didn't want to be defined as witches, but as real hard working people who worked hard for what they have, they want to be known for their intelligence rather than magic. They didn't think to tell me at a, they wanted me to figure it out on my own and to come to them for answers, I told them I was accepted into a coven, they weren't really impressed with that, my mom told me, I should have come to them first because we already had a coven. Then my dad spoke up and asked more about the coven and was glad they weren't making me out the coven first over anything, they said that's what they feared the most. Some covens make you quit things and make you take care of themselves first and when the coven moves, you have to move also. But this coven is different, they've been here for thousands of years, when members want to move away, they allow them to do so, they don't believe in forcing people to stay or drop everything for them, they only love to help our kind reach their full potential the right away. Anyway, then my dad asked if I'm keeping up my studies and work. I did tell them that I took 2 weeks off, my mom wasn't too happy about it at first, my dad assured her, everyone that uses their mind and work hard all the time non stop deserves a break once in awhile to recharge and get back at it. Then my dad did something I never thought he'd do." she got emotional, "He came up to me and gave me a hug, a real hug and told me he's proud of the strong independent woman I am becoming. My mom also came to give me a hug and said she too is proud and encouraged me to keep chasing my dream." She cried.

I got up right away and gave her a hug, "I'm so happy for you."

"Oh, another thing, while I was there, before I was leaving, they told me Dave was there to Help my dad with stock marketing stuff." she frowned and waved her hand like as if brushing that off, "You know I don't care for all that business talk, so I said my goodbyes and was ready to leave, then, I bumped into him on my way out. And one thing lead to another, I'm his mate." She uncovered her shoulder and showed us a mark.

"What?!" we all said.

"Wait, my brother Dave?" Hardin Asked.

She smiled and nodded, "Yes." she breathed.

"How did that happen?" I asked as I sat back down.

"Well, when I literally bumped into him he was holding me then he smelled my neck and whispered in my ear and said mate, then I too also felt this strong pull to him, I craved him, I just grabbed him and kissed him, then we ran to a closet somewhere and did the deed and he marked me and I marked him, now we're bonded, he's coming here later after his meeting." She clapped her hands excitedly.

My eyes were huge, "That's great! I'm super happy for you Emily!" I squealed and she did too and we hugged again and laughed.

"Wait, Does my brother know about me?" Hardin asked then.

"No, I wouldn't tell him about you, that's up to you." Emily told him.

"So, Hardin's brother was able to mate bond with a witch." Jake said more to himself than any of us.

He caught my attention, "Aren't witches able to claim mates or whatever?" I asked him.

He shook his head looking only at me, "No, it's only Werewolves and Vampires that can have mates, because these species live long, their both almost immortal. Werewolves have long lifespans so we need good strong mates that can withstand our lifespan, so by mating a witch, her life will also extend."

"So what your saying is, since Emily is a witch, so that must mean-" I say slowly.

Then, Hardin says sternly, "Then, Dave is either a Vampire or Werewolf."

I looked at Hardin, I grabbed his hand right away, he was so close to his family before he went missing, "You should go to them."

He shook his head, "I'll wait for my brother, after all, he was the one I wanted to confront first, then I was going to take him with me to see our parents."

I nodded and gave his hand a squeeze.

"Okay, since we're done supper, Hardin? Join me outside to get ready for training?" Jake asked.

"I don't need training." Hardin Scoffs at him.

"It's not for you, it's for Davina, she needs to be injected with Wolfsbane first." He said.

"Oh right, yeah, I'll meet you out there with the stuff." He gets up and goes to the room in vampire speed, and Jake gets up also and goes to the near by closet and brought out Blankets and a pillow.

"What's that for?" I asked.

"For you to be comfortable." He gave me a half smile.

"Why?" I asked.

"Well, you'll see, let's go." he held his hand to me and I took it and we all went walking around to the back of the House. Jake Laid the blankets down on the ground and told me to sit. Then Hardin pulls out a syringe with a needle already ready.

"I'll inject her, You go sit behind her and if she falls back you'll keep her there and Lay her down gently unto the ground." Hardin orders.

"Right." Jake agrees and gets behind me. I felt my heart hammering against my chest as I feel the nearness of his warm body pressing on my back, he placed his hands on my shoulders and said. "Just lean into me."

I leaned into him and closed my eyes tight waiting for the needle to go in, "Is it done yet?" I asked.

"Yeah, I injected Half which should have knocked you out for half hour." Hardin says.

"Again." Jake says.

Then, Hardin pokes me again and injects the whole syringe and it did nothing. I raised my eyebrows, "Really? Nothing?" I asked, feeling totally normal.

"Seriously? did you mix the thing right at least?" Jake asked.

"Of course I did, you think I'm an i***t?" Hardin raises his voice to Jake.

"Inject her with another one then." He said as he still had me in his arms waiting for me to go limp. Hardin shook his head and injected me fully with another syringe.

"Seriously?" Jake said. "Wait maybe inject her with a quarter and me with a quarter of it."

Hardin smirked and Injected him with a quarter with vampire speed, Jake didn't even see it coming. Then Jake falls back and hits the ground while Hardin laughs and then before I can respond, He injected me with he rest. Didn't even put a quarter like Jake told him to.

"Hey you jerk!" I say as I grab my arm. I get up and punch him in the arm.

He just laughed at me and then pointed at Jake who was temporarily sleeping on the ground. I have to admit, that was pretty funny, the way he doubted Hardin's knowledge on making Wolfsbane serum. I shook my head and giggled. "Thats not funny." I giggled som more making him laugh, I went over to lift Jake's head on to the pillow he brought outside for me to lay on, which made me laugh now, because now he's laying on it.

"What's so funny?" Emily comes around the corner, and sees Jake laying on the ground sleeping. "What happened to him?"

I looked at her and said, "Well, Hardin was injecting me over and over with Wolfsbane serum, and then Jake assumed that Hardin didn't make it right and to test me first then him to see if it really works but then Hardin just jabbed him with it and knocked him right out before he got to say anything." I chuckled.

"Oh my gosh, Hardin, your a jerk." Emily says as she laughed a little, "Well, how long is he going to be like that?"

Hardin Shrugged, "Could be between 10 minutes to half an hour to an hour, shouldn't be that long."

"Okay, well, there's a firepit there in the corner of you can drag him there-" She was cut off by Hardin.

"Emily! I can't believe you would want us to burn him alive! Your a jerk!" Hardin says Sarcastically as he reached down to grab the blanket under Jake and dragged him over to the firepit.

I just rolled my eyes at him and Emily wrinkled her nose at him, "Oh! Your brother's here already, He's inside just grabbing some coffee and I made tea and wanted to offer you all some, plus it's a nice night for a fire!" She goes running back in.

I walk over to Hardin who gently placed Jake near the fire pit and then I Gathered the wood and piled them in a tipi shape and added dry grass in the bottom middle, then I grabbed the matches that were sitting near a lawn chair, I lit the fire right away and I wait until the k****e wood started to burn before I added the half chopped logs all around. I dusted off my hands and sat in a chair where I can be near Jake when he wakes up.

I look up to see Hardin watching me, "What?" I say. He had a small smile playing at the corners of his lips and he shook his head.

"I'm going to see my brother, want anything?" he asked.

"Yes, I'd like Peanut butter and jam sandwiches and Tea please." I told him smiling.

"Coming right up." He walks away.

As I sat there alone, I just enjoyed the fire I made. I loved being in the outdoors, I love the smell, I love the feeling, I love the sights and wildlife sounds. I just love everything about it.

I wanted to wait with Jake I couldn't just leave him alone.. plus I already know Dave. Dave is Hardin's best friend, Out of all their siblings it's always those two that got along great, Stef and Heather were more serious like. While Hardin and Dave were more down to Earth. That's probably because they're the youngest and their father didn't push them too hard, like they did Stef and Heather. When I'd go to Hardin's place back in the day, Dave would always come hang out with us. These days I have no idea what he's up to. I know that he owned a company now and that's probably why he went to see Emily's parents to Sponsor them, or Sell them something, or offer partner ship with Casinos or maybe to offer Construction help. Yes he owns also a construction company that he created himself from scratch. He finished school at a young age and had accomplished so much at a young age. He's only a year younger than Hardin but still, Hardin missed out on a lot of academic school to go pro, which was his dream.

He can still go pro, but I think it'd be considered cheating now since he's supernatural and has a great deal of speed and strength, which every football player needs.

I smile to myself as I can hear them inside laughing, no doubt, Dave will be so happy to see Hardin, after how long he's been missing.

Jake started to stir on the ground, I knelt down next to him and put my hand on his cheek and he grabbed my hand and opened his eyes, "Davina, How long was I out?" He asks.

I squint at my watch, "About... 15 minutes?" I giggled.

He groaned, "I guess the stuff worked." He sat up slowly I grabbed his arm and helped him.

"Are you okay? How do you feel?" I asked concerned.

He waved me off and got up, walked over to the lawn chair next to mine and sat down hard, "I'll be fine, I will feel weak for a few hours but I'll be fine."

"Are you able to shift. Not that I want you to do it, just curious if your able to incase you were in a dangerous situation." I asked.

"Yeah I'd be able to, but my wolf would run a little funny from the serum. Although it won't last long in his system, he heals faster than I do." He says.

"What's your wolfs name?" I asked.

"His name is Ryder, what's yours?" he asked me then.

"Celine." I said.

"Celine, that's nice." He says. "Sorry I didn't ask before during training. I just focused on getting you use to turning."

"It's okay, anyway I'd like to meet Ryder someday." I smiled at him.

"Well tomorrow morning we can change together and take them for a run before breakfast." he suggested.

I nodded happily, "Sure, that'd be fun."

"So huh, Where did Hardin go running off to? I don't think you brought me here and made the fire?" He asked me.

"He's gone to see his brother inside and I made that fire." I told him, folding my arms.

"You did?" He looked at the fire impressed. "Not a lot of women know how to do that."

"Well, never underestimate me, I grew up near a town yes but grew up country, and spent most of my days outside. I even know how to survive outdoors if I have to, I've done it on my own before, well except I'd take a rifle with me just in case." I told him.

He raised his eyebrows and sat up straighter, "You know how to use a rifle?"

"Yes, of course I do, a 30 06 to be exact." I said.

"Wow, I wouldn't have guessed, because the way you reacted to that bear." he said.

"Well, who wouldn't be scared of a big grizzly trying to eat a small defenseless Foal?" I asked him.

"Oh, so that's where most of your fear was aimed?" he asked me.

I liked down and said, "At first but when it came at me the way it did, Charging first without even hesitating, that's scary."

He gestured to me, "Well won't be that scary now."

I laughed, "Your right, I probably scare the crap out of a grizzly if I ever meet one again."

"Yeah, I bet." he grinned at me.

I frowned at him, "Hey!" I smacked him playfully on the arm, "I ain't that scary looking."

He laughed at first and then said seriously, "No your right. You and Celine, are equally Beautiful."

I smiled at him then, "Thank you."

Then, Emily, followed by Dave and Hardin came walking out of the back of the house. Emily had a tray of tea and freshly homemade chocolate oatmeal cookies. Hardin had my sandwiches in his hand wrapped in paper towel. I stood up as they came and Dave gave me a huge smile and I greeted him with a big hug.

"Nice to see you again Davina, missed ya." He said.

"Missed you too Dave, Good to see you." I smiled and then let go of him and sat back down while Hardin handed me my sandwiches.

I grabbed them from him and immediately took a bite. "Mmm, perfect, just the way I like them too, toasted." I closed my eyes enjoying the flavor, it reminded me of nights like this back home when Hardin was with me reading outside by the fire. I opened my eyes and they were all looking at me.

"Man, I can't believe you still do that." Dave says which makes everyone but Jake laugh at me.

"Shut up." I say as I toss a small piece off bread at Dave. He of course dodge it, still laughing.

"That's my girl." Hardin laughs at us.

"Gotta love that girl." Emily says smiling at me.

I wrinkle my nose at her as I take another bite.

"What am I missing?" Jake asked.

Hardin Smirked, "We were laughing at Davina's Food Processor."

Dave burst out laughing hard which made Emily and Hardin break out laughing harder than before. Which also made Jake more confused. I glared at all of them and said to Jake, "I have this thing, where if I taste a particular food that has memory for me, I enjoy the first bite, usually by simply closing my eyes and taking in the flavor and the memory that comes with it. I try to keep it to myself but other jerks find out about it and make fun." I kicked Hardin's chairs leg and he tipped over laughing on the ground.

Frowning Jake says, "I don't think that's funny, it's kind of cute." He smiles at me. "You have a unique way of enjoying the little things, I like that."

Hardin stops laughing and dusts himself off and sits back down. and Emily says, "Tea anyone? I have cookies!" she says happily handing stuff out and when she gets to me she says, "Sorry for laughing, he's right your cute each time you do it. I love you the way you are." she hugs me.

"I love you too." I say back to her.

"Anyway, How are things Dave?" I asked.

"Well.." He raises an eyebrow at Hardin and he gestures at Jake. Which caused me to frown in question. Hardin gave a quick nod, "It's okay." He says and then Dave says, "Hardin and I are Werewolves. Well suppose to be, anyway." He just leaves it at that and takes a shot of his coffee.

I squinted at him, "Werewolves?" I asked not believing it.

He shrugged, "Fine, I hate talking long."

"Dude, you have a few companies and host a lot of meetings." Hardin stated.

Dave rolled his blue eyes at his brother, "I didn't know until last year after Hardin went missing, I was searching for him, I lost his train after about a month of searching." He looked at Hardin, "I lost you at the airport in the big city bro." Then he looked at all of us then stopped at me, "Davina, I'm so sorry I haven't told you about it, I didn't want to get your hopes up. Remember I came to check on you last year in the fall? then again in the winter?" he said. I nodded at him, I remembered. "Well I was going to tell you in the fall that I had a lead but, I saw how down you were and for a moment I saw this flash of life back into you when you saw me and asked if I know anything, it was your love and hope. It was you who gave me strength to keep searching, but after months I lost his scent and trail at the airport. I didn't know I was a werewolf right away, I found out after he went missing. I didn't know I was making love to this witch." He grabbed Emily's hand and gave her a squeeze and she returned it and he continued, "After we had our one night stand, she said she noticed something about me, something has been put on me but it was weak. Then she revealed herself to me." Jake choked on his tea and Hardin laughed, then Dave hit Hardin and said, "Shush, anyway." I bit back a giggle, "I then asked her what was wrong with me then she did a spell and touched my-" He hit Hardin in the arm again.

"What was that for?"

"I know what you were thinking." I shook my head and just listened to Dave, " She put her two hands on my forehead and said release. Then I felt this weight lift off of me and some memories flashed back on me and I told her I remember things I forgot and she told me Your welcome, and I asked why she did it and she said, she didn't like when blocks get put on people without their knowledge, and I asked how she knew it wasn't in my knowledge? she told me it was the way it was set, she said it was weak like as if someone did it fast and sloppy, and she said any witch can take that block off. If it was powerful, only the Original witch who placed it there would be the only one to take it off, she said I was lucky. She left. So, shortly after that, the next full moon I felt all the pain that came with shifting for the first time but I was told it was horrible for me because my wolf was blocked for many years. Later, on, I confronted mom and dad" He told Hardin, "They asked med how I found out and I told them, then I asked why they hid it from all of us and if a of us siblings were all the same and-" He rubbed his hands over his face in frustration, "Mom and Dad told me they are hiding their wolves also, but that they were strong enough to hide their scent from others as well and that they only smell them as human. Only because, if others find out that we are from the original Bloodline of Werewolves everyone will be out to get our blood. Back 2 hundred years ago, people hunted our entire family for our Pure blood. From Father to father we come from the original Father, the very first Werewolf Thorin Brody. Not sure how he was made or turned, I didn't pay attention to that when they were telling me." Hardin shook his head at his brother, "Anyway, I told them I will not hide like a coward, they told me I was foolish and I told them it's the 21st century, times changed. Dad just said, tell my siblings but warn them, so here I am."

"So, Heather and Stef already know?" Hardin asked.

"Of course." He says. "Anyway I'm tired."

I was tired too, their was so much going on, and seems like everyday theirs one thing after another, and the training on top of that. I got up from my chair and walked inside also. Jake was behind me and Hardin. I sighed and turned, "Okay Jake with me for tonight, this mate bond thing." I waved my hands in the air and turned around and mumbled, "This mate bond thing is a pain."

I was way too tired to argue with anyone. We got to the room and I just stripped my clothes off in front of Jake and threw on T-shirt again and crawled into bed and waited for Jake to join me. There's no point in hiding my body from him either. Both men saw me fully naked more than once. Jake took off everything except his boxers and climbed in next to me. We spooned and I allowed him to hold me close to him. It felt so nice to be in his arms.

I turned around to face him and to look into his dark colored eyes, and said, "Your very handsome."

He smiled, "Your very beautiful."

I hugged him and he held me like that too, face to face we held eachother and just listened to eachother breathe for awhile. He whispers in my ear, "Ive been waiting to hold you for a long time. I've missed you." He gave me shivers.

"I'm sorry for being mad at you for so long." I tried to explain but he cut me off.

"It's okay, you had every right to be mad at me. I was worried about you when you left, I wanted to chase after you but then, Hardin came running back with Alley. I grew curious to know who he was but then regretted it right away." He chuckled, "I was jealous of him, still am."

"Why?" I asked.

"You know why, he knows you like the back of his hand and as for me, it's hard for me to figure you out, I've never had a hard time figuring someone out. He doesn't struggle with anything when it comes to you, I mean, look what he's doing now, he's letting you be with me for crying out loud. He's perfect." he says.

"Whoa." I say, "Well, we sort of grew up together and to be honest, he had a hard time getting to me. I did not make it easy for him at all, because I knew he was the type to get everything he asks for and never had to work hard for anything, I hated Hardin, we didn't get along all the time." I told Jake.

"That still doesn't say much about now." he said.

"Well, he might know my likes and dislikes, but he doesn't get under my skin like you do." I say.

"How do you mean?" he asks.

Frowning, "Well, it's hard to explain, I just feel this pull to you all the time, sometimes you don't have to be near me at all I feel you.. when you were back where home is, my mind kept wondering back to you when given the time to think on my own. Not knowing you also irritates me, a little. I want to know you. I want to get close to you. With Hardin he makes me feel like I'm home but with you, you make me feel alive, there's a mystery in you I so badly want to solve and at the same time I want to preserve it so you stay that way for me." I finished breathing hard and my heart pounding against my with this intensity chest.

Then I kissed him, and he deepened the kiss and held me close to him, I wrapped my leg around him. Then he swept me under him in one quick movement and I was under him and he was above me, grinding on me with his hardness, as I wrapped my legs around him. Then he kissed me below my neck, licking me downward and he took off my shirt and I was completely naked under him, and he then put my breasts in his mouth and began sucking, making me moan and before he can put his hand down between my legs a knock on the door sounds.

We jump apart and he pulls the blanket over us as the door opens and Hardin walks in he grabbed something from the chair and holds it up, "Forgot my stuff, oh and Please, don't say nothing about me being a vampire to Dave!" he whispers and turns to walk out but then stops and peeks in, "Hands off Jake." then shuts the door. This love thing is Hard.
