Ben kept his promise and called me every night he was in North Carolina.  We even face-timed a couple of times. I kept myself busy with family stuff and Libby.  Libby and I finally had some time to hang out with each other.  For once, she didn’t have cheerleading practice or basketball, and I wasn’t with Ben pretending to be just friends.  It almost seemed like old times, except that Libby wouldn’t stop talking about Ben and how she had made a mistake by letting him go.  Every time she spoke about him, a mixture of guilt and anger boiled up inside me.  I knew I was wrong for lying to her, but she had her chance with Ben, and she blew it.  Libby talked a lot about her New Year’s Eve party.  She was hoping that by midnight she’d be back together with Ben to share a kiss with him.  The day
