Chapter Twenty-Two
Branimir, who had once been a councillor of the Settlement, one of the youngest ever in fact, was now deeply appreciative of his former chief’s decision to split the settlers into two communities. Newkeep Port, his new home, suited him thoroughly. He liked the communal living and the sense that they were all working together on a great project. A more important initiative, he thought, had not been made since the original division of the survivors of the Great Conflagration. Settlers, tribes, wild men, loners, humachines. Everyone had chosen which type of society would suit them. Now the settlers had divided again and it seemed to Branimir that this latest division had the most merit.
