Chapter 3

The first thing I noticed in the apartment was the stunning view. I take out my phone, take photos, and send them to Jimin. After that, I unpack some of my belongings, including my laptop, charger, and food. I check my to-do list and almost forget that I need food for dinner tonight. I change into something a little more presentable and go outside. The small cupcake shop beneath my apartment is adorable! I want to jump right in, but I'm thinking about how much work I still have to do and mentally preparing for my first day of work tomorrow. When I walk into the grocery store, it feels very different from the stores in my village. The shop even sells foreign food. I've always wanted to taste American candy! I dashed to the candy and grabbed some to put in my cart. However, you are never too old for candy. I'm still looking for tasty dinner ideas, and I'm thinking about making a rice dish for dinner. I turn around and accidentally collide with someone else's cart. A young man, probably in his twenties. For a brief moment, he looked at me, and I felt a strange sensation run through my body. Not only is he stunning, but I also have an odd connection with him. 'I'm...sorry...,' I said, feeling strange and shy. The unknown man smiled at me. 'Don't worry, I'm also sorry,' he says with a beautiful smile. I want to get out of here right now, but he seemed to want to tell me something. I didn't want to offend anyone, so I paused for a moment. 'You're pretty, I'm sorry for being so direct, but...you are,' He stated confidently. I blushed slightly as I smiled. I try to be realistic, realizing that this random guy could say anything to anyone. 'Thank you,' I say. I know what's going to happen next; he'll probably ask me something like, "What's your number?" or are we able to meet together? 'My name is Chul, what's yours?' he questioned. An older lady behind us became irritated because we were blocking her path. I don't want to say my name, but another part of me tells me that I need to get to know him better. 'Nice to meet you, Jia is my name,' I say. He smiled as he looked at my bag of American candy. ' He showed me some candy from his shopping bag. 'It appears we already have something in common,' he laughed. His smile is brilliant and flawless. 'I've never tried it before, this is my first time,' I explained. He looked at me and took another piece of candy from the racks. 'This is it, Jia! You must try this!' He stated. I took a look at the candy bar, and it did look very tasty. 'Thanks! 'I'll try it and let you know how it tastes,' I say. I keep reminding myself that I came to Seoul for work, not love. 'Oh! When will you tell me?' He inquired, sounding both playboy and pure. It did feel like love at first sight at times. 'Let's meet here at the shop tomorrow,' I say. Knowing it sounded strange. 'Fine! 'See you tomorrow,' he said without hesitation. He waved goodbye and walked away. I take a deep breath and everything runs through my mind. I returned to my apartment after finishing my shopping. I make a nice dinner, light a candle, pour some wine, and gaze out the window at the beautiful view. Everything feels so nice and perfect. Everything appears to be in order: starting a new job tomorrow, having a lovely apartment, and meeting a handsome boy in the supermarket. I laugh as I think about all of this. I finish my meal, clean up my table, and look out the window. Back at home, I would go for a walk every evening to clear my head. I think I should start doing it here in Seoul as well. I put on some comfortable clothes and my favourite shoes. The streets are even more beautiful at night, with all of the lights shining. I put on my headphones and turned on some soothing music, and this is it. It's ideal! I can't put into words how happy I am right now. Everything makes me smile. I close my eyes for a few moments to just be in the moment. After that, I just keep walking until I see someone walking in the opposite direction approaching me. Probably a man in all black, wearing a mask and a hat. He shoved me to the side of the road and bumped his shoulders into mine so he could pass. I trip and fall on the grass. 'Hey!' I yelled, irritated. The man didn't even turn around. I stand up and examine my pants. 'Great! 'My entire pants are now filthy,' I thought to myself. I can no longer see the man. He literally made my day miserable. Unfortunately, this is how small things can change your entire mood and day.
