Later when the tornado outside the ring stopped, Jeremy walked outside the ring and saw all the spoils Darca's army abandoned. He started carrying them one after the other into the ring. he took the ballista and all the swords and shield belonging to the wastelands into the ring. He covered them with a blanket and sent a message for all the soldiers to meet with him.
Inside the ring, he invited all the fairy soldiers and started addressing them;
"l have been outside the ring and I must tell you what I saw; our enemies are planning our annihilation. the weapons they have, the training they received under their cruel master, I must tell you that we need more than wooden swords to fight them. By now I believed you all must have heard how my powers didn't have any effect on Darca, I know some of you that didn't witness the event will be doubting it thinking that it might be a rumor. well don't! Because it is true; my power is not effective against Darca which I don't know why. that is why I came up with a new plan"
He went to uncover the weapons he recovered from what Darca's army abandoned. He pointed at the and started explaining;
"this is a ballista, one of the most powerful weapons of the medieval time; which I don't know if it's now. this weapon has tendency of firing about hundred of arrows at the same time. The modern name for it is machine gun which I believe that it doesn't exist in your world".
He picked up one of the swords and said to them;
"I think it's about time you get to have a real sword"
one of the fairies asked him;
"how did you get to know all this?"
Jeremy chuckled and replied him;
"movies, video games; and besides, this is part of history in my world"
He called one of the guards and threw the sword at him telling him to catch but the weight of the sword pushed the guy to the floor. Jeremy chuckled and said;
"I forgot, these weapons are too big for your size. let's find a way to make you guys weapons of your equal size. Now, I will like you to inspect that machine, find out anything you can about it. we need to build more of this"
He left them and went to Diana's chamber. Diana asked if he weren't being to harsh on the boys but he replied that if he wasn't strict, they will never take him serious. He asked for Diana to take him to his mom because he got some questions for her concerning Darca.

Darca just returned from the fight he had with Jeremy, He narrated what happened to Lydia; how the ring can't harm him which he knows the reason and also how his powers couldn't affect Jeremy. He asked Lydia why he couldn't harm the body and after much thought; Lydia replied;
"there's only one explanation why both of you are immune to each others powers. you have connections with the ring, you were conceived and burn using the power of the ring. we both know that it's impossible for a fairy to mate and elf but Zod did it which you are the product of;"
Darca was nodding his head which means that he understood, he tend asked;
"what about the boy? "
And Lydia replied him;
"he too must also have connections with the ring"
Darca asked surprisedly;
"what? how do you mean?"
Lydia continued;
"That kid is of human father and a fairy mother, such combination is impossible except for when magic is involved. mind you; Louisiana your sister left with the ring, and we all know that if she removes the ring, she will reappear here so she must have worn the ring when she and Jeremy's father mate which makes Jeremy also the son of the ring. therefore; a fight against Jeremy is like a fight against yourself which is impossible. the ring cannot work against itself".
Darca exhaled and replied;
"I don't care how you do it, I want the connection between us to be broken. I can't wait to crush that kid"
Just as Darca made to leave the attic, he heard noises around the castle. He checked it out from the attic window and saw his army running back from the boundary. He sent a guard that was with him in attic room to find out the cause of the panic, he later came back minutes later and reported that sudden tornado out of no where scattered the band. Darca turned to Lydia and said;
"I want solution to this; and I want it fast"

Back at the ring, the fairies inspected the ballista and built one, Jeremy came and inspected it but after everything, the ballista couldn't fire, he tried the one that belonged to Darca's army and it fired about ten arrows. He asked them to start afresh and left them.
He and Diana went to Louisiana's prison. He met with his mother, he asked questions about the ring, why she didn't use it to stop Darca, why the ring was powerless against Darca. Louisiana explained to him the very same thing Lydia told Darca. Jeremy made up his mind to find an alternative way of stopping Darca.
After countless efforts, the fairies successful built a ballista that functions perfectly, the build more of it. Jeremy use his power to melt the fairies weapons, he then poured them into woods with shape of swords carved there in, when the molten metals solidified, he cooled them down by dipping them in cold water. He then taught the fairies how to sharpen the blades and they started training with the blade. Half of the fairies possessed swords of their own from the molten weapons of the wasteland. Because there were inadequate rocks to obtain metallic mineral, Jeremy took it on himself to be attacking the armies of wasteland when they least expected and took their spoil of weapons. Jeremy started training the fairies with real blades and arrows; he would give them blade and wooden shield and started firing arrows on them telling them to defend themselves. He was strict with the training that anytime he's not outside the ring hunting for armory, he would be training the fairies and this was getting Diana scared that the ring might corrupt Jeremy.
Diana was worried about Jeremy due to how committed he was with the battle and preparations for it, she felt that the ring has started to use Jeremy instead the other way round. She once invited Jeremy and started telling her about the history of the ring, the god it was sculpted from, how ruthless and mean he was with his blood thirst for battle. She told Jeremy that they ring has power to corrupt an individual who lost himself to the power of the ring while using it. She told him that it will broke her heart to see him became more of Ares. Jeremy promised not to lose himself to the ring. He promised to be careful with the ring, even if not for anything else but for her. This very word Jeremy said got Diana to lose control of her emotions which got them to kiss again, but this time; a passionate one.
