My wolf whimpers, and for once, I don't tell him to shut up. Luna shakes her head. "She actually believed you cared about her." The guilt settles heavily in my stomach. "I didn't mean..." "You never do." She snaps, cutting me off again and my office falls silent. I stare at my desk, unable to deny it, because she is right. I never mean to hurt Ava, but somehow I keep doing it anyway. Luna lets out a frustrated breath. "You know what the worst part is? She still tried to defend you." She asks and I look at her with a frown. "What?" I ask and Luna nods her head, letting out a bitter laugh. "Even after everything, she still tried making excuses for you. She still tried to make herself the bad guy here, and she kept calling herself stupid for expecting you not to be an asshole."
