I was very exhausted when Anton began to drive down the road, following the Lamborghini.
"Where are you taking me?" My voice sounded exhausted in my ears, and I could see Alex smirk a bit from the corner of my eye, knowing that I had given up for the moment. I tilted my head to the side to get my tangled hair out of my eyes, and I could hear Adam and Alex sniffing the air around us. I gave them a strange look, and Alex responded with an innocent grin.
I sighed and rolled my eyes, and he gave me a warning look, so I knew he didn't like it when I messed with him. "As if that would make me stop," I thought to myself, returning his look with my own. He broke the stillness and offered to answer one of my questions in exchange for one of his own.
I gave it some thinking before nodding, and he gave me an unpleasant smirk. "What have I gotten myself into?" I reflected as I saw his wicked blue eyes twinkle.
"You can start if you want to?" He said, and I nodded.
"Where are you taking me?" I repeated my last query, and Alex gave Anton a puzzled look. Anton groaned and said, "To our place and your new home."
I argued angrily, "That wasn't really a good answer and I already have a home."
He shrugged his shoulders, and Alex offered me a little grin.
"Well, it was an answer, so now it's my turn, Sparky," he added, chuckling at the expression I made at my moniker. I huffed but tilted my head toward him to voice his inquiry before changing my mind. He paused for a few seconds before asking, "How did you get that bruise?"
He pointed at my face, and I grimaced at him. After a little stillness, I smiled and responded with three words: "Someone hit me."
Three pairs of eyes got almost dark at the same moment, and Adam even snarled slightly. I gave them all a curious look, and after a few seconds, Alex's eyes gradually returned to a brighter hue. But just somewhat brighter.
"Who?" He inhaled violently, but I shook my head and gave him an unpleasant grin.
"Ah ah my turn to ask the question doggie," I muttered something that elicited furious looks from them all, but I disregarded them since I was already thinking about my next inquiry.
"Why are you kidnapping me?" I mumbled something after a time, and they all snorted loudly.
"We are not kidnapping you." "You already belong to us," Alex responded, and I felt much more perplexed than before.
"What? I'm not yours; I have no idea who you fools are." I said, anxiously waving my hands in a 'what the hell- motion'. They grinned but said nothing in response to my scream, and I whispered to myself, "Crazy lunatics" since I knew I couldn't say it out.
"So my turn again, who hit you?" Alex asked, and I groaned and said, "My foster dad." Their eyes had all become black, which I acknowledged was rather terrifying. I could see they all wanted to ask more, but they knew it was my time to inquire, so they remained quiet and gazed at me with dark eyes. I quickly inquired, "When will you let me go?" Their eyes became considerably darker, and my heart rate increased somewhat. "Maybe not such a good question," I thought as Alex opened his lips and replied in a grim voice: "We're not letting you go, you belong to us."
I felt my mouth drop open as I gazed at him, unable to understand what he had just said. They're not letting me leave? Ever? I thought of Kate, who was left at my "dad's" house, and cringed at the prospect of abandoning her there. I couldn't do that to her; I needed to get back.
"I have something to ask, not a question but anyway." Anton jolted me out of my reverie, and I nodded, telling him to continue.
"I want you to tuck your shirt up." He eventually said it, and I gave him the 'Are you crazy-face'. But as I thought about it, an idea struck me, and I gave him a serious look in the rearview mirror.
"Fine but only if we make a stop at a certain address," I remarked, giving the other two a serious look.
"No," Anton responded simply, crushing my hopes.
"What, why!? Okay, I'll do everything if you just make one little stop." I spoke with a hint of desperation in my voice. Anton said, "Anything?" after being looked at suspiciously.
I swallowed and paused for a few seconds before deciding it was worthwhile.
"Yes, anything." I just said. Anton nodded and said, "What's your name?"
The inquiry surprised me since I had forgotten that they did not know my true name. I said, "My name is Ash."
"Well, Ash, I think we have a deal. One stop, and you'll do everything we want of you without protesting or denying." He gave me a harsh look, and I just nodded.
"Good, give me the address." After a little thinking, I responded with "14 B Saltwater Bridge."
He nodded and took up a phone, beginning to put in a number.
"Hey, we're making a quick stop at 14 B Saltwater Bridge, yes okay, aha yes bye." Anton hung off, and I understood he'd informed Kevin, who was driving the Lamborghini, about our arrangement. I exhaled in relief before realizing Alex was looking at me suspiciously.
"What?" I returned his innocent look, and he narrowed his eyes even more, indicating that he did not trust me at all.
"How old are you?" After a few minutes, he inquired abruptly, and I gave him a puzzled look. Why did he want to know this? After a period of stillness, I said, "I'm seventeen, are you?"
He nodded and exchanged looks with Adam before stating, "I'm eighteen, Adam's nineteen, and Anton is twenty."
I gave Anton a once-over; he did seem somewhat older than the rest, but not much. I returned my focus to Alex and said, "Are you related?"
Adam just replied, "Yes, we're brothers."
"Well, that explains the similarity," I thought, nodding at him. We were quiet after that, and I considered how I would handle the matter once we arrived at our destination. That notion kept me engaged for the remainder of the journey.
