AMARIS "Are you going to come and sit down so we can proceed or are you planning of just standing there all through out the interview?" I can sense impatience with a bit of teasing in his voice. "Im sorry. Im just occupied. I just dropped off my dog at the vet," the idea just popped out of my mind. I sit in the chair just in front of his table. "A dog?" he repeated as if to confirm that he heard me right. "Umh, yeah, I have a dog," but I said it sounding like more of a question. His mouth parted a little and his thick brows almost meeting when he furrowed his forehead. I give him a nod as to stop saying more. He dismissed the issue and then proceeded with the interview. "Lastly, why should we hire you?" "Well, if you didn't want to hire me, I wouldn't be here right? I-i-i mean, give me a chance and I'll show you. My credentials can speak for themeselves I suppose." The last part again sounded more of a question. "Im telling you, I dont tolerate tardiness on the company." "You mean..?" I asked and leaned closer to his desk. "You'll start tomorrow. You may go now," he said dismissingly. A smile crept to my face. "Thank you so much Mr.," I paused to look at his desk name plate. I did not realized that up to this moment I still does not know his name. " Blackwood". Draven Blackwood. "Don't worry, your dog will be fine I'm sure," he said as I was about to close his office door and my cheeks instantly heats up, ashamed that he might have noticed the lousy excuse I made up. What a jerk! "Thank you so much Miss Alice, I'll go ahead," I said to Miss Samson as I walked out on her. I headed for the elevator. His teasing voice still kept replaying on my mind. "Arghh.." Im now in front of the company, waiting for a cab for more that five freaking minutes but it seems that today is not that lucky of a day at all. I sighed and keep my right foot tapping on the floor. Its a mannerism of mine when I feel nervous, bored or impatient. Draven's smirking face flashed on my mind again. "Sssss!!You should be thankful you've got good looks or else." Im muttering to myself when I saw a car approaching. I waved my hand in hopes that it will stop, my feet are already tired with the heels Im wearing. When the car stopped, I got in and removed my heels to make my feet feel better. As the car starts, I hear my phone ringing so I put my heels back on and sat up straight. Its Maycee. "Hey," I greeted her. "Amaris, why didn't you tell me that your interview was today so Blake could have fetched you?" she asked so loudly that I even put the phone away from my ears. "Maycee, its working hours, why would I bother to disturb you or Blake?" "Eventhough, Blake isn't that busy anyways." "No worries, Im on my way home already. You can come later after work if you dont mind." "So how's your interview?" I can sense the excitement in her voice. "Well, I didn't make it." I even said that with a sad expression. "What??? What do you mean you didn't make it?" and her pitch becomes like that of a screeching tire. "I made it Maycee," I partly shouted at her out of excitement. "I really didn't expect it as you know I still dont have any experience but Im in" I tell her. "Well, I knew you'll get it. Its meant for you Amaris." she said with the evident happiness in her voice. "At least I get to have a good thing for today." "What do you mean by that?" "Well, it just happened that 'the boss' himself was the one who did the interview," I rolled my eyes like she can see me. "You mean, Alpha did the interview?" shock and disbelief is laced in her voice. "Alpha who?" "I mean, Mr. Blackwood? He's the one who did the interview?" she sounded worried. "Yeah, he did, unfortunately." "What happened?" "Well, I just happened to lose my self a bit when I saw him. And he's like so full of himself even though he did not show it like that. But I know he is thinking that way. Like come on, is it so hard to believe that I have a dog? Duh?" "What dog Amaris? Since when did you have a dog?" "Its complicated you know. Well, I admit, I admired him a little bit too much when I saw him thats why I told him that im just pre- occupied with my dog that I dropped of the vet beforehand thats why I was out of trance. And he seemed to not believe it. Maybe he thinks that he's that good- looking, arggh!" "Oh my," she exclaimed from the other line and burst-out laughing. I swear if she's just with me right now, I could have strangled her. She's my friend alright, but she's also the first one to laugh at my embarrasing situations. She always defended me from the bullies in school, but she's also annoying sometimes. "Maycee stop it," "Oh my Amaris. Since when did you learn how to lie? And of all excuses you could have thought of, I cant believe it, but a dog?A dog that you didn't have even just once?" she's trying to stiffle her laughs but I can still sense the teasing in her voice. "Urghh..." I groaned inwardly. The car stopped and when I looked out the window, Im already home. "I need to go now Maycee. Im home already. Just drop by later okay." I told her. I put my phone back in my bag and reach for my wallet, taking a bill and handing it to the driver without giving a glance. "Umh, here's the mo-" I was caught of guard when I saw his eyes from the mirror. My eyes grew wide and my jaw dropped. The bill that I was holding also fall out of my fingers. Uh-oh! Not again Amaris. You better be dead. The driver is no other than Draven Blackwood himself.
