One night, Nick took me to a lavish party at the Marina Bay Sands an extravagant and palatable resort located in Singapore. The guest list was a who's who of Singapore's elite, and I felt like a fish out of water.
As we mingled with the guests at the occasion, I couldn't help but notice the curious glances, mischievous faces, and whispered conversations all over the place. I knew I didn't fit in because I couldn't spot my caucus, but Nick's presence by my side made me feel more confident.
Just as we were about to leave, I spotted Astrid in her elegant and expensive dress across the room, sipping champagne and having some chit-chat with a group of friends. She caught my eye and raised an eyebrow looking so suspicious, This made me feel a surge of unease.
"Astrid can be a bit much," Nick whispered, noticing my discomfort. "But she's harmless he said"
I smiled, trying to brush off the feeling of unease and uncomfortability. But as the night wore on, I couldn't shake nor resist the feeling that Astrid was looking at me me, waiting for me to slip up but Nick's statement gave me a slight relief.
