The Escape
Germany — Potsdam
Amelie ran as fast as her legs could carry her. This was because she had escaped an arranged marriage, arranged by her stepmother. After Amelie's father died, she was focused by her stepmother on marrying an old man.
She was locked up for days and forced to dress up for her wedding, but she managed to escape with the help of a friend.
Amelie gasped for air as she ran, her veil fell to the ground, but she couldn't care less. She was more focused on getting away from her evil stepmother.
She had suffered for years at the hands of her stepmother. It became worse after her father's death. Her stepmother decided to sell her to an old man.
Amelie got onto a bus heading to Berlin, Germany. The bus came to a stop, and walked around helplessly. She had no place to go to. She wondered what her faith would be now. She thought to herself if she had made the wrong decision by running away.
She passed by a Madia hub corporation, where the richest companies were located. She was so amazed by the tall and luxurious buildings, she didn't notice a car heading towards her.
The driver tried desperately to avoid running her over, but it wasn't possible. She was run over by a car. Unconscious of the flood, she felt her body aching.
Back at the church, Gunther Wagner, an aged man of about 60, dressed in a navy suit, his gray hair could be seen from a distance. He was Amelie's groom.
He stood at the front beside the altar, hands clasped, so tightly the knuckles showed white. His tie felt too tight, his face twisted. Looked furiously at the aged woman seated at the front role.
Gunther was uncertain Amelie would show up. Because his marriage to Amelie was a condition, he set up to invest in Muller's company. He admired Amelie for her beauty and intelligence. He wanted her all to himself. He ignored the fact that his son Lukas liked Amelie.
Renate Muller, an aged woman of about 45 years, dressed in a well-tailored blue gown and her brown hair neatly packed to the back.
Renate was Amelie's stepmother, and she noticed Gunther's furious gaze at her. She anxiously asked Felix the whereabouts of Amelie.
Felix assured Renata that Amelie would arrive soon. Unknown to them, Amelie had already escaped from the guards with the help of her maid.
Five more minutes passed. A young man dressed in a navy suit stepped closer, he murmured something too quiet for anyone else to hear.
Gunther stared at the doors at the back of the church. He whispered to his son Lukas. "It better not be what I'm thinking. I can't be embarrassed by that little girl."
Lukas tried calming his father down. But he was happy Amelie didn't show up. "Calm down dad, I'm sure Amelie will be here in no time."
Gunther tried to control his anger. He nodded in agreement yet in disbelief.
Guests murmured, wondering if Amelie would show up.
Renate sat very straight, hands folded in her lap. She was terrified what would happen if Amelie didn't show up. She didn't want to lose Gunther's investment. After her years of trying to take over Muller's business.
Another ten minutes passed, still no sign of Amelie.
Gunther looked at the doors, then looked down at the floor.
His expression hardened, he looked at his son. "I have never been this embarrassed in my life, let's get out of here.”
Gunther and Lukas reached out for the exit; the guests gazed at them.
Renata stood up and followed slightly behind them as if she was trying to stop them from leaving.
On getting outside, Renata called out, "Mr Gunther, please wait."
Gunther turned and gave her a dirty look. "Our deal is over. I never want to hear from you again. And you had better fix this embarrassment or else you will pay dearly." He walked away.
Fear crossed Renata's face, she stood in place, terror overtook her face, her mind was full of thoughts on what she would do to Amelie. "Amelie, better pray I don't find you, you will regret ever trying to spoil my plans."
Felix went outside, he was anxious, his face was red. He looked at the expression on his mother's face and knew his news would make her mood worse.
“I got a call from the house and Amelie had run away from home.”
Renata face went white. She cursed Felix for not handling bringing Amelie to the church himself. She suddenly remembered that Amelie wouldn't have been able to escape on her own. Someone from the house must have helped her.
“Make sure you question everyone at home, we must find out who helped Amelie escape. That is our number one lead in finding her.”
Will Renata be able to find Amelie Muller?
Who ran over Amelie?
