Chapter 17 Jax pulled into the Turtle Creek reserve and headed toward the creek. He couldn’t see anything from the parking area, so he threw the truck in park and jumped out. He took off running, ignoring the pain in his leg and silently praying it didn’t buckle on him. He trekked through mud, and his boot sunk into a sinkhole, and he yanked it free. He dodged tree branches as he moved through the dense part of the woods. The clearing for Turtle Creek was just ahead, and he sent up a silent prayer that his instincts were right.
