Alice's POV
I was shocked hearing Griffin’s words. I looked at him with my wide eyes.
Griffin then said again in his cold voice, “I said, change your clothes.”
I asked, “But why? What’s the problem with my clothes?”
He replied, “’Cause I don’t like my personal assistant wearing these cheap-class dresses.”
His words hit me like bullets to the chest. I knew my clothes weren’t expensive, but they weren’t that bad to be called cheap.
I tried to speak, “But… Alpha—”
But Griffin interrupted me mid-sentence and said, “I don’t want to hear anything. Locus will give you a bag that contains a dress and some makeup essentials. So get properly ready and don’t give me any excuse that’ll make me scold you.”
As Griffin kept talking, my breathing became uneven. Then I heard his cold voice again, “Understood, Alice?”
I nervously said, “Ye… Yes, Alpha.”
Griffin gave an evil smile and said, “Good. Now you have just 15 minutes. Be in my cabin fully ready.”
What the hell?! 15 minutes? Oh my god!
Suddenly, someone knocked on the door. Before I could speak, Griffin said in his cold tone, “Come in.”
Locus entered holding a few paper bags. Handing them to me, he said, “This is for you, Miss Alice.”
I took the bags with trembling hands and gave a forced smile, “Thank you.”
To which Locus replied, “Don’t thank me. Thank Alpha.”
Reluctantly, I looked at Griffin and said, “Thank you, Alpha.”
Griffin, who had been looking at me strangely, said, “You have just 12 minutes. Get ready on time.”
After saying that, both Griffin and Locus walked away. I really felt like crying, but this was not the time to cry. I had to get ready. If I wasn’t ready on time, who knows what Griffin would do to me?
I picked up one of the paper bags. Inside was a white dress—an off-shoulder one. I whispered to myself, “Oh my God… this will reveal my tattoo!”
I checked the second bag—it had makeup items. The third bag had a pair of high heels.
I thought for a moment, then took the dress and went to the washroom. I picked up the concealer from the makeup kit and used a blender to hide my tattoo. I didn’t want anyone to see the tattoo I had hidden for years. It was obviously a secret tattoo.
I changed into the dress—it was short, knee-length—and somehow managed to do my makeup using internet tutorials. Then I grabbed my purse and phone and hurried toward Griffin’s cabin, stumbling in the uncomfortable heels.
I knocked on the cabin door, and his cold voice replied, “Come in.”
I walked in slowly. Griffin was on a call.
I said, “Alpha.”
Griffin turned to me. He looked me up and down and took a deep breath.
“f**k,” he muttered.
Maybe he didn’t like me. Oh God… did I mess up so badly? Did my makeup get ruined? Oh shit...
My heart started racing. Griffin stood up from his chair and started walking toward me. The closer he got, the louder my heartbeat grew.
He stood right in front of me, looked at me from head to toe again, and then raised his hand. I instinctively moved my head back in fear.
“Stop,” Griffin said in his melodious voice.
I froze.
He reached behind my head and unclipped my hair.
I was shocked.
Then Griffin said, “You’re looking gorgeous.”
I was stunned. What?! Griffin just complimented me? Oh my God!
He then added, “Let’s go.”
Saying that, Griffin walked ahead. I followed him, still uncomfortable, but somehow, his compliment made me feel a little confident.
There was a small smile on my face.
After a while, we were standing downstairs near the building. Locus opened the car door for me and said, “You’re looking hot, Miss Alice.”
I looked at him and replied, “Thank you, Locus,” then sat in the car. Griffin sat on the other side. I looked at him with a soft smile, but his face held the same cold expression.
The car started moving.
After some time…
The car stopped in front of a luxurious hotel.
I stepped out of the car and noticed Griffin had already walked ahead without waiting for me. I didn’t know why, but Griffin's behavior had seemed different ever since we sat in the car.
I followed behind him.
Soon, we were inside a lounge. Griffin still hadn’t looked at me. Then a man, probably in his 30s, arrived and greeted both of us. I greeted him back, while Griffin just nodded slightly.
The meeting started. My entire focus was on the meeting—I didn’t want to make any mistakes and give Griffin a reason to scold me. Mr. Leo, the man we were meeting, was very polite and smiled gently while talking to me. He wasn’t cold and rude like Griffin.
The meeting ended successfully, and I was happy.
Mr. Leo extended his hand toward me and said, “Nice to meet you, Miss Alice. Can we have dinner tonight?”
I shook his hand and replied, “So sweet of you, Mr. Leo, but sorry, I can’t.”
As I tried to pull my hand back, Mr. Leo held it and insisted, “Please, Miss Alice. I would really like it if you joined me for dinner.”
That’s when Griffin’s cold voice interrupted, “She’s not going.”
I looked at Griffin. He stood up, walked over to me, freed my hand from Mr. Leo’s grip, and then held it himself.
“The meeting is over. We have to leave,” he said firmly.
Mr. Leo smiled awkwardly and replied, “Yeah, yeah, sure.”
Griffin held my hand tightly—so tight that it started to hurt. As we walked out of the lounge, I said, “Alpha, leave my hand… it’s hurting.”
But it was like he didn’t even hear me.
After walking a bit, he finally stopped. Pointing a finger at me, he said, “Stay right here. Don’t move a step. Or else… you’ll regret it.”
It sounded less like an order and more like a warning. Yes… it was a warning. Griffin’s face had turned red—he was furious. Maybe I had made a mistake… but what?
Griffin returned to the lounge.
After a few minutes, I heard a loud noise from inside—like someone had been slapped.
Griffin came back a few moments later, adjusting his coat.
My hands started trembling.
His face now looked slightly more relaxed. We sat in the car.
I opened my mouth to say something to Alpha, but then I noticed blood on his hand.
I panicked and said, “Alpha… your hand!”
