Nikolai’s POV
As I pulled into the parking area across from the manor, I took count of the three black town cars that were parked in the driveway in front of the house. I supposed it made sense he would have decided to bring backup if things went south.
I linked Valric again, “Is Gideon here?”
“He is. He’s waiting in your old office. Lumis doesn’t seem to know he’s here. Do you want me to grab him?”
“No, I’ll stop by on my way in.” I said over the link as I parked my car. “Where’s Lumis now?”
“In your father’s former office. But Nikolai… You should know Mathilda is with him.”
Of course she is, I thought. He’d want to make sure he had his human lie detector at his side when he met with me. Before I stepped out of my car, I pulled my jacket off the seat next to me.
