The room fell silent for a moment, with nobody saying anything. I pulled back slightly, studying his face. His eyes, though tired, sparkled with happiness, and I was glad he was alive and well. If it were not because of me, he wouldn't be in this situation and I would have hated myself if he died.
“How is everyone? What has Thane done?”
Maverick heaved a deep sigh and then he told me about how Thane had suddenly attacked and then killed Keisha’s mother. “What!” I shouted. “I…” Tears flooded my eyes. “Why?”
“That is for another day. Now we need to go after him and destroy him before he goes on a rampage and destroys all of us.”
Vordian cleared his throat, breaking the moment. “We don’t have much time,” he said and I noticed the possessiveness in his tone but I ignored it.
