Chapter 8 Private Carriage

870 Words
Mary was annoyed that Richard could even think about s*x at this point; they had just left their entire house and belongings behind and gotten on a train to god knows where. She went to check on the baby, leaving Richard to fume in his seat.   Richard was frustrated at the interruption; they had the entire carriage to themselves. No one could get in without Richard unlocking the door, so he saw no problems with being intimate with his wife, but Mary was not going to give him what he wanted. He sighed and called out; “Mary, when we arrive, the first thing I want you to do is to go shopping. Buy whatever you need; don’t spare any expense. The more supplies you buy, the better, I want you to stock up on all the essentials.” Richard smiled; he knew that would make her happy. Mary loved to go shopping.    “Richard, are you serious?” Mary popped her head around the door frame, her eyes wide with excitement.  “I mean it, buy all new furniture, clothing, nappies. The whole lot. We are starting again, and you and my son can have anything they want.” Richard nodded. “I don’t care about money.”    Mary gave a small squeal of joy, “Oh, you are the best husband in the world! Steven, you are lucky to have such a great father.” Mary cooed to the baby.  Richard was glad that he had diffused Mary’s bad mood, but he still felt very aroused, and he wriggled uncomfortably in his seat. Mary was on her phone. Richard wondered what she was doing when all of a sudden, he received a notification from Twitter.    Mary had tweeted a picture of Richard and Steven, boasting about what an incredible family she had and how lucky she was to be moving to Washington, the chance to start over and spend as much money as she wanted. Within seconds she had several comments on her post.  “Look at how popular we are!” Mary squeaked, these things made her happy. “Vera is asking about you… and if we would like to see her when we get to Washington.” Mary’s tone changed.    Vera had been Mary’s best friend through high-school and college, during this time Vera had dated Richard. Mary and Vera had lost their close friendship, but they had stayed in contact now and then. Mary looked at Richard to gauge his reaction; he looked confused.     “Vera? Who is she?” Richard asked, absolutely clueless.  “My old friend from college…” Mary reminded him.  “Oh, right. I forgot all about her.” Richard remembered dating Vera briefly, and that was how he met Mary.      “I remember you being classmates with her; I remember when you approached me on campus and teased me for being so young and handsome.” Richard smiled at the memory. “If it hadn’t been for Vera, I never would have met you. I remember you guiding me around campus; Vera was jealous.”    “It wasn’t me that teased you! That was all Vera’s fault. I couldn’t stop blushing; I couldn’t talk, I was so embarrassed.” Mary giggled like a little school girl.  “I remember,” Richard laughed along with Mary. “If you weren’t the one to tease me, does mean you didn’t think I was handsome?” Richard teased. “I suppose you would not have invited me out on so many dates if you didn’t take a fancy to me…” Richard gave Mary his most charming smiled and was rewarded with a blush.    “There is no need for us to think about her now. We have a happy family, and we are very much still in love. I don’t think it is a good idea to go and see her; there is no need. I have everything a man could wish for.” Richard kissed Mary on the cheek.      Richard honestly had no desire to see Vera, and he knew that, even with the most reasonable wife, going to see your ex-girlfriend was not a good idea. Jealousy is a powerful emotion; it can destroy relationships. Richard didn’t want to take the risk; he tried to set himself and his family up and worry about getting through the coming events.      “Really? I never understood why you picked me over Vera. She is much more beautiful than I am, the perfect body, nice breasts…” Mary blushed to mention it, but she knew it was a soft spot for Richard.  “Yes. I promise you; I like your breasts more than anyone else. They are perfect for me.” Richard emphasized his point by grabbing one and squeezing it gently, making Mary go even redder in the face.  Mary was worried about Vera still being hung-up on Richard, Vera had always been jealous that Richard had chosen Mary over her and if Richard was faced with this situation, what would he do? Mary was concerned that he would choose Vera this time.  The rest of the train ride was uneventful, Mary was contacted by several of her old classmates and was invited to a reunion. Mary asked Richard what he thought; “Why are you even asking me? Of course, it’s ok for you to go. I just ask that you make sure we have everything we need for Steven and the house. Get it delivered if you need, but make sure ok?” Richard looked intensely at Mary.  “I promise.” Mary nodded and smiled.
