Chapter 59: Wood Brown Takes A Hostage

As the deputy captain of the security team, Wood Brown had been salivating over the Captain’s position for years, but there had never been a good opportunity to take it. To make matters worse, as the years went by, he had begun to feel Todd Lewis’ anger turning towards him.

In Wood’s opinion, Todd could be indecisive and stupid sometimes. For example, even a fool could tell that he liked the woman that he had rescued – So why hadn’t he raped her yet? Not only that, but he often compelled his men to control their natural instincts as well. In most situations, they were not allowed to grab food from the residents or bully the women in the community.

Wood thought that it was stupid to follow the law in a society where there was no one around to uphold the rules. No police could be seen in the streets. There were rioters everywhere. They were burning and killing to their hearts’ content, and he longed to get in on the action.

Just yesterday, Wood had looked across the street from the security building, and he had seen a young girl being dragged into the grass by four or five young men. They forced her to the ground, and they took turns raping her. The woman screamed, but no one stood up to stop the men. No one cared. After seeing that, Wood finally understood that the world had changed. From now on, might made right. If you were among the strong, the world could be your oyster.

Todd doesn’t care about any of that! – Thought Wood - What an i***t. Like a fool, he serves Vera. I think it is time for a new captain!

When Wood saw the three strangers, he saw an opportunity. If he could instigate a fight between the guards and the strangers, he could stab Todd amidst the chaos, and no one would be the wiser. Then he could take over his position as the captain. With Todd out of the way, he could have Vera, and the large-breasted stranger! Just thinking about it made Brown aroused.

Brown put his hand in his pocket and gripped the handle of his knife. Then he stepped forward and shouted at the strangers: “Hey, lady! What's wrong with you? Look at my colleague. He is unconscious! Come here and help him!”

Janet scowled and said, “He just fainted. So what? Should I kick him awake.” She was hot-tempered, so she didn’t notice the insidious look in Wood's eyes. She walked forward and stepped on the unconscious security guard's face.

Cool! – thought Janet. The soft feeling under her foot made her happy. She had read that it was cool to trample over people, and now she had finally experienced it! As for whether the guy under her foot would live… that was none of her business. She just wanted to vent her anger. As she stepped back, though, Wood grabbed her left shoulder with one hand and started to strangle her with the other arm.

“What are you doing?” Janet shouted. “Let go of me!”

Wood pressed his knife to her neck and told her to stop struggling, but she was frightened and shocked, and because she was a woman, she began to cry. She couldn’t help it.

Wood pressed the knife into her skin and a stream of blood flowed out. “Stop it!” he hissed. “Don’t move! If you do, I will cut your face!” He looked at the other two. “And you two,” he added. “If you don’t want the woman get injured, stay there. If you move, you will regret it.”

Anthony Miles and Jimmy Zoe glanced at each other and raised their hands simultaneously. "Okay,” Jimmy shouted. “You want the food, right? All the food is yours if let her go!"

Wood pointed at Anthony and shouted, “You, get on your knees!" By humiliating Anthony, he was hoping to build prestige in front of other security guards. By now, he was determined to replace Todd, and this seemed like a  good opportunity to show off his leadership abilities.

Anthony: “No. Let’s make a deal. We leave our bags, and you let her go. How about that?”

Todd nodded and said, “That seems fair.”

When Wood heard that, he turned to Todd and grinned. “You are such a coward!” he shouted. “We have so many people. Don’t be afraid of them! I have the hostage, so I am in charge now! Todd Lewis, you are not suitable to be our captain anymore.” He looked at the other guards and said, “Brothers, I will be your captain. From now on, we will take what we want; food, women, you name it, and it is yours. And all you have to do is follow me!”

The guards began to talk amongst themselves. One person said, “I’m for Brown!

Following Todd Lewis hasn’t gotten us Jack-s**t!”

“You are right!” exclaimed someone else. “Captain Brown, we believe in you! We want food! We want woman! We want you to lead us!”

The men were becoming like a group of hungry wolves. They lost their reason as they contemplated their desires.

Wood shouted at Anthony again: “Hey, boy! You heard me. Now, kneel down and admit your mistake, or I'll cut the woman's face!” After saying that, he moved the dagger slightly, and another steam of blood flowed down her neck.

“Okay!” Anthony shouted. “Don’t hurt her!” He sighed, and then he dropped to his knees. As much as he hated to be humiliated, he was not willing to let Janey get hurt over his foolish pride.

Janet felt terrible about what was happening to Anthony. It made her angry, and as the rage built up inside of her, she began to hear a buzzing sound that she quickly realized was coming from inside of her own head. Her whole body began to tingle as strength surged through her blood, into her heart, and out to every cell of her body.

Wood did not know what to make of what was happening. When Janet’s body began to shake, he was reminded of the way Hulk Hogan used to shake right before he turned everything around – and he was afraid.

Brown had no time to figure out what had happened. Suddenly, a strange rubbing sound suddenly appeared in his ears. He shrieked as the woman’s bare skin suddenly blossomed with flowers, and then became subtly reptilian.  

Within minutes, her whole body was covered with a fine layer of scales. The flowers had turned to scales, and Janet was rapidly changing colors. Once the transformation was complete, she smiled at him and grabbed him.

“Ahhhh!” Wood screamed. “You monster! This woman is a monster! Let me go. Let me go!” He struggled to get away, but she was to strong, and the more he fought against her, the tighter her grip became.

The huge reversal of the situation was beyond everyone's imagination, and no one knew what happened. If Richard was there, he would have been surprised to find that there was a thick blue halo around Janet. An ancient gene that had been hidden in her body was rapidly rewriting her body’s structure.

Within a few minutes, Janet’s body had completed the first adaptive evolution, and she had acquired a mutant skill called, Pseudoscale.
